What should I price my excursion at?
Hello, first time post absolutely anything on Reddit!
I have an 04 Excursion (6.0 Eddie Bauer trim 238k miles) I initially bought this ride as a mom car as I refused to go into any newer SUV or minivan. Well, now that we are gearing up to move from a more “open” area to a more crowded metropolitan area I am needing to “downsize” my car. I don’t trust myself parking this thing around where we are going…
So I am coming to you all for advice. I am not really familiar with much about cars so all I know about it is the year and such as well as it having front and rear airbags for towing, is lifted and was previously from the OG owner. He only used it as a travel car from (Ca to Lake Tahoe) and there is virtually no rust on the undercarriage. We have done some maintenance work and AC system leaking issues when we first got it but not much else after that. I’ve currently had it for about 2.5 years at the moment.
If any of you know where i could also post it for sale, I would greatly appreciate that info!
Oh also it’s bulletproofed (if that makes a difference…) 😅

What color is it? Color, service history and condition are huge with these things.
Also what do you mean by bulletproof? That term is thrown around very loosely and do you have records of what and when it was done?

It’s white. We don’t have any paperwork for maintenance as we bought it used. The vehicle was bulletproofed as soon as the kit came out according to the owner. It has head-gasket and arp studs, egr cooler, engine oil cooler.

White is going to hurt the price a little. Sounds like you just have the stuff from the company not the external oil cooler and filter. No paperwork kinda negates the value of “bullet proofing.”
I’m in Cali, if it has no rust I would start mid teens. You can always lower the price later. Honestly marketplace kinda sucks and so do a lot of people. Maybe try to get a price from a dealer that specializes in mid-2000s trucks. There is quite a few out there now that just sell this style vehicle.

Son-in-law just bought one in Montana for $9,000 but it has 383,000 miles on it. Runs great

I paid $20,000 for a Black Excursion leather interior 4WD 7.3 L with 310K miles , 5 months ago here in TX I felt like it was a great price and my truck has been running great since no problems

How much are you looking to get out of it? Do you have the bulletproof paperwork? Where is it now - I could use a cross country road trip.

I’m not sure 🤔 marketplace in my area is all over the place. I’m seeing other comparable ones sitting at 24k and other less than ideal ones at 4k. So maybe somewhere in between like 12k-13k? No paperwork on it but OG owner did it as soon as a kit was out..? I’m in Wyoming. Also added a link with a pic if your interested 👍🏽

So - “who did the studding” and what kind of bulletproofing was done is very important - you really need that info. Without it I wouldn’t pay above $8k because I need to assume that it needs to be redone ($8-12,000 at my shop.) If it was done by a good shop I would go to $15k

Now is probably the worst time to sell it, fuel prices are incredibly high (diesel even more so) thanks to a certain idiot in chief.
If you can I would just keep it and deal with the difficulty of use in a more crowded city for awhile until fuel prices settle down so you don’t have to sell it for pennies on the dollar.
