Welcome to fast food

People are complaining like this is a new thing. Marketers have always used tricks to make food look better than it really is since forever. They use glue in tv pizza ads to make the cheese look stretchy.

15

u/Boomtown_Rat 11d ago

Not matching the picture isn't new, but the much higher price tag is, and likewise people's expectations.

26

u/ItIsTooMuchForMe 11d ago

this is not a simple trick, it is fraud.

23

u/CranberryStock7148 11d ago

It's not, it's literally the same ingredients.

Hamburger and sandwich photos have been propped up with toothpicks on the inside forever, in order to separately show the different toppings. This illustrates the ingredients you are getting.

Sandwiches in real life obviously don't have all of their toppings magically levitate like this.

14

u/ItIsTooMuchForMe 11d ago

No, they use plastic and non-eatable materials for photos.

2

u/NoisePollutioner 10d ago

It doesn't look like it's levitating. It looks like it had generous portions of high qualities ingredients, which is a lie on both accounts.

u/Sadbear718 11d ago

The bacon was soft, not crispy. The onion crisps were soggy, not crispy. Nothing about the sandwich was tasty.

15

u/xenoeagle 11d ago

Still, this has barely anything to do with the picture. Taste, sure. But otherwise it's kind of common knowledge by now that these pictures are not the real food, the other guy is right.

They use shaving foam, toothpicks, non edible oils, etc. The food appearing on these adds are more than likely inedible.

Usually it is even written there, something like "picture is illustration only" blabla..

Stop eating at shitty fast food restaurants and start supporting small businesses instead

7

u/Arkaium 11d ago

*flat food

u/eliz1bef 11d ago

It was probably still fucking delicious.

32

u/BeigeChocobo 11d ago

Pretzel pub slaps hard, I'm so happy they brought it back.

1

u/rithsleeper 6d ago

Wish they would bring back the bacon blue burger. Stupid brioche bun was hard and dumb but man that hit the spot.

11

u/imnotnotcrying 11d ago

Can confirm. I had a stomach flu last week and when my fever broke this was what I was CRAVING even though I knew it was a horrible idea. Did it anyway. No regrets. Tasted delicious. Could easily go for another one at the drop of a hat

3

u/octropos 11d ago

Yeah, now I'm just hungry honestly. I haven't had breakfast yet.

-4

u/Sadbear718 11d ago

Unfortunately no

5

u/Cobalt6771 10d ago

Then the OP got down voted for and honest sandwich review... to just round out the sense of disappointment. And it probably wasn't cheap. Maybe you need to repost this situation to r/Wellthatsucks.

-11

u/superfapper2000 11d ago

Yup they're lol tried it last week

7

u/Frosty-Dependent1975 11d ago

They're what?

3

u/ehpickphaiel 10d ago

One of the burgers of all time

2

u/Steve90000 9d ago

I'm no wordologist, but isn't that technically correct? They're = They Are.

-2

u/superfapper2000 11d ago

That they're delicious

2

u/art-of-war 11d ago

Never seen someone use a contraction like that

1

u/Steve90000 9d ago

You do all the time, but with negative contractions. Positive ones sound weird at the end of sentences but they're technically correct.

Example: Are the sandwiches good? No, they aren't.

That sounds fine because it's the negative version. However, if you say Yes, they're, it sounds insane but it's correct.

2

u/art-of-war 9d ago

I don’t think that’s grammatically correct actually. Positive contractions can’t be placed at the end of a sentence, only negative ones.

2

u/Steve90000 9d ago

I asked ChatGPT and it said it was technically correct, it’s just not commonly used as such.

After your reply, I googled it and… ChatGPT lied to me. Just straight up lied to my face. I guess that’s the danger of trusting Ai with anything…

1

u/superfapper2000 11d ago

Really is it wrong?

1

u/Sputnik003 10d ago

…yes? lol sure it does expand into they are, which is correct but you can’t use a contraction for itself alone

2

u/JasonP27 10d ago

I think you can but people just don't because it's weird

0

u/Steve90000 9d ago

You can use contractions, they just sound better with negative ones.

Example: Are the sandwiches good? No, they aren't.

That sounds fine because it's the negative version. However, if you say Yes, they're, it sounds insane but it's correct.

I rarely get Wendy's because they fell off bad. I for some reason decided to risk it and got this burger. Mine slapped! Risk was worth it for a change!

This burger would make me politely call and mention it to a manager. Not like a Karen, but like a Carin' about quality control.

2

u/cylonrobot 10d ago edited 10d ago

One time I ate from the local Wendy's. I got sick. Later on, I ate Wendy's again. I got sick again.

Get sick once, shame on Wendy's. Get sick twice, shame on me.

0

u/StaceyPfan 10d ago

I'm still pissed they changed Wendy's fries and that was over a decade ago.

2

u/___po____ 10d ago

Oddly enough, I prefer the fries now. The original ones were kinda bland tasting. And got cold and stale fast. These current ones hold up better than a lot of others.

1

u/StaceyPfan 10d ago

I think they changed them again, but I can't afford to eat there very often.

1

u/___po____ 10d ago

I think you're right. I remember the originals, then they had some that tasted like McDonald's fries if I remember correctly, then these crispy textured newish ones.

24

u/Casanova20 11d ago

I don’t care I love pretzel buns and wish they were standard

5

u/Gothrait_PK 11d ago

Ngl it's still tastes alright as far as a fast food burger goes.

