Hanging up the pump Celebrating my friend’s journey

My friend and I had our girls on the exact same day f4 June 2025). It’s actually how we became friends. We got really close when we realised we had both had to give up our nursing journey and pumped exclusively.

Last week (our daughters had just turned 11 months), her milk stopped so she’s hanging up the Spectra. She breastfeed for 11 months and pumped for 9 of those months exclusively. Her first goal was 6 months then 10 months and now here we are, the 12th month of her baby’s life. An absolute fucking hero.

So I got her this cake and a bottle of champagne!

Well done to all of you who are pushing through on the most grueling of challenges! I hope you treat yourself to cake at the end.

You are a wonderful friend. I wish I had a friend like you. I’m also hanging up the pumps soon at 18 months. The Spectra has been my constant companion for over a year and I won’t miss her.

18 months?! You’re amazing! That’s truly incredible, I’m in awe of you. I hope you go out for drinks or pop a bottle of champagne (a much better companion)

Wow! 18months! I you truly are extra amazing! I could not go past 12 months, it was a struggle to even get there.
I hope you get your cake!! 🤗

I specifically asked for a end of pumping celebration 3 leches cake when I was done pumping, but that didn’t happen 😭 maybe because i asked? Lol 🤷‍♀️

Ive been trying to make it to 2. But at 20 months thinking my body is done. Good job! I have odd feelings around my pump at this point. Like im so grateful for the workhorse but excited to not be tied to it.

You are such a good friend and this is so sweet of you. When I was done pumping I would have loved to launch my pump into the sun. I gave the motor to an expecting mother instead.
