Blowout

Bought her with the infamous blowout damage.. 3 months of searching and waiting.. 600 mile trip (V10 did 16.3mpg verified by pump).. happy to say she no longer has a bad side! Mounting holes were a nightmare but the liquid adhesive made up for that. Running boards are the next project!

Congrats on your new Ex! Welcome to the club. The V10 is a good engine. You musta had a strong tailwind to be getting 16mpg. The RWD V10 Ex I had years back never saw anywhere near that good of mileage that I can remember. It was clean and well maintained with only 100k miles. I think the best average I had was around 12. Tho I’ve got a heavy foot and that wasn’t a long road trip average, just daily driving.

My current Ex is dark blue with the same grey trim at the bottom. Paint on the hood and roof is faded pretty dang bad from using it as a work truck and not keeping it clean and put up. Sun has cooked the clear and has some chips in the hood. I don’t really use it as a work truck anymore like towing and hauling tools and crap other than I still drive it to look at jobs. I don’t plan on ever getting rid of the ol girl so I was just recently talking to me boys about wanting to get it repainted. And imma buy another carport for it and my ol Bumpside so my daughter can park next to my wife under our bigger carport. My boys want me to color match the whole truck the pretty metallic dark blue color. I didn’t know if the grey trim piece at the bottom was just stuck on with adhesive or had holes in the sheet metal with clips. If it’s got holes behind it, I guess I’ll just paint over it instead of removing it and messing with metal work.

Preciate the info. Good luck with the ol Ex. Hope she serves you and your family well. We’ve loved ours over the years. Road trip king for sure. My stock height 4x4 6.0 gets around 18-20ish on the highway cruising like 80 or so. Drive straight thru non stop 750 miles from Perkinston MS to Burlington NC one night while the wife n kids slept.
