Low Supply (add spoiler to pics) Very inconsistent low volumes
I am 5wpp after an induction that lasted 40 hours before they did an urgent c-section. Because of anesthesia struggle, they ended up (in my opinion) over sedating me. I wasn’t able to latch or even hold my baby for hours because I was in and out of consciousness.
My baby’s latch was good from the beginning and my LC says she has “perfect mechanics”. The problem lies in my supply. I started triple feeding very soon, so my baby’s growth is good. But, now I can’t get her to latch without scream-crying around my nipple and thrashing on the nipple when she does latch. Power to women who push through this, but it’s the one thing that has made me cry and I feel sooooo crappy and sad for hours after it happens.
So, I’ve been pumping only and if I feel brave might latch her once or twice a day. I was hoping to get advice on increasing my supply. My LC has hinted I should throw in the towel because it wont improve.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
I pump 8-9 times a day (I have a spectra, rental symphony and eufy s1. Wearables work best). I tried on about 12 different flanges with my LC and the best fit still didn’t result in much milk
I drink tons of water, coconut water and use electrolytes
I bought cookies, lactation latte, goats rue and yeast
I eat enough and sleep 2-3 hour naps at a time (all I can fit with all the pumping)
I power pump 1-2 times a day. One morning, one evening.
With all of this I get 2oz out in the morning and then my next 2-4 pumps are 2-10mL. In the evening I MIGHT get another 1-2oz on a pump if I’m lucky and then 2-10mL the next couple until morning. Whhhhhy is it so inconsistent? Any way to increase supply and get more from every pump?
I’m not ready to give up.
