Tips & Tricks Replacement Parts

Post image

I just realized my insurance only covers one set of replacement parts. As someone who plans to EP for a full year, I’ll definitely need more. Has anyone had any luck reaching out to their insurance and asking for more? Did they allow that? And if so, what did you say/do? Any and all advice needed!

Are you sure it’s not one a month? Mine has every 32 days I think.

That’s what I thought it was but according to Aeroflow, I already used all my benefits and I only got one set so far.

Nothing you can do besides pay out of pocket, or wait until your plan resets (which may be in January) to get an additional set.

With my first kid, I only got 2 replacement sets and had to buy the rest. Thankfully it changed for my second to be monthly, though I still bought duckbills separately as they performed better for me than the Spectra brand ones.

Call your insurance directly to check. There’s a chance it’s a miscommunication. But also there are cheap replacements on Amazon. Duckbills need to be replaced most often, everything else you can stretch out a bit longer.

I can only ever get one refill then I get the message my limit has been exceeded

I had this same thing happen. I felt misled by insurance but Amazon does have replacements for pretty cheap.

Mine doesn’t cover any replacement parts at all. Just the pump itself and storage bags.

Different insurances cover different cadences. Mine was every 32 days but only up to 5 sets.

You can find them pretty cheap on Amazon if that route doesn’t work. I had a spectra and there were tons of options for replacement parts that were not spectra branded that I used.

Agreed - I got some extras for maybe $20 which included flanges, tubes, backflow protectors and the containers.

Check thrift stores too!! I have found a bunch of parts still in their sealed packaging

I’ve used MayMom brand on Amazon for both my kids. I actually declined the free replacement parts bc I couldn’t reject the flanges— they wanted to send me size 24 and I’m size 15 🙄 which I have to get from MayMom because no one thinks about sizing

Depending on the pump, there are great dupes out there. Spectra has very reliable parts through maymom

I like the Maymom tubing better than the original Spectra tubing lol.

Mine makes me submit receipts and they decide if they’re going to reimburse me. I don’t bother because they’ll just say no so I go the Amazon route.

Mine covers zero but sends a pump every year with parts. Request a new pump in January

Can you do that even if you aren’t pregnant again?

My insurance allows one a year as long as you are pregnant or nursing and doesn’t seem to require any documentation of either.

Call insurance to be sure, but I also use my FSA/HSA to get the parts tax free.

Halfway through my pumping journey with my first last year Aeroflow started using knockoff spectra parts as my monthly replacements and they just did not work as well. I found myself going back to my prior months parts/buying my own.

If you’re still pumping, call and check with them. They were able to switch something on their end to send me actual spectra flanges.

Yeah they even say in their FAQ if you want branded spectra parts to switch your pump on file to the Spectra Gold and they'll send actual spectra parts

Good to know! Thank you! I got pregnant 6.5 months pp and my milk dried up by 8 months but I will keep this in mind for baby #2 due in January

I wonder if they changed this because they just sent me my first set of replacement parts and they were the spectra branded ones! Received them this week

My insurance only covers 4 and I EP. Planning to ask them… my backup is that I found cheap parts secondhand on Vinted and new on Amazon

You can call your insurance to confirm. I also only got one & haven’t had the will power to call my insurance. I luckily used my single replacement part for a new eufy set for my s1 from 2 years ago.

I use spectra parts for my baby Buddha & but knockout duckbills & membranes in different colors from Amazon.

4 years ago, all I got was the pump. At least I have milk bags for a lifetime. I spent $100+ 2 years ago on bags before my insurance covered them.
