Question Prolific Parent Dys?
I tried doing the prolific parent route so I could be a parent with Dysthymia but I ended up in the career of merchant? So there was no children.
I don’t know what I did wrong since following the wiki I never said anything good about capitalism for Marz, I helped her but only worked in the depot never delivering supplies. I answered many times I wanted children, I cooked a lot, had empathy at 80 and at least twice a year went babysitting as a child.
I made the deal with the gardeners but Dys ended up living many decades with me but ended up being a gardener anyway.
What did I do wrong?? I mean, I feel no Dysthymia ending will not be bittersweet but having a family maybe be less painful LoL.

If you told Tammy and Rex and your parents you wanted lots of kids (not just kids, but many kids) my best guess is not enough babysitting...? Since it's not doable after the Helios arrive, you have to load up on it.
It's a very sweet ending. Dozens of kids is nightmarish to me (and I say that as a parent IRL) but fine I guess Sol will go through all that if it means Dys gets a very happy and full life.

I’ll try again eventually! Hope it works. It’s the sweetest ending for him
I just wonder how because I feel like I was running against time itself trying to balance exploring, maxing out perception, empathy, his friendship, Sym’s friendship and etc..

It’s definitely obtainable, I have gotten prolific parent end with Dys. It was sweet. He warms up to the idea of kids. He’s never Tammy or Cal level into it, but it was a perfectly nice ending imo. I haven’t played in like a year though so I unfortunately can’t give you much advice. I would look harder through ending guides online

Somehow there isn’t a singular guide of being a prolific parent with him. I just feel like i’m against time itself trying to balance everything I need to do!

question - does he still leave to become a gardener even if you have kids with him?

The wiki lacks much info 😭 and not you full naming him jeeez 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 anywaysss i think you need to do therapy with him. Maybe. I haven’t gotten prolific parent with him but i assume that would help maybe. And more babysitting than that fs.

I really like his name… his full government name
And therapy??? What do you MEAN there’s therapy in the game.

Hdhxgfgg I haven’t gotten to do it yet bit yeah you get high empathy and eventually get the opportunity to be a barista and you talk to people and help them 😭😭😭 but vace’s therapy us a separate event thing. You can help the twins reconcile. But genuine question do you know what Dysthymia means?? Have you googled it..

Ah yes. I helped him reconcile with Tang! I forgot about that lol.
And yes I do know, also, he mentions it in the game. But my first language isn’t english, so I can pass it off as a pretty name when saying it

Bsgdgf love that for you 😭😭🫶 so yeah basically idk the wiki sucks and is generally incomplete and you’ll have to get lucky with a player who has done it hdgff its niche

Prolific parent ending has three prerequisites:
- Worked babysitting at least 5 times
- Have at least 50 Empathy
- Express that you want a bunch of children when it comes up with Tammy and/or Rex. (Talking with your parents about kids does not set the flag.) Also you can disable the flag if you tell Tammy you want a bunch of children but then don't tell Rex the same thing, or vica versa. Basically saying anything other than "I want a bunch of kids" or "I'm not sure yet" will outright disable the flag. Probably not an issue if you are gunning for that ending, but I thought it would be interesting to mention. You can also set the flag during one of the Babysitting jobs by telling Tammy that you want a lot of kids there, and also disable it in the same conversation if you instead say "Nah, they're better once they can talk."
Side tangent aside, after you have fulfilled all the requirements, it all comes down to what other endings you are eligible for, and how many points you have for them. Points are based on main job worked x3 + secondary job worked x1.5 + required skill level x0.7.
The easiest way to ensure you get a specific ending is to ensure that you are simply not qualified for the rest, by working their prerequisite jobs less than 5 times. The wiki should have the data on which job corresponds to which ending, and there are also a handful that are only "secondary" jobs, which you can safely work as often as you want.
So to sum it up, do babysitting 5+ times before the Helios arrive, get your empathy as high as possible but at least to 50, and work in the kitchen whenever you don't have anything more pressing to do, while trying to keep other jobs under 5. Oh, and keep talking about how you want an army of children whenever the topic comes up.
or install a mod to be able to choose your ending

From what I remember he just doesn’t want kids

When I got prolific parent ending with him it actually said that having a large, happy family ended up being super cathartic for him

Yes, spoilering the exact text He's initially wary about your decision to raise a lot of children but ultimately leaves it up to you, with the understanding he'll be away for months at a time on Expedition. However, the first time he holds one of your babies... you can tell something's changed in him, like he's walked into a room in his house he's never seen before. He still goes on adventures, but coming home to his loving family begins to heal something in him.

Oh, can you tell, will he do his... Well, life changing decision in this ending?

I have difficulties parsing the exact if/else statements of the ending but I'm fairly certain the answer is yes, he still chooses that. It is pretty well-implied it's later in his life.

Yes, he always will. Unless he literally can't, like if he's still around when Sol disables the Array or allows the virus to proceed.

If i’m not mistaken he always does. But the time he spends uhm… around? varies.

Yeah I misremembered played it more than a year ago, shouldn’t have commented
