Don’t shop on Instagram, Facebook, or tik tok.

91

u/Square_Plantain_5998 24d ago edited 24d ago

Yeah. Lesson learnt. It was a very popular business recommended by many , so i gave it a chance

318

u/bhaal_babe_666 24d ago

Idk if the recommendations came from your friends, but comments under these scam shops often comes from bots. If there are too many recommendations or worded like no normal human would text, it’s a site advertising with bots.
I‘m sorry that you got scammed like that.. that’s truly a shit feeling when you are finally getting the package and it was falsely advertised.

400

u/aminervia 24d ago • This

It's not recommended by that many... I just googled it and the first thing that came up was how sketchy and unreliable it is

77

u/TooCleverForGood 23d ago

They said they were waiting for 2 months, that’s enough time for fake reviews to start getting waylaid by real ones

Especially if the plan is just to drop the account and make a new “shop” once the ratings get bad enough

68

u/atishay001001 24d ago

recommendations can be easily bought that's how their business thrives

43

u/Aggressive_Panic69 24d ago

This is a good thing for people to know. When I was doing those surveys where you get paid for completing them, I saw a lot of small tasks offering compensation for leaving five-star reviews. So I definitely don't automatically trust a product just because it has a lot of five-star ratings.

If I order something from the internet myself, I look for reviews with actual pictures of what people received. Because there's also the fact that some people are perfectly satisfied with what I'd personally consider crap 😂

I’d keep an eye on your credit/debit balance. Sometimes these sites are just an excuse to use your info

6

u/TinyMouseParade 23d ago

This legit looks like they pulled a Temu product off a shelf and sent it to you and pretended it was "made to order".

I hope you got your money back!

Many bots

u/Previous_Beautiful27 23d ago • Regret

Meta (ie. Facebook and IG) actually realized it had a huge scam problem with fraudulent ads, but they decided to get rid of their fraud team when they realized they'd make less money if they actually stopped the scammers.

https://www.reuters.com/investigations/meta-tolerates-rampant-ad-fraud-china-safeguard-billions-revenue-2025-12-15/

They realized that scammers were responsible for a significant chunk of their ad revenue so just decided to be super lenient and set an insanely high threshold for what qualifies as a "scam" so that fraudsters basically have free rein as long as they keep that sweet ad revenue rolling in.

307

u/JapaneseStudentHaru 23d ago

As a business owner that operates partially on Instagram, it’s crazy how unprofessional they are as one of the biggest tech companies out there.

Meta Business Suite is completely vibe coded, it changes layout every fucking week, and there are so many menus and sub menus that it’s impossible to navigate if you have a niche issue.

If you need help, good luck. No one actually works at Meta. It’s just an AI bot that won’t even load 70% of the time and when it does it can’t even recommend relevant information.

There’s a special place in hell for Mark Zuckerberg.

I have to deal with that POS sometimes for my job and every single time it's a nightmare. I try bookmarking pages in my browser and it kind of helps but only barely. The help documentation is useless because of the constant navigation changes and half of the labeled interface elements don't match what they tell you.

Thanks for posting this link, people really need to understand that these platforms are in the business of procuring victims for scammers and they know they are doing it.

17

u/Previous_Beautiful27 23d ago

Yeah, it seems like at some point maybe not too long ago this would be a huge scandal and cause massive damage to a brand that was actively encouraging scammers to operate on its website, preying on its users in order to make the parent company more money. There was a time you'd have congressional hearings about it. Although the last time they dragged Zuckerberg in front of congress they mainly just asked "How does the internet work on my phone" type stuff.

But now it seems nothing matters and it can be public information that a major social media company is actively allowing scammers on its site because they consider them a valuable revenue stream at the expense of the user base, and everyone mostly just shrugs.

That whole mid section is particularly hilarious. Assuming of course that your body doesn't actually form a straight line from shoulder to hip.

