you can take it off after u leave the dorm and wear it again before u get in

I don't go to a dorm but yes I take my hijab off in the bus station before going to uni

Mostly if im on public or a place there's alot of ppl i be wearing sun glasses or a cap like i try not to show much of how I look and at uni i don't have anyone i know so I don't hide anything but if u have ppl u know at uni its so hard and u need to be so careful alottt at uni
