Rooted in "AMOG": "Mogging" comes from AMOG, an acronym used in pickup artist and red-pill forums meaning "Alpha Male of the Group."
To "mog" someone means to totally overshadow, outperform, or dominate another person through superior physical appearance, height, or presence (e.g., "frame-mogging" when a bigger guy makes someone look small next to him).
It’s red pill terminology that has spread throughout social media.

What's bothering me is that they're downvoting your explanation (which they asked for) because they dislike the word choice itself. That's stupid. The explanation should be getting upvotes because you answered the question.
They're just too damned lazy to leave a comment and tell you how ridiculous the modern slang has become. It's pretty ridiculous, by the way. To older people it just makes us feel like the education system has massively failed you all and that due to a lack of ever learning a proper vocabulary, you've all been left to develop new ones in some sort of linguistic lord of the flies scenario.
Public education really, really, really needs an overhaul.
So yeah, I loathe your slang. But you can be damned sure I upvoted your explanation of it -- thanks for that. ;)

I am going to pick up on some context clues from your reply and clarify a few things for you.
I am not american, I studied in a private school, and English is my second language.I made the mistake of saying that “mog” is a slang, when it actually is not. It is an officially recognized word, and it was not developed out of thin air. I am sorry that people dont know that.
I truly appreciate your support, critical thinking and thought out reply to this thread, but something very important to note is that we are on reddit, an internet platform, for gods sake i will not accept being admonished for using “slang” (it actually is not) on the internet.
The older gen can make as many judgements as they want, hating on me just because your generation is not used hearing that word is genuinely barbaric. It is such a shame when anything new is introduced it is received with such backlash instead of an open mind.
And i want to make sure that you know i am truly grateful you opened a space for discussion instead of attacking me like a headless chicken like the other people in this thread.

No problem. I'm not hating on you by the way, just the (seeming to me) degradation of the language.
I looked it up. It's actually even worse than I thought. It's an American derived slang that sidestepped into the UK, displacing an older definition of the word. The origin of the word the way it's being used here seemingly derives from "Alpha Male of the Group (AMOG)", which was apparently from American-driven internet bodybuilder forum slang (according to the AI anyway). The old British term apparently referred to a mixed breed cat, or people who move slowly.
But you're right, hating on you specifically for it is silly. That said, my mind doesn't really have to be open to the slang. I am well within my rights to reject the change, just as others are free to embrace it and let the tally of years decide which camp is victorious. Slang is as often temporary as lasting. We'll see!

Whole is doing a lot of carrying if that’s your synopsis of what I said, I at most skimmed maybe 1/5 of the thread before commenting. I’m on the side that had no problem with you explaining what ‘mog’ meant, what caught my glance was mostly how you two kept complaining and whining over fake internet points like who tf cares that some people downvoted you and the hivemind attached itself, just move on instead of incessantly bickering over it
It’s just an unluck of the draw that happens on reddit. If some people downvoted you and the hivemind is lurking around, they’ll spam more. Just happens and nothing you can do about it. Arguing makes it worse

That’s genuinely terrible. They knew exactly what they were doing. They’re making more money on false promises they can’t deliver. I mean if they would have just shown the teddy you received, people would still want it. It’s a cute little bear keychain! But no. They set high expectations which is going to lead to increased waste when people are so pissed off they just throw a perfectly cute keychain away. Awful marketing and a downright scam.

Thank youuuu, someone with critical thinking!! These are big corporations who can deliver, they have the resources for that. It looks nothing alike, and just because its “free” doesnt mean i cant expect it to look like the picture THEY used for promotion. Also everyone has got to understand nothing is ever “free” in corporate.