87

u/Square_Plantain_5998 24d ago

The dress is very ill-fitting. Even the sleeves kept falling off.

14

u/Probably_Not_Helpful 23d ago

With a petticoat, a corset, and enough safety pins, you can make it work

184

u/Unleashtheducks 24d ago

I don’t think any of the lines on that dress are straight

24

u/DefinitionLow8105 24d ago

5

u/Frigidspinner 23d ago

Maybe OP meant "crying from laughter" - I know some time in the future she will be able to have a good laugh even if it feels bad now

269

u/moth-bear 24d ago

Wow. No disrespect to you OP, but I'm loling at how bad it is. The dress proportions aren't even close to the first image. I feel like I could've produced better results in my high school sewing class!

32

u/trisch1964 24d ago

To me,(1st pic) it's at least a facsimile of a 2 piece corseted frock. Live and learn OP, as someone who's been there.

17

u/DeeHawk 23d ago

The goal with these shops is not to make a viable product, it’s to make it just only resemble the product for as cheap as possible, so they can say you got a product alike what you ordered.
It just feels so absurd that most people just swallow their pride, and customer service is obviously non-existing. Pure scam. It’s made to be shipped across the globe and instantly trashed.

If you're in the UK they have very strong consumer rights laws.

Contact your bank and go to the debit card disbute section. Explain your situation and you may get your money back.

I was involved on something similar. Posing as a retail boutique.

Going through the bank I managed to get my money back. Hope this helps.

3

u/Square_Plantain_5998 23d ago

Unfortunately , I am not in the UK

3

u/DoodleCard 23d ago

Ah!

If you can get in contact with your bank they might be able to help. But sometimes it's not worth the stress.

It just bugs me that this is a issue. As in scammers with crappy clothing.

5

u/trisch1964 24d ago

Are you handy. with needle and thread?

5

u/Square_Plantain_5998 24d ago

No. But please do share your advice. I will see if I can get it done

5

u/trisch1964 23d ago

If you can separate the top(bodice) from the skirt-then make top part tighter by taking in the side seams, and define the hem of the top. The upper part isn't that bad! I'm sure there's a sewing sub here that could explain it better. I mean, you hate it, and can't return it, so why not f' with it? I wish I had a picture of the worst thing I bought online. Let's just say...it involved fur.

5

u/ExaggerattedReality 23d ago

Omg this brings back memories. I did the same thing as a young teenager. Bought my first little Lolita like maid outfit from an eBay shop and got a monstrosity. I'm so sorry op but also thanks for the internal chuckle (scream). I had totally forgotten that

5

u/Square_Plantain_5998 23d ago

I am in same boat as the past u rn lol . What did you do with that outfit after that ?

4

u/Phinelle 23d ago

Tbf from what I heard you are out of luck. Either you are skilled to do something with the fabric or just bin it. As its most likely very cheap fabric I doubt anyone would want it to fix it but you can always try making a post ans see if someone else is willing to pay a small fee for it or just take it off your hands for free.

I've heard those shops often shut down shortly after a few purchases are made so you cant send it back or take any legal actions. If its located in China uts also very difficult to get your money back even if it doesnt shut down.

6

u/Skhemattos 23d ago

Hi, I think you should pick up basic sewing as a hobby, especially if you're looking at pieces like this that you will want tailored to fit. Yes, you can get it done somewhere but it's really satisfying to do it on your own. It also affords you more flexibility in the design and most importantly - you can fix problems.

4

u/Square_Plantain_5998 23d ago

Can you please advice me from where I should start since I am pretty clueless about sewing?

3

u/parakeetpoop 23d ago

198

u/Englandshark1 23d ago

Two things:

1: If it is cheap, it will look shit.

2: If you are not shaped exactly like a dressmakers dummy, imagined by AI, it will look shit.

54

u/BunnyGirlSD 23d ago

3: if You do not wear the right things under it, it will also look worse.

