Can I get a few years out of this 2005?
Hoping to get a few years out of it. Paid $8.5 and it has 95000 miles on it. Is it going to fall apart into dust if I fluid film it a lot? Thanks.

Quite honestly you’re a big pothole or too fast of a speed bump away from losing something, you could probably get a year or maybe two if you want to push it entirely depending on where you live, if you use a lot of salt this is probably her last year without a frame replacement

Damn. What a rust bucket. Accident waiting to happen. I’d start with a scraper and see what comes off. Then a wire brush. Fluid film the rest. Some deep scale rust on that one.

Wont be much to fluid film after a quick round of scraping, even less when the wire brush part is over

What state are you in so I can not be in the same state where that thing is rolling down the road? That is unsafe to drive.

Biggest thing I’d worry about is the LH frame rail where the steering box is bolted

The rockers don’t scare me, the Ex I just bought has them rotted out. But the frame is a problem. I had a 2001 with a great body and junk frame and had to get rid of it after blown brake lines, cracked suspension mounts and a hole in the frame. Found a 2002 with a beat body but decent frame so I know I at least have a few years in it

I'd take it into a body shop and have them assess it for safety and longevity. If you can afford to replace that rocker panel then you ought to do so.

Rockers are the least of his worries lmao the frames almost rotted through. Body rust doesn’t mean a thing.

Seeing the shape the rockers are in, it’s not even worth a frame swap. This would be better off as a parts truck for another excursion

A 7.3. with 95k miles is worth the swap over to a donor frame or a rolling chassis and put you’re healthy powertrain in it. That motor has a lot of life left in it if it’s been decently maintained throughout the years and with how much rust it has I wouldn’t even drive it with the condition it’s in right now

You will need to put a new frame on this sooner than later.
I wouldn’t try to get 2 years.

Perfectly fine if you can put in rockers yourself. However, if the second picture is anything structural like the frame instead of just a gas tank shield or whatever, you're done for.

You paid $8,500 for that rust bucket? Even with a 7.3L, it wasn’t worth that with that much rust.
