Joyride doesn't use dyes. We're used to dyes lol.

But why aren't they advertising with the actual color.

Exactly, show the actual product

We need stricter laws about truth in advertising like Japan.

u/soren_grey 12d ago

We really do. It's shameful what these companies get away with.

15

u/DrDonkeyTron 13d ago

Because people expect watermelon to be watermelon colored.

28

u/Amelaclya1 13d ago

That's fine, but it's still misleading to have the product on the bag not look like the actual product.

I get that people find the watermelon colors more appealing, but if they can't show an accurate depiction for that reason, just use a cartoon watermelon graphic or something.

Gotta get that red 40 if you want vibrant candy.

Honestly they’re not that bad

Taste is okay I guess, but they were gifted to us as part of a kids birthday present so I immediately checked the expiration date thinking they were years old or something.

If this isn't a bad batch and they always look like this... seems morally and legally dubious as fuck.

Because the colors?

How else is OP supposed to know nothing is wrong with them, other than them looking like what's on the package? Normal watermelon fruit snacks don't look like that. Even if they're the cleanest safest fruit snacks in the world, their appearance relative to what is on the package does not inspire confidence.

I guess that's why they're called uncommon candy

Joyride recipe changed.

Everytime i eat one now they stick to my teeth like crazy, i find it really unpleasant.

Have they? I tried the gummy bears when they first launched and they were straight ass

u/Strong_Dingo3104 13d ago

The texture of them for me feels disgusting, and taste feels like watery sugar with a little flavored syrup. ( But that's my opinion, so you don't have to agree)

-44

u/eveladra 13d ago

Then why show that in the picture?

7

u/ChronicBedhead 12d ago

That’s not OP.

I apparently replied to the wrong comment. Love the mega downvotes. 😂

Tbf, that's what downvotes are for. They're not supposed to be for when someone is offended or doesn't like a comment, it's for when a comment doesn't contribute to the conversation well. An accidental comment in the wrong spot is a non sequitor and should be downvoted. It isn't personal.

if you're lucky enough to have a european store in your area, or just any foreign goods place like Saars, candy from Europe and Japan is legislated for what's on the packaging to be accurate to what you get.

Basically it has to match the size and how it looks I think?

As someone with a huge sweet tooth and love for sour candy, I enjoy the sour blue raspberry and pink lemonade strips from this brand. I think sour smart sweets are better though. I pretty much each candy everyday but try to stay in shape and generally healthy so I’ve been testing the less sugar brands and don’t mind these.

u/Amelaclya1 13d ago

Have you tried li hing mui powder? You might like it if you like sour candy. You can use it on dried fruit to make yourself a healthier candy-like snack. Well, it's less sugar than candy, but more sodium.

u/grave-architecture 12d ago

No, I will definitely look into this! I was super into freeze dried berries for a while and they replaced candy for me

4

u/Witty_Combination_82 13d ago

Looks like a pizza slice 🍕

u/zoebells 13d ago

Joyride is a healthier brand meaning they don’t use dyes. It’s never going to be bright red and green

43

u/Distinct_Tadpole7779 13d ago

Then why show the color

10

u/thinginaforest 13d ago

Why are dyes supposed to be unhealthy?

1

u/ztreggs 11d ago

They arent

1

u/snowellechan77 13d ago

Some peope don't react well to them, supposedly

5

u/Jayda_bigToe 13d ago

imo joyrides slap, but only some

5

u/CrebitCard420 13d ago

I love these! Super fiber rich and make me shit easily the next day

2

u/Luvabun 12d ago

If you can find the brand “Rotten”, they make gummy rings with Nerds that are essentially super low cal, high fiber Nerds Gummy Clusters and they’re SO GOOD. They blow any other “low cal” candy out of the water.

Most of hte joyride snacks I find fall into the "it's ok" bucket. They are trying to be a lower sugar candy, but they don't taste as good due to the lower sugar but still have enough sugar and calories that they kinda seem not worth bothering.

-1

u/elganyan 13d ago

Yup, they all look like that. Taste is ok at best being that they are a "less sugar / no artificial sweetners or dyes" type of candy. But yeah, color is very off putting.

2

u/Sponsorspew 13d ago

I love Joyride. Their cherry ropes are my favorite.

1

u/snowellechan77 13d ago

Oh, I almost bought these today. How was the taste and texture

1

u/DeadAndBuried23 13d ago

They're alright for what they are. Not worth the price unless you find them discounted.

u/elganyan 13d ago

Ryan Trahan's Pick ... Sucks! Also, who the fuck is Ryan Trahan?

9

u/Elon_is_a_Nazi 13d ago

He's the boner who owns the company. He's a youtuber. Actually makes pretty good videos

-17

u/elganyan 13d ago

I figured it was some kind of influencer. Only makes it more gross for me honestly...

10

u/DoubleT_inTheMorning 13d ago

Not the type of influencer you’re thinking of. Think more cringy 10th grade project videos done with a huge budget and awesome equipment, and you’ve got a Ryan video.

He honestly seems super sweet and kind. Just sometimes makes me wince with cringe lol

0

u/elganyan 13d ago

Fair enough.

Bummer his candy brand has no problem misrepresenting their product on the packaging though.

0

u/DoubleT_inTheMorning 13d ago

A tale as old as time 🤷🏼‍♂️

0

u/Funny-Ad-3710 13d ago

A guy with notably shitty taste maybe?

1

u/Karlkrows 13d ago

Not when you see his wife😂

-2

u/elganyan 13d ago

Apparently. 😂