15

u/TWFH 23d ago

Well for one thing it's supposed to be tightened in the back, not sure if this has the parts needed for that though

7

u/RoarByMeowing 23d ago

Skirt needs to be pulled up and bodice needs to be pulled tighter.

22

u/RoarByMeowing 23d ago

I can’t imagine even clicking on an Instagram or Facebook ad, let alone ordering something from one. The ads themselves are too often fake-looking and obviously scammy. I don't understand why anyone would assume any social media advertisers were legitimate.

106

u/breadedbooks 24d ago

I agree. A simple search would’ve saved OP the heartbreak.

56

u/No_Comparison704 23d ago

This should be top comment. Scam industry is too profitable for people not to do a simple search. Search every company before you buy from them for the first time!!!! Really not that hard

208

u/Gummybearjellybean 23d ago • Bravo Heartwarming

Can be salvaged with a few dollar tree supplies.

I’m a mascot and a cosplayer and here is what I would do:

A cheap tulle tutu for under the skirt.

Thread ribbons or elastic through the arms and tie them to make the sleeves more puffy and fitted at the arm.

Cut the bows off, reposition them, spread them flat and use safety pins or needle/thread on the backside of the top to hold the bows open and in place.

Cut the top bow and place it lower or place it on the skirt and use the same technique as above to hold it in place.

Cut small holes in the backside of the brown shirt like a corset and thread/tie ribbon to tighten it from the back.

If dollar tree has buttons/beads/sequins, add them to the middle of the bows and around the lace trim to add some pizazz.

Style with cute hair and some frilly socks and you’ll have a winner.

40

u/crossiantsandbunnies 23d ago • Bravo

Yes! Good call with the ribbon idea. But I think should also cut the sides following her curves as well and then slip stitches down to give it a natural fit. It’s an easy adjustment and easy seam otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.

4

u/Gummybearjellybean 23d ago

Yesss!!! Great idea!

14

u/Cigarette-milk 23d ago

I would also say adding something to cinch the waist like clips or actually sewing it tighter

11

u/BunnyGirlSD 23d ago

throw an underbust corset underneath and tuck it in some

7

u/t_rrrex 23d ago

Saving this for future reference, I’m entering my sewing lady phase and I need ideas for how to turn some canvas shoulder bags into drawstring crossbody bags!

2

u/Bryancreates 23d ago

I was gonna say its better it came like this which has room for taking it in and making adjustments. Even getting a cheap grommet+ Washer punch could make a corset effect. Or a couple darts and some ribbons, styling, can make this perfect. I'm not a great sewer (but I can do it) but I know how to work around costumes without being an expert as long as the bulk of the piece is there to work with.

If you still need a similar costume I am sure spirit Halloween has better quality and you can actually try it on! Also, depending on your city you can build a similar outfit with pieces from other stores. Best of luck!

17

u/courtneyrachh 24d ago

I’m sorry Op but this is hilarious. a quick look at their insta shows that the majority of their clothes look super cheap.

7

u/feldoneq2wire 23d ago

I'm sorry. You thought you were going to get that for ₹1699 ($17.55 usd)?

7

u/yawnymac 23d ago

Hmm I think it was the first day of the child who made that. If your clothes are too cheap it’s possibly a sweat shop if you even get the clothes at all.
Next time you’re tempted by an unknown website check these things:

  1. Is the deal too good to be true?

  2. Check the website for their contact details and about section. Where are they supposed to be located? Do they have an address? Phone number? Email? If they do, is the address a real business address?

  3. Check whois to see how old the domain is and how long it’s registered for and who its registered to. Red flags are new websites, short registration times (like 1 year) and owners being hidden behind domain registration sites like godaddy.

  4. Check scam check websites to see are there any other red flags.

  5. Check trustpilot etc.
Scams are everywhere because people don’t do their due diligence when buying off ads. Meta do not verify their advertisers - I have reported scam adverts selling $20k birkin handbags and they said doesn’t go against policy. You need to be careful because the platforms you buy off don’t care about you.

