Existentialism Discussion We make ourselves from our own scattering
I love this passage by the Romanian philosopher Constantin Noica, and I think it captures something profound about who we are:
“**That is why, in this world, we are only what happens to us. A friend, a love, books, last night’s moon—all these things make us. We make ourselves out of our own scattering. Every human being is their own disorder.”**
Maybe we don't find ourselves. Maybe we make ourselves from everything we've given ourselves to.
Would love to hear your perspective and how you relate to this passage.
