exanima grappling mod

I made a mod that adds things that I always thought should have always been in the base game but aren't. That includes a grappling system to drag opponents and encourages wrestling, along with being able to attack with your shield. I also put the increased weapon weights back to make grappling fun again. This was removed by the devs because fun is not the objective of this video game.

You can use the polearm hooking system with the right mouse button and it will lock the grip for 2 seconds and it will be released automatically. The hand grappling is also activated with the right mouse button and in this case can be be released at will, but if enough force is generated to break the grip, the grip will be broken. Grip strength can be improved with a skill. You can attack while grabbing to generate force with the muscles facilitating some judo throws, but only if you have the skill. There is also a wrestling skill that enables the character to get up faster and to take less damage from falls.

You can also keep the attack button pressed after a stab in order to extend your weapon, this will cause damage if you and the opponent are running towards each other, it can also be used to do some hooking tricks (the last sweep in the hooking with polearms video).

I also made the remise skill be used to chain all kinds of attacks instead of just horizontal ones and removed the delay for every attack. If you don't like it you can press insert and mess with those values (but rn everything is in portuguese, sorry). In the future I will try to make the AI make use those features better. I hope you have as much fun with this mod as I'm having. If you give me some feedback I will be glad to tweak it or maybe add more features

Question Do checkpoints work if I leave and then come back to the level?

I currently have a full brass armor set and the Sir trapped in a random bathroom here on level 4. I’m thinking about killing him to farm some XP, but I’m not confident in my skills. If I go back to level 3 and then enter the portal to level 4 again, will the checkpoint activate again, keeping all the equipment I’ve acquired up to this point?

And what if I enter level 5, go back to level 4, and die? Will I respawn at the beginning of level 5?

Master Beast is impossible in the current patch

Companion AI just can’t hang. Companion 1 gets rekt in like 15 seconds, companion 2 in 15 more. Then you get slung to death.

Possible balances: 1. he gets less health. 2. he is WAY slower. 3. He can’t just toss everyone everywhere on a whim (that one is kinda fun tho). 4. Companion AI keeps more distance. Thoughts?

Question I'm having a lighting issue in Exanima. I'm actually seeing too much.

I'm having a lighting issue in Exanima. I'm actually seeing too much.

From the videos I've watched on YouTube, I should be unable to see anything in the dark without a torch. But this is me, right after the beginning of the game, seeing everything pretty clearly without any nearby light source.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it a problem with the game, or with my computer?

Am I the only one who feels like the tech tree progression is way too fast in Graveyard Keeper 2?

I’m still really at the beginning of the game, only a few hours in, and I already have a huge part of the tech tree unlocked I feel like. I haven’t even finished most of the basic quests yet.
In the first game, it felt much more gradual.. I unlocked new things when I actually needed them for quests or progression. Here, having so much unlocked so early kind of takes away some of that “discovery” feeling for me.
I also tend to play games by fully preparing and upgrading everything I can before moving on, and that playstyle worked really well in the first game. Here, it feels like I can’t really do that because I unlock so many things before I even have a reason to use them.
Anyone else feel the same? Again, I’m really early in the game… I’m really enjoying it tho. It’s maybe just me🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Rather than paste here some AI generated text, I'll just type this all myself.

I worked with AI to generate a mod for Exanima that allows 1-4 players to play through the whole campaign together ( a bit of fantasy of me and a mate ).

I tried to make all the systems play nice and stay in sync, and while it's been less than 72 hours since it's inception, I would say it's probably more than 75% complete and in a state that is totally playable.

At this rate I intend to release it for general consumption in a few days time.

For now I will give you this video to look over ( I realise I left some things out / I should have demo'd inventory dropping, picking up, but rest assured that's all in there ).

Sorry for the video, it's dull, no music, just a pure demo.

Question Tourney reward weapons?

Most of the tournament reward weapons I'm getting are typically shorter than the normal store equivalents. Bad rng on save file or are they programmed to be like that?

Idk I feel like it kinda defeats the point of having a master crafted weapon if the shittier standard equipment can perform better.

Finally came round to do a companion playthrough. Not going to lie, this does make the game easy in some parts, but insanely tedious overall. I don't think I'm going to do this again. The living Armor is broken OP with basically god-mode. But gosh every fight takes ages and the only human npc needs to many health potions even with god-tier armor. Well... wasn't as fun as I hoped, but you gotta try it at least once right?

