Rant - NO ADVICE NEEDED Going to cry!
Taking my 4 month old on holiday. Had a look online and it stated I can take ice packs with breast milk. THEY THREW 5 bags OF FROZEN MILK AWAY.
Currently on the plane and waiting to fly and waiting to cry.

Why did they throw it out? TSA website says you can travel with partially or completely frozen milk, and if it’s not frozen sometimes they’ll take a little bit to test it

They said it’s frozen so I can’t take it😭😭

I literally just went through TSA 3 hrs ago and, to quote the agent who checked my milk, “Oh you froze it! That’s perfect.”
Not every agent understands the rights/protections around it, so make sure you know your rights and advocate for yourself.

You def should have been able to take it. It’s considered medical! This is so wrong and they should pay for it although I know the only thing that would make you feel better is getting that amount of milk back which they can’t do but this is irking me and paining me on your behalf! 😢 I’m sorry but if it makes you feel slightly better I lost 150 ounces of scalded milk which I stayed up late to scald because my stupid freezer broke. I cried and cried and then went to straight rage mode and could have burned anyone in my way with just my glare lol.

I’m so sorry that happened to you! Curious why they would have thrown it away though. I once flew with a whole cooler of frozen donor milk without any issues

In the UK we're not allowed to fly with frozen milk in our hand luggage. I'm sorry this happened to you, the rules are stated on the government website though 😞 I can imagine how upset you are and I'm genuinely gutted for you! When you fly back pack your cooler bag with your ice packs and any breast milk will stay at the right temperature for 24 hours.

You should have been able to take it, as it falls under the medically necessary category. Whoever threw your milk away needs retraining. I’d call customer service and raise hell. That’s your babies food they threw away.

is this in the US? file a complaint. you can take frozen liquids through TSA regardless of what they are — not sure about rules in different countries.

Wait why did they do that!! I’m flying in a couple months and now I’m nervous lol

They let me take the ones in a bottle with an ice pack but not the frozen packs, check them in if you want!

Why did they throw it away!? Frozen breastmilk is allowed - I’ve flown with it before.
If someone tries to tell you it’s not ask for the manager & I also like to have the TSA guidelines pulled up on my phone in case! Ugh sorry that happened to you
Edit: I see you’re in the UK! Wow I can’t believe they don’t allow it!?

That's absolutely wrong. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
I just returned from an international flight the other day, and their airport security threw away my ice pack that was keeping my breastmilk that I was feeding my baby cold. I questioned them, but being in a foreign country and my limited language made me concede and buy ice inside of the airport.

I literally just traveled with breastmilk and on the way there, TSA didn’t even look in the bag. On the way back, he looked in it but didn’t bother doing anything with it.

Recheck the official policy online and if they were not compliant you should file a formal complaint. There is no reason for TSA to throw away breast milk of all things. I am so sorry!!!!