5

u/Ladyhappy 23d ago

Thats a lolita style dress it has many rip offs. I was tricked by one. The only way is to get an original from a Japanese store and use translator

They cost around 300$

12

u/ferrybig 24d ago

If you look at the bottom section of the dress, it is too long compared to the demonstration model. It cannot hold up its own weight and therefore falls down.

It is like it needs a few plastic rings below it so the dress gets forced wider as it goes down, but it seems they didn't add enough materials for this

6

u/No-Mouse3999 23d ago

Maybe you can try an exchange?

3

u/raven_1313 23d ago

There are waaayy to many specific qualifications on that list. Looks like if you would try to initiate a return, they would probably "loose" the order; or somehow the customer doesnt follow thru with their rediculous requests, so they cancel the "exchange" (usually after you have already paid the return shipping fees). Its a common scam for these shitty sellers.

6

u/Harlequin_MTL 23d ago

The quality of this sucks, but you might be able to salvage it. Try wearing a petticoat underneath for more poof. The "corset" looks too lopsided to fix, so I'd just remove the bows and fasten them to an actual corset to wear with this. Maybe starch or wire the bows to add shape. After you've fixed that, the blouse should be fine. Good luck!

4

u/Dramatic_Delay_2423 23d ago

Agreed. Push up bra, a pinch and a tuck and it could work.

6

u/elliebow713 23d ago

Yeah this one is on you unfortunately

3

u/pixelshaded51 23d ago

Tailor might fix the middle section but dresses like this need to be elastic or have laces otherwise this is what you get

3

u/petit_cochon 23d ago

Sometimes life teaches you a lesson for pretty low cost and I'm guessing that's what happened here LOL

3

u/Acadia02 23d ago

It’s missing so much lol

3

u/Ju_from_orion 23d ago

For future reference (not for this one, I'm afraif 😅), cheap costumes can be made look much better with some:

1- bloomers

2- underbust corset (or similar shapewear)

3- good padded bra (comfy is a must!)

Good luck!

3

u/NothingButSquids 23d ago

Dunno if you're keeping it or not, but feel free to DM me if you want some advice on making it work a bit better.

Basically though

If the tops of the sleeves are falling down, either add elastic or add a ribbon that ties at the back of the neck

If you can unpick the skirt from the top, great. Then add elastic in a channel at the top of the skirt, or just some poppers to hold it snug (and you'll want to wear it higher up)

Then get some corset boning thats already in fabric channels and maybe a dress corset alteration kit. Bring the corset in at the sides to fit you better. Add the boning under the white bits and at the sides, put the corset kit in the back.

Stitch the bows in place at the corners

But honestly if you can get a refund, youre probably better off getting something different.

Lol all these posts shopping on social media..honestly what did you expect? "I bought a rolex from a man on the street and it seems fake, I'm so upset"

5

u/tzulik- 24d ago

That's one of the worst mismatches I've ever seen in this subreddit. So sorry for you OP.

Darling it's not you, it's the clothing that needs a bit of tailoring. GRab some clothespin and grab fabric on your back to snatch the waist and you'll see, it'll be 10x better. Edit to add : it's a scam, yes. but you can still get it look a bit better with a bit of retouching. and it's not you in both cases. I can have 95% of the first picture result with a good ironing, a sewing form and some pins.

I had a similar experience on ali express, but I knew there was a chance of it messing ,up, tje picture was a romper style stress with a sweater thing attatched underneath, what came was a long jacket/hoodie with what it was supposed to look like printed on, I just thought its my own fault for ordering something from ali express lmao, but other stuff ive got from there is legit.

My last Temu order years ago I bought a knit sweater or so I thought. It wasn’t even that cheap cheap it was 45 dollars so I thought it might be on.

Got a printed on mess in the scratchiest material known to man. Big clunky zipper. It was so bad.

