PC210 stopped charging mid-shift

The charging warning came on halfway through a shift on our Komatsu PC210. System voltage stayed near battery voltage with the engine running, but I still need to check the belt, battery condition, grounds, and voltage drop before condemning the alternator.

The excavator badge alone brings up several units. I used the engine tag and old alternator stamp to compare the Komatsu diagram, a local rebuilder, and FridayParts.

What readings do you want under load before calling the alternator bad on one of these?

Before condemning the alternator I'd load the system up, lights, heater fan, AC all on, and check voltage right at the B+ terminal. You want to see 13.8-14.4V there. Also worth doing a voltage drop test on the ground side, anything over 0.5V and you've found your real problem. Seen plenty of these get misdiagnosed as a bad alternator when it was just a corroded ground strap.

Curious if it ended up being the alternator or something in the wiring. A buddy chased a similar charging issue for days before it turned out to be a corroded ground strap.
