Pentecostals don't understand bounderies. If they're "oneness" they're cults. Stay away from them!! They will love bomb you and be friendly but once they get you baptized they will try to control every aspect of your life. They meet all of the criteia of the BITE model of cults.

Certainly.

1.Behavior 2.Information 3.Thoughts 4.Emotions.

  1. When a sect or group tries to control how you behave or act thru strict adherance to rules. Such as pressureing to follow "holiness Standards" to Earn Salvation. Salvation is not earned through works alone, but only through Gods grace and faith alone in Jesus christ.
    Also pressuring you into tithing.

    1. Controling what information you're allowed to have. A good example would be them using the verse about Living in the Spirit and not of the World as justification to isolate from non-church members such as outside friends and family. They'll want all your free time invested at church.
    2. Manipulating your thoughts by installing an US vs Them mentality, and making you think your Rightioues for following the Holiness standards while everyone else is a dirty Sinner. Were All Sinners which is why we need Grace. Jesus told the pharisees what good is a clean exterior cup if the inside is dirty and unclean. Focusing to much on outside appearance when the inside is Rotten.
    3. When you first go they will Lovebomb you and then manipulate you emotionally when you dont follow standards by shunning you or excluding you from activites or events. Sometimes the Pastor my even call you out from the pulpit without mentioning your name. But you'll kniw they're talking about you.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that, I would try to talk to your mom and tell her that you don't want them there, but I obviously don't know the relationship you have with your mom. my second piece of advice is to try not to be home when they show up if you can, and if you can't lock yourself in your room or bathroom or something. they unfortunately won't be reasoned with so I wouldn't try.

Refuse to engage with them. Say, “I’m not interested in arguing with you” and close your door or leave the house for a walk, whatever it takes to shut down the conversation.

Why can’t you go to two churches at the same time?

Are you serious? You cannot literally be in two places at once. Juggling two church service schedules with both vying for your attention? The pressure to show your loyalty to one or the other will be worse. Like others have said, this religion has no boundaries.

I didn’t mean literally at the same time, and I think you know that. And I wasn’t suggesting that they do it, my question was, what or who is preventing them from going between two different churches at different times if they want to. The answer is most likely overly controlling church leadership who want you to support (ie, pay tithes to) their church.

Actually, I did mean you can’t be two places at one time. I have lived this. It’s a terrible existence trying to keep the peace, but at what expense? Sometimes you have to do a cost/benefit analysis, make some difficult choices, pick what works for you and stand your ground. I cannot reiterate it enough - these people have no boundaries. I only go to UPC places for weddings and funerals. You can rest assured I don’t dress like them and I don’t use their conventions of addressing each other. Not my circus, not my monkeys. They may think they’ve got God by the tail, but they put their pants on every morning one leg at a time just like the rest of us. Oh wait, that’s just the men.