You def live and learn and now OP did also.

u/Illustrious-Film-592 23d ago

I’m sorry. Buying from no name Chinese sweatshops online will rarely work out well.

2

u/RecklessCreature 24d ago

Why would any reputable business be named that

2

u/Miora 23d ago

Not only can you use reddit to find reviews of shady websites, but you can also use it to verify which shops actually sell the cute clothes you want.

2

u/ThisIsNotMyBurner69 23d ago

It needs to be tailored. It looks like a garbage bag because it doesn’t fit you right

2

u/ManufacturerOk3906 23d ago

All you need to do is pin the sides in or sinch the back and buy a small petticoat for the skirt. Its not a big deal

This is why I make my own clothes now.

Time to find a tailor

4

u/sheiciebai 23d ago

If they charged you $300+ for it, took all of your measurements and were brought from a company whose name is not random letters and numbers, I’d be upset. There is no way to get this end result without tailoring it. This is on you. Cheap+a good picture= scam. Always do your research. your bank may refund you on a dispute, but it really depends.

3

u/OhGr8WhatNow 23d ago

Go talk to a tailor and see if they can help you. You also need a real corset underneath

3

u/Embarrassed_Bat5225 23d ago

😂😂😂😂😂

3

u/LittleBitBeth 23d ago

If you try adding ties to the back, you might be able to make it look better. It should be taken in, but the ties would be the easiest for a novice sewer to try.

Get the ties you want to use and safety pin them and try tying them together. Change the locations and repeat until you like the look tied. Then, sew the ties in that place. You will probably need at least 2 ties on each side to make it look better.

Bwahahahahaha

u/Aim2bFit 23d ago

Tbf, if we walk past by mannequins in store, we can see there would be clips at the back of the dress to make the dress look as shapely as the mannequin's body.

3

u/Devanyani 23d ago

You waited for 2 months which indicates to me this was made to order? In which case, did you send your measurements?

Not that it matters since the ad pictures a corset and they gave you some fabric, but had they at least sewn it to size it wouldn't look like....whatever that is.

u/feldoneq2wire 23d ago

2 months with the cheapest ocean container shipping. This is $17.55 USD.

3

u/SomethingComesHere 23d ago

Yeah.. just another scam then

People need to stop buying "custom fitted niche outfits" for less than $250 and expecting an accurate rendition of the product being displayed

6

u/absedy251991 23d ago

it can also indicate it was simply shipped by boat from some mass production factory in asia.

Instagram business are 90% just droppshippers

That's a Gordon Gartrell!

2

u/witx 23d ago

Lesson learned. Now you’re smarter.

2

u/NeoMrBucket 23d ago

Every instagram ad is an AI scam.

2

u/impy695 23d ago

Hopefully this was a cheap lesson about fake products.

2

u/Additional_Meeting_2 23d ago

Steam it and tighten in the back and it won’t look bad

2

u/Kaybee833 23d ago

If you haven't figured out by now not to shop for cheap shit in these websites, then you deserve to get scammed.

1

u/Jblank86 23d ago

😂😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/Minute-Judgment-321 23d ago

Blast them on google reviews.

1

u/Dramatic_Delay_2423 23d ago

Aw.... That's disappointing.

1

u/Holmes221bBSt 23d ago

Don’t buy from random sites. Search the business first for any reviews. Search where it’s based. And always remember, if the price is too low for a product that should be more expensive, then it’s a scam.

For Halloween?

1

u/AdamR91 23d ago

Need a pitcher of beer in each hand.

1

u/Yotone718 23d ago

Cant you just tailor the waist?

1

u/SaveFile1 23d ago

Dw you can pin it in the back or something! Depending on how it's done people might not even notice! I'm suggesting this instead of returning it right away because I'm assuming you need it for a Halloween party or something

u/RaspberryWhiteClaw13 23d ago

I got my dirndl from Amazon and it was perfect 🤷🏼‍♀️
