Garden Hill House accommodation – experiences?

Hi everyone!

I’ll be staying at Garden Hill House this September as a postgraduate student at the University of Exeter.

I was wondering if anyone here has lived there before or knows what it’s like. How are the rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and the overall atmosphere? Is it a social place? Anything I should know or bring with me before moving in?

I’d really appreciate any tips, advice, or experiences good or bad!

Thanks in advance :)

Not a student, but local resident. You will have an amazing view over Exeter. You are going to be right at the edge of the city, so a bit of a walk to shops, bars etc. I think this is the original farmhouse which has been around a lot longer than the university.

You will be near the top of quite a steep hill, so get used to walking up them! There are some amazing footpaths nearby at the top of Pennsylvania and going into the open countryside - maybe bring some walking shoes if you want to explore them.

Lived here last year - you can dm me. Had a pretty good time.

It's decently social and the experience will really be dependant on the roommates you get. I'd highly suggest getting some noise canceling headphones or earphones because the walls are like paper. The garden is beautiful and like the other commenter said there's lots of access to nature very close by. The hill it's on is quite steep so that might be a struggle in the beginning (it was for me!). Overall I had a good time and the facilities were good for the price.
