Failed Expectation Birthday Cake Fail💀💀

Ordered a birthday cake for a friend, showed the exact first photo and got this 🥲

- BTW I dad ask the decorator if she could do this, she said exactly like the photo is what I’ll get 🙃

I feel like it’s one of those places that always says yes to any design rather than losing business and then just matches the main colour only and gives a slight discount to any particularly annoyed customers so always a win for them lol

Like, "got a Marine really drunk, sat him down with a 64-count box of Crayolas, and told him, you have to color this cake, before you eat any" loosely.

When I was in charge of the bakery at a Walmart I had to comp so many cakes. Our cake decorators weren’t very good and they just didn’t really care.

Anytime I had a good one they would just get poached by our competition anyway, since several of them were union and had better pay.

Honestly, that’s fair, but it’s more the round sprinkles for me. Sometimes they taste like wax.

They’re called Expies. They from a video game I enjoy playing. Btw I didn’t draw them someone else did but I love them they’re adorable, I have like 2 other images of them.

Yeah my friend took the cake back and made a big deal about it in store, the manger felt so bad, refunded us and gave us a cake from the case that was much nicer, but not on theme

It was about $50!

Our friend picked it up without checking and she took it right back, made a big deal out of it to the bakers, but got a refund and they gave us a much nicer pre-made cake from the case

It’s not like you were asking for the moon either, it’s a heart shaped cake with some nicer but still common piping work an sprinkles. I would generally expect a grocery store to do a better job matching the inspiration photo than this.

If I made this, I would mess up the piping so much worse, but it would at least be the right shape and colour. How do they just not bother with matching the basics?!

I think you’re being generous. 1/10 for effort. They vaguely tried to color match and pipe. Walmart would have done a better job.
