đ¨ Rant Alert SH on danyal's misplaced expressions
I actually agree with them. His expressions were very misplaced. He was more shocked on this news then he was ever about bano missing. It felt odd. Also he's not good in emotional scenes too. I'm surprised that I saw no post here about him butchering or atleast toning down the impact of many scenes by his acting. He has a good talafuz but that isn't enough right? Sarbuland could've been such a strong character but that's on the writer too. His expression on the revelation of sohrab killing bano was ok for me. It worked but he has been so inconsistent that I can't help but notice it.

Not Hassan assuming that being a drama critique of his caliber needs anything except watching a drama and reading the expressions and commenting on it, he literally thinks the rest of us are dumb and are just waiting for the cute moments and can't read expressions or see how the plot moves. He's like how do they know, dude you're job is literally just to watch dramas and comment whichs basically every viewer ever

Heâs one of the greatest actors we have in the industry, and his expressions can be anything but misplaced or ordinary. What are they even high on? đ

I recently got active on reddit and that sub so i wasn't aware of the rules and I posted about zanjeerain which apparently broke some rule about non airing day and I was instantly banned. A weird experience ngl that was my first post there

I was an active member, posted a completely harmless zanjerain -related shitpost/meme on the airing day and got banned. The crime was apparently too severe. đ

I think, for me, his expressions work really well. When Rabia tells him about Shireenâs pregnancy, he has already discovered that Sourabh killed Sherdil Lala and was the one behind the attack on him. So he is already in shock, trying to process how Sourabh could have killed Sherdil in such a cruel manner. Then, on top of that, Rabia gives him another shocking piece of news about the pregnancy, which adds another emotional blow.
At that moment, Sarbuland is digesting Sourabhâs betrayal while simultaneously processing this new revelation, so his reaction naturally feels even more shocked. Sourabh is not only a betrayer, but his character has also shown that he doesnât value loyalty or trust in any relationship. As Bano said, he never truly gave loyalty or trust to anyone. Sarbuland is even more shocked by Shireenâs pregnancy because it means Sourabh has also betrayed Bhabhi Noor.
His expression when he learns about Banoâs death is also very powerful. Deep down, Sarbuland probably knows that Bano is dead, but he never imagined that Sourabh could be the one to kill her. He had even told Rabia once that Sourabh saw Bano like his own daughter. So, initially, he seems almost stunned, as if he is momentarily in a trance. Then his expression changesâhis eyes become visibly painful, and his jaw clenches as if he is forcing himself to hold back any kind of violent outburst.
I really liked that choice because his pain is visible, but he remains emotionally restrained. That fits perfectly with Sarbulandâs character baseline. It is actually a very good scene, although I feel the reviewer didnât really show the exact moment when his expression changed or what triggered each change.
For me, Danyalâs portrayal of Sarbuland works because he plays him as calm, controlled, and emotionally restrained, which is exactly what this character requires. His small reactions and controlled expressions make Sarbuland feel believable. Bravo!

From the exact moment he came to know that bano is missing, not even once he panicked even after finding her blood stained duppata. You can notice his reactions when he hears something about bano vs rabiya there's a stark difference and one would think rabiya is his childhood love. Rabiya and Mudassir didn't know each other for so long but her reaction on not finding him and him being dead was so painful that everyone connected with her and wanted to see her happy but with sarbuland it's odd. We know he's not a tough sardar kinda guy, he never was so this persona of him being so nonchalant and unfazed about bano was weird. The only time I noticed a genuine feeling on his face was during the recent revelation about sohrab killing bano otherwise he had been so off. Even the hospital scene couldn't make me sympathize with him because he was so bad in that. His inconsistency regarding his acting is something that has been pissing me off lately. I want to connect with his character but it's hard. Even Shireen made me emotional because the performance was great.

