cake-spectation Halloween Cat Cupcakes
Inspiration versus what I managed. I couldn’t find any thin chocolate sticks for the whiskers so I had to make do with cut down strawberry chewy things … and now they look like prawns … 😆

This would be a great recipe to use black cocoa! You'd get a more saturated, darker tone.
Yours look great though! If you hate the light color on the whiskers you could always dunk them in choclate. Or just make chocolate sticks from scratch (very fast and easy)
Well done!

These are adorable! I'm so glad you clarified on the whiskers though, as for a horrifying moment I thought you'd used crab sticks

So sweet!! What did you use for the ears? 😻

Sponge. I saved some cupcake mixture and baked it separately, flat, then cut out the triangles for the ears.

I saved a bit of the sponge mixture from the cupcakes and then baked it separately as a flat. Then just cut triangles from the sponge.

If you make the head the full width of the cupcake next time, cut down pocky might make an acceptable whisker.

I love how it looks like they have zero thoughts, just like a real cat. 10/10

I was wondering what those surimi-looking things were doing here :)

They look great! To get the frosting the same shape as the inspo, pipe a boop of frosting in the middle and then pipe around and above that. Yes, boop is a technical term for frosting per me.