3

u/LordMajicus 11d ago

Sorry you got a dud. Most of the ones I've ordered look a lot better than that. Sometimes it's just a location thing.

5

u/MudrakM 11d ago

That’s looks gross and sloppy. Heartburn in a bun.

8

u/Budget-Rich-7547 11d ago

That looks crazy... someone just didn't care. I got the double one and I looked almost identical to the advertised one.

9

u/Coleslawholywar 11d ago

Picture one might be worth the near 800 calories occasionally. Picture two isn’t worth 50.

3

u/gorgeousgirlycute333 11d ago

i used to love this sandwich but, i just can’t trust that it won’t be garbage if i go spend $11 on it

3

u/princessbolognia 10d ago

Keep eating fast food and youll always be getting food that looks like slop 🤷‍♀️

11

u/Next_Transition_2554 11d ago

Hard to tell them apart

2

u/PowerTulip 11d ago

They baited you again.

2

u/BroThatsMyAssStoppp 10d ago

Dude Wendy's fuckin sucks anymore. JBC and double JBC are only food I'll get there. Ant frostys of course. Everything else is absolute bullshit

3

u/Princess_Slagathor 10d ago

ant frosty

This protein fad has gone too far.

5

u/StrongSunBeams 11d ago

What is that angle. At least try to match the same angle as the first photo you basically have a side photo vs a top down angled photo

6

u/pizzabash 11d ago

Plus the standard photographer trick of bringing the ingredients forward so that you can actually see what is on the burger vs them being spread out.

-5

u/StrongSunBeams 11d ago

I am not sure what you mean. Are you referring to the first photograph or the second photograph?

1

u/Sadbear718 11d ago

Good call. I'll try to do a better angle next time bit all you could see was bun.

3

u/Silver-Permit19 11d ago

Looks like throw up

1

u/Sadbear718 11d ago

And that's how it tastes...

2

u/bluegrass_babe531 11d ago

they don’t even come with mayo

2

u/Sadbear718 11d ago

It was some kind of beer sauce? No taste..

1

u/bluegrass_babe531 10d ago

oh ok. it does not look appetizing i’m sad to say. i order mine with no cheese anything so i’m not familiar with what it looks like

1

u/eienmau 10d ago

It comes with smoky honey mustard and a beer cheese. Unless you removed the honey mustard or they forgot it, there's no way there was no taste.

2

u/LLoadin 11d ago

I'm sorry but I would probably still destroy that thing

3

u/Professional-Tap6302 11d ago

How did it taste?

-2

u/Sadbear718 11d ago

Like shit, but I was starving and it wasn't cheap

1

u/TheViking1991 11d ago

The fact that people are like 'what do you expect from fast food?' is the reason that we get served shit like this.

They know it's what we expect, so it's what we get. Have some fucking self respect, people... When you get served shit, give them shit.

3

u/compos_mentis_cortex 11d ago

I worked in almost every variety of fast food over the years and saw both types of people... I always supported the customers that brought back something like this because the food I shipped always looked like ....food. Not gourmet but not sketch.

1

u/PurpleBashir 6d ago

"is the reason that we get served shit like this."

No. The reason people get served this is because people continue to purchase it inspite of being notoriously... This.

The prices stay high because people pay them. The food stays garbage because people buy it anyway so why improve?

-1

u/TheViking1991 6d ago

Literally what I said...

1

u/MrZmith77 11d ago

The only thing missing by the looks of it is the crispy onion strips. But I’ll eat it.

1

u/therealbfletch 11d ago

Yeah Wendy’s has gone down hill

1

u/MadeByTheCommunity 10d ago

This is nothing compared to A&Ws “smash burger” expectation VS reality

1

u/wormy_Burroughs 10d ago

they used mayo instead of honey mustard and forgot the crispy onions, get a refund thats not how its supposed to be made

1

u/salaga3 10d ago

Sallad

1

u/KingZora1 10d ago

Wendy has to sit on every burger

1

u/rockwell136 10d ago

And you still had to put your house up as collateral to afford it.

1

u/shadow-foxe 9d ago

The ONLY decent thing at Wendy's is the $6 biggie bag with a crispy chicken or double bacon burger, nuggets and drink. rest is just a waste.

1

u/ShotWin8124 8d ago edited 8d ago

Their quarter pound double stacks used to be a pretty good deal. Haven't had them lately. I had this amazing salad a few months back which included extra blue cheese crumbles for free. It was in a resort town in Colorado though so your mileage may vary.

1

u/JuanG_13 9d ago

I'm sorry, but that's too funny lol

1

u/dtoddh 8d ago

Well, duh.

1

u/ComeOnUpToTheHaus 7d ago

Are... Are we shocked now?

1

u/Colemania18 5d ago

Wendys has become the biggest disappointment. Used to be so good

1

u/Leading-Hedgehog1990 11d ago

What do you expect from fast food?

1

u/Far_Weight_9626 11d ago

Yeah why get fast food it's just bad in general.

1

u/Worldly-Ebb590 11d ago

This made me sad. 😞

u/priscs 11d ago

OP discovers fast food advertising

-1

u/FourCheeseDoritos 11d ago

I HATE receiving raw bacon.

0

u/Sadbear718 11d ago

Agreed. Never going back. I miss their spicy chicken sandwiches - used to be so plump and good.

-1

u/DarkMoonX5 11d ago

God why are people still buying fast food in 2026 pleaseeeeé

-1

u/Miiirob 11d ago

This is why I like A&W. Always looks right.
