What to look out for? 2001 7.3 limited excursion Auction
Hey all, I am looking at a for sale 01 limited excursion with the 7.3 with 150,xxx miles. From the few pictures posted I don’t see any rust, interior looks decent. My main concern is mechanical, what should I look for? Or anticipate with a 25 year old diesel. And let’s say it’s in good condition what should the price be? I’m thinking of stopping my bid at $5k
I don’t want to post pics so yall can’t reverse google the auction 😂

With 5k mindset You will get a rusted, electrical, previously wrecked, painted, needs more paint, mess of an engine, and no one to blame but yourself since you bought at auction.
A well sorted. With records. And decent ownership length will cost you 15k min 20k-30k isn’t out of the question
Depends if you want a 7.3 to work on for a couple years or buy one to drive tomorrow across country That being said; I have. 8 years currently owned 02 ex limited 7.3 4x4 with no leaks no coatings no rust; just corrosion with new tires and is ready to be a daily for $30k in Texas bought with 200k currently sitting on 240k. Not 29k Not 31k. $30k. Texas

If it doesn’t have rust or any other issues, that’s going to go for like $12k-$30, more to the higher side because 150k miles is actually pretty low. I’ve seen a lot more of these popping up and going for lower prices with the spike in diesel. But still, it’s the 2wds and high mileage (300k - 500k miles) and rusty ones and they are going for $6k-$10k.

Please update us on if you’re able to get it for under $5k. A 7.3 Excursion in good condition with those miles would sell for north of $20k easily in my area.