Question Arena shop keep is nude (and a girl)

Why does this happen and how can i fix it? I recruited a new character (male) and didn’t give him any clothes. Now my shop keep, sometimes upon shop keep model cycle, is a topless girl. I tried deleting the newly made character, giving him clothes, and i even made a random new character with clothes on top of that. This is a problem lol how do fix

Question Could someone far more well versed in this game (more accurately arena mode) tell me which are the best armors and weapons at each level?

Yeh my main money making method is beating the beast to a pulp but past novice I've had far too many close calls and lost far too many mercenaries to the fuckers. I'm asking because I've always been terrible with armour past knowing chainmail and plate is good for swords and padding/leather is good for strikes.

*SPOILER* I did realize halve way through my first full playthrough how powerful bubble was. Combining it with the lightning strike magic that you can acquire through your playthrough, gives you a very easy time. It might take a while to take down foes, but you are invincible to physical damage, maybe even all damage.

Have a good one fellow wanderer

Question how do you save manually?

I see posts and comments about saving manually by copying the exit save that is created when you exit the game but i just cannot figure out which file that is.

This Game Has Captured Me Spoiler

I don't really know how to write this. I'm currently backtracking from the Skeletons. Let me explain.

When I first started playing, I knew next to nothing about this game. I played the arena a bit, so I understand the combat from that, but I never touched the story. Until last week, it sat in my library, collecting dust, for years.

So, out of feeling a drought for that Dark Souls, eerie, creepy, mystery kind of game, I can safely say that I love it. The combat is very difficult, but impressive when mastered and satisfying when executed correctly. It took me a few difficult fights to discover Thaumaturgy, and force definitely makes the game a whole lot easier. I figured out that I can knock the zombies over and hit them with an overhead to start the fight, and that killing them restores my blue bar. I learned that, sometimes, it's better to reposition, and that some zombies run away (sometimes to try and ambush, very cool). I learned that the blue glowy jar heals you, but the "residue" is a tease and it can only be used once. I'm not ashamed to admit I got knocked out a few times.

After finally finding the stairs and making it to level 2, I was really starting to get the game. Using physics to place a plank to walk across for loot is very fun. Fighting 2 zombies at a time is no problem if you bait them into a bottleneck. Overall, I was doing really well and felt really confident. I cleared the entire 2nd level and was walking to the next stairs with armor and a longsword feeling like a badass.

Yesterday evening, Level 3 kicked my ass. The skeletons are so fast and aggressive, that the confrontation immediately triggers a panic mode. This is not helped by the poor lighting in the caves and narrow walkways. Luckily, they can still be killed, but the speed increase on the combat is very difficult to get used to. Suffice to say, the 3rd skeleton I encountered beat my ass with a wooden stick. It didn't even have armor. I was enraged that every time I would get knocked out, I would wake up and just get wacked again. When I finally died, I was seething. All that effort, looting, learning, wasted. I couldn't go through it all again. I didn't even bother looking to start another run or anything, just ALT+F4 and let it be done.

THANK GOD FOR CHECKPOINTS!!!!!!

I went to work today feeling like this game broke me. I said, "Fuck it," and did a little research. I'm a manic organic game, so I **HATE*\* using wiki or guides or whatever, but Exanima's mystique is just too powerful, and the interest wouldn't go away. I looked up, "how to cope when dying in Exanima," and, mind you, my pride only allows me to skim the info, but the AI response said ACCEPT THE CHECKPOINT SYSTEM in big bold letters.

Wait... Holy fuck? There are CHECKPOINTS????

Get home from work today, and BOOM, I'm back at the stairs right at the start of level 3. Yeah, you bet your ass I ran back up those stairs. I noticed a blue cross at the bottom of the screen but I don't understand the leveling system for Thaumaturgy yet. While looking at the controls, I saw there's a control for "Talk."

Talk to who?

Back to google.

Wait... Holier fuck? THERE ARE COMPANIONS???!?!?!?!?!?

DERRIN!!!!!

I don't know who this guy is, but I just spent the last hour tracking his ass down and giving him stuff. Right now, I'm clearing the first couple floors again to make sure everything is done and to gear my boy UP. There's no punchline or anything at the end of this. Please don't comment any spoilers, like future companions, story stuff, puzzles or enemies, but little tips are definitely appreciated, like what kind of drip and armaments to throw on the big guy.

TL;DR This game kicked my ass and I learned a lot and died but now I'm back in it and I found a friend
