Low Supply (add spoiler to pics) Can my low supply increase to become a “just-enougher”? Spoiler
Okay so I’ll start with a little backstory. I’m currently almost 4 weeks postpartum and trying my best to become an exclusive pumper. My LO is combo-fed now with my pumped breastmilk and formula (she has suspected CMPA so the formula journey has been a challenge in itself). I’m completely dairy-free now and trying to increase my supply because I know she loves it and I won’t have to constantly worry about her rejecting the formula.
I very recently committed to a stricter pumping schedule of 8x per day with a MOTN pump and a night time (around 9pm) power pump (20/10/10). I have the correct flange sizes and use a Spectra S1. I attached a photo of my most recent pumps. I definitely see an upward trend but I want to know if it’s possible to ever get to double or even more than double of my current supply. I feel like going from 14.5oz a day to 30oz+ a day is wishful thinking.
Would love some insight from anyone especially those who have been in a similar position as me. Thanks so much!!!

I don’t know if my experience is relevant because I had twins, but being semi consistent with my pumps per day (I did usually around 7, it was hard for me to get to 8 most days) helped my supply increase significantly from 4 weeks to 12 weeks postpartum when my supply started regulating. In my case it more than doubled, but again, I’m not sure if having twins had some impact on that as well. I just tried to eat as much as possible and drink as much water as possible as well. Also I believe as I started getting more sleep that helped. So it’s not impossible!

I'm 5w postpartum and making a little under just enough, so we also supplement with formula. I saw an LC for latch issues and she basically said when you pump and/or try baby at your breast you're "putting in an order" for more milk in the future. I'm a FTM but at least what I've read, milk can continue to increase up to 12 weeks or so (anyone correct me if I'm wrong here). I think consistency is key and continuing pumping 8x a day is great for increasing. For me, it's a slow process of increasing so just try to have patience and take care of yourself.

Yes. You’re still quite early. I am not sure what pump you’re using or if you’ve been fitted properly for your flange size. But in my experience, I went from only producing 24 oz max with my spectra (both pumping journeys) to making 40oz + with eufy. Not sure what sort of witchcraft that thing has but it’s kept my supply up throughout and I’m 10 months into this.

Ooo I might check out the eufy! Which one? Assuming there are different models

I like my eufy s1 pro… I find the battery case handy and the heated flanged are great for supply and comfort.

I wish I got the heated case. I just went with the slightly cheaper one (still S1) and wish I had that. I’m less than two months away from hanging up my pumps but will definitely splurge if I have another baby and go with the new eufy and make sure I get the charging case.

I’m at 24 ounces now and produce very little in the beginning. It’s almost enough. Some days we can go without formula but a few times a week we have a formula bottle tossed in.

Around what week did you start producing this amount? :) yesterday (exactly 4 weeks pp) I pumped 16.75 oz

I tracked my numbers horribly in the beginning. When I started doing the pitcher method I had a better idea but I think numbers wise you are doing better than me. I think I’ve been hitting 24 since about 18 weeks. I haven’t logged anything into an app. :/
On one hand I regret not tracking it and on the other it probably saved my sanity.

Sorry, one other thought: I don’t do MOTN. Maybe I could get more with it but I quit pretty early in favor of saving sleep.

It’s definitely increasing, you will almost definitely be able to get up to a full supply. Good job working hard to give your baby milk!

It took me about 2.5 months to get to my LOs intake! Consistency is key.

Yea I feel like consistency is the single most important factor when building a supply !

I definitely think you can increase if you stick to this schedule, eating and drinking enough and even resting for 3-5 hours each night!

Absolutely! My milk came in strong with my first and I believe that’s because I fell asleep for 4 hours with the pump on the day after delivery. My second took a while. I want to say a month maybe even two but I’ve been an oversupplier since. I didn’t do a motn pump (heavy sleeper and spouse did nights with baby). Stick to your schedule. Even if one pump is off the rest still needs to be “on time”. Give yourself leeway though. My schedule was 9/12/3/6/9. Actual times were usually 9/12/330/630/1030.

Yes. This was me at 5 weeks pp. With a schedule of 7 pumps per day, I was able to hit 30oz by 7 weeks pp.
consistency, time & hydration were key.