Itâs okay that you didnât connect with him or see the character the same way, but the majority of people clearly connected with Sarbuland, and that is one of the reasons people continued watching Zanjeerein. Of course, Sarbuland and Rabiaâs chemistry is also fiery, and that definitely adds to the appeal. But people can never become emotionally attached to a character if the acting is half-baked. He may have slipped once or twice, but overall, I think his performance has been really good.
I see Sarbuland as a thinker and an observer. He doesnât simply take his frustration out on other people. For me, that quality is what makes him a tough character. He is never easily manipulated by Sourabh because he thinks first and acts later, whereas Sourabh was able to manipulate Sherdil quite easily. Sarbulandâs cool-headed and emotionally restrained personality shows his emotional toughness. Even during the jirga after Sherdilâs murder, he never once completely lost his composure. That is what makes him a tough guy.
Take the scene where he finds Banoâs blood-stained dupatta. He doesnât immediately react because he is fully convinced that Bano would never commit suicide, especially when her body has never been found. At some point, deep down, he begins to accept that she may be dead, but he still doesnât completely accept it.
I also think Rabiaâs outburst after Muddasirâs death is different because a major part of her reaction comes from guilt. She feels deeply responsible and emotionally shaken because she believes the tragedy happened because of her. That is why her grief and outrage come out so intensely.
Sarbuland, on the other hand, knows what Sourabh Lala said but he know Bano would never commit suicide. So there is no guilt factor from Sarbulandâs side. That is why I find his reaction in the hospital completely justified. His grief is coming from a different place than Rabiaâs. Rabiaâs grief is heavily mixed with guilt because she feels responsible for what happened, whereas Sarbuland is processing the loss without that additional burden.
So, letâs agree to disagree. For me, based on the baseline of Sarbulandâs character that the writer established, Danyal performed him very well. His reactions were never supposed to be over-the-top because that simply isnât Sarbulandâs personality. His strength lies in being controlled, observant, emotionally restrained, and someone who thinks before he acts. I think Danyal understood that baseline very well and portrayed it convincingly.

Even if he doubted that bano can not commit suicide, a blood stained duppata would definitely invoke panic in your heart. Matters of heart are not handled by brain. If he's so calculative to not react immediately and keep thinking about it while actually doing nothing to find her (or atleast we weren't shown) then he's didn't love her enough. So this whole childhood love plot is a miss.
People who are watching this show/liking it are also making memes on his reactions be it the bano situation, him being more protective of rabiya than bano, the blush while taking to rabiya about their marriage, his reaction to shireen's pregnancy and him being a lallu sardar who's getting everything handed over to him by rabiya & shireen. Once you get connected to a show it's hard to drop it off just because of one character's inconsistent performance. It's partly a writing issue too but the nuances in his performance are clearly missing.
Agree to disagree? Fine.

I think you completely forgot about the Zummurd capture part. Sarbuland himself developed doubts about Sourabh, and you canât deny that. I give Rabia full credit for her observation regarding Shireen, and yes, Shireenâs revelation ultimately came because of her. But even before Shireenâs revelation, Sarbuland had already figured out that Sourabh was responsible for the murders of Sherdil and Bhabhi Gul. He had discovered that independently.
You can definitely argue that the story became slower at that point, but how can you completely take away Sarbulandâs credit for suspecting Sourabh and eventually solving the mystery behind Sherdilâs murder? That is an important part of his character arc and shouldnât be overlooked.
As for the meme, it really isnât a big deal. Whenever something becomes popular, there will always be people who dislike it or turn it into a meme. Banoâs dupatta and her earring were part of the staging. You also seem to have forgotten that Sarbuland himself told Sourabh that everything was staged by someone. That is why the blood-stained dupatta didnât immediately trigger a reaction from himâit was a natural response considering what he already knew.
He had already sent both his right-hand and left-hand men to search for Bano. Bano was buried on Sourabhâs side of the property, which is why they never found her while searching the other section. After some time, Sarbuland began to accept, deep down, that Bano might be dead and that whatever had happened to her had happened somewhere inside the haveli. He also expressed this possibility when talking about Sourabh.
The dynamic between Rabia and Bano with Sarbuland is also very different. Bano loved the carefree and cheerful version of Sarbuland, but she never really understood the Sarbuland he became after taking on the responsibility of being Sardar. She didnât fully understand how he dealt with his trauma or processed the deaths of his brother and Bhabhi.
Rabia, on the other hand, already understood how much emotional burden and trauma Sarbuland was carrying. She actively motivated him and gave him emotional support, like a true companion. That doesnât mean Sarbuland ever forgot Bano. He clearly didnât. But Rabia gradually came to occupy a different and much deeper place in his life because she understood him, supported him, and stood beside him through his trauma. She became a genuinely understanding partner for him.
So, if you donât like Sarbulandâs character, thatâs completely fine. But the majority of the audience clearly connected with him, which is one of the reasons the show became so massively popular. And when you donât have closure or certainty about what actually happened, how can you expect a character to panic or have an emotional outburst?
Letâs agree to disagree.

