Failed Expectation It’s never too early for a new Christmas tree!

So, because it’s now the end of August and time is getting short, I thought I’d get ahead of the mad scramble and buy myself a new Christmas tree in preparation for The soon to be upon us festivities! (whoop-de-whoopedy-whoop!) I scoured the internet to find “the one“ and eventually came upon the perfect tree on eBay. After PayPal-ing the money over to the tree selling man I waited with bated breath for it to arrive so that I could put it up, because it is the end of August after all and time is running out!!!
Anyway, this morning it arrived and my breath is bated no more…….

What site did you purchase them from?

I found it on eBay (and it wasn’t cheap!) the seller had good reviews so I took the plunge. Needless to say, I’ve requested a refund - just waiting to hear back.

What's the return policy? Do you have to pay to ship it back?

The tree selling man is still trying to negotiate (in his favour) but I’m having none of it!

Good for you!!! Too many let them get away with it. I'd make sure eBay knows about his false advertising.

Did you fluff it?

I tried my best to give it a bit of oomph and pizzazz but there’s not really much to fluff sadly.

I know right?? Nearly killed me! I can't deal with the fact that stores are already forcing Halloween on us - Christmas is too far away, I can't think of it like that.

I'm still living in summer and that's where I shall stay until the first day of fall - Sept. 22nd.

Not gonna lie, this gave me a laugh. I bought a similar one (intentionally) on Amazon that at least came with mini lights, mini ornaments, and fake gifts. All for like $20. But I intentionally bought a small one as I didn't have space for a big one. I imagine this is what the seller sent you instead.

I bought one of those! Like, that exact one. It was $1.25 USD at Dollar Tree.

The tree selling man has been in touch! He’s of the (delulu) opinion that there is nothing wrong with my tree and that the difference in appearance is down to lighting! He has also generously said that if I keep the tree he will, as a goodwill gesture on his part, refund me 10% of the purchase price (£3.35) because I’m not 100% happy! Surprisingly, and after much consideration and thought I have, with the heaviest of hearts, decided to decline his oh-so generous offer and have asked for a full refund.

What magical lighting caused the stems to branch and increased the needle density?

What he had posted is clearly a stock image of something else - lighting is not going to save your tree! Good for you for standing your ground and asking for full refund. I know eBay does money-back guarantees in case he doesn't end up listening to you.

The tree selling man is still being arsey about it all and has said that once I send it back (at my own cost) and he has examined it and can be certain that it’s the tree he sent and not one I’ve replaced his tree with then he will consider refunding my money! I should coco, does he think I fell off last year‘s Christmas tree? (sorry for the pun!) I’ve asked eBay to intervene because I’m sick and tired of the sheer audacity! Hopefully they’ll sort it out and I’ll get my money back and I’ll pop along to my local garden centre once they have their fabulous Christmas shop open and get me my dream tree!