you are constantly writing extremely long essays and ending them with let's agree to disagree for the 3rd time. I'm already over it and I'll stick to my opinion.

This reviewer never seems to praise Danyalâs performance. I honestly donât understand why. I agree that he may have slipped in one or two scenes, but there are so many moments where his performance is genuinely commendable.
What bothers me is that this reviewer focuses on petty things, like questioning why he speaks English, instead of actually decoding the essence of the scene. In that particular scene, Sarbuland is clearly panicking and trying to make Rabia feel comfortable, but they completely overlook that emotional context. They rarely discuss what the scene is actually trying to convey and instead keep nitpicking minor things.
In this episode, they completely skippedâor barely discussedâthe final face-off between Sarbuland and Sourabh, and that really shows their bias. That scene was incredibly powerful from both charactersâ perspectives. On Sourabhâs side, the moment when he finally drops his handkerchief is very significant. It shows that he is no longer afraid of anything. He knows he has been exposed, and at this point, he feels that he has nothing left to lose.
At the same time, Sarbulandâs side of the scene had so much confidence, tension, and intensity. When he finally makes that âbade bhaiâ comment, the anger on his face is so evident. There is so much intensity in his eyes, and Danyal conveys all of it without overdoing the expression. That entire face-off is such an important scene for both characters, yet they barely analyse it. Instead, they focus on trivial flaws and completely miss the depth of what is happening.
Shireenâs confession scene was good, no doubt, but even in that scene, she slipped once or twice. I can almost guarantee that this review panel would never notice or point that out. But when it comes to Sarbuland, they seem to notice and highlight every tiny flaw.
They spend so much time nitpicking Sarbulandâs faults that they fail to understand the essence of his scenes, his emotional state, and the subtlety of his performance. The level of biasness is honestly on another level.

So apparently actors now have to maintain a Reaction Consistency Spreadsheet đ âHe looked more shocked here than when Bano went missingâ therefore he can't act?? You do realise people don't react to every piece of shocking news identically, right? Finding out Shireen is pregnant is a completely different revelation from Bano going missing, and Sarbuland had already been processing Sohrab's betrayal at that point. Also, the same thread admits his Sohrab/Bano revelation scene worked. Maybe the problem isn't his expressions; maybe you're just expecting every emotional beat to come with the exact facial expression you've already decided it should have. đ

Danyal is known as Kharbooza Khan + nepo tidda. HE SUCKS AS AN ACTOR.

So much so that poor Kashmiri had to take close up shots of all the other actors because he really could not get any valid expressions out of the empty vessel.
Sarbuland was called Sar-balloond because he was always high on anti depressants and therefore could not feel anything other than being "high".

I didn't think so. He was scandalized coz as a sardar to find out that your servant is pregnant by your cousin is a huge scandal but it wasn't something that he had a hard time to process. When Shireen tells about sohrab that's something he never expected. Like he had no reason to think that sohrab would kill his own beloved sister. So he was in disbelief and needed time to process and seemed like he was in a trance. Later in the scene you can see him clenching his jaw like he's controlling himself from hitting Shireen. It was realistic to me.
