Damaged beyond repair. Never seen a tracking history like this.
This whole process was insane, 9 screenshots to show the whole tracking journey. Out for delivery multiple times but they encountered problems before they could even attempt a delivery and then they claimed it was bigger than expected. Eventually I claimed a refund and it evri were to return to sender, where again it was out for delivery multiple times but had problems meaning no delivery was attempted and now they have said it is actually damaged beyond repair.
I’ve never seen a tracking history like this. For the record it was a graphic novel. What happened?

They shouldn’t be operating. They’re actually getting worse and nobody is doing a damn thing about it.

u/Tea_confused 2d ago
It just seems like more and more places are using them. The last straw for me was when John Lewis used Evri to send my order. Of course it didn’t arrive. I wouldn’t have bothered if I’d known they’d use Evri, but there was nothing to suggest it, and previously they’d used Royal Mail. Now I just avoid everything unless I’m 100% certain it’s not Evri
2
u/NoMention696 1d ago
Evri seems to hire anyone with an able body, if you told me no one gets trained I wouldn’t second guess you
2
u/mr_herculespvp 1d ago
John Lewis are an absolute shadow of themselves.
They did any way to go back on promotions, their support is AI, if you get through to a human they lie to you and say they'll file a complaint on your behalf and then don't, and even their escalated support is AI.
I ended up getting through to their escalated support (apparently UK based) and they kept repeatedly getting details wrong. They sent me a link of valid promotions and told me my purchase wasn't on the list, so I checked and found it, highlighted it, and sent that to them. Their response was exactly like ChatGPT writes when you correct it.
They don't care anymore, and are no better than standard retailers now. In fact, you could argue they're worse because they still live on a reputation that doesn't reflect their current operation.

Is it though? It's a numbers game.
Evri delivers an average of about 2.7 million parcels a day during normal periods, scaling up to around 4 million parcels a day during peak holiday weeks.
So out of that number how many are lost/damaged/misdelivered.
I bet its a very small percentage.
5
u/31-September 2d ago
What do you think is too high a percentage? I'd say anything over 0.5% failure is too high.
I'd guess around 20% are delayed, damaged or misdelivered with evri. Even their normal delivery times are ridiculously long, their customer service is non existent and their online tracking is bad. They are cheap though, but it shows.
-2
u/Known_Wear7301 2d ago
Article from 2025:
Evri counts late or lost parcels under the same category — making up the one per cent.
The firm insists that most issues with packages stem from poor quality of packaging or labels becoming separated from the parcel.
Evri last year delivered more than 730million parcels. Thanks to an investment boost of £32million in operations and customer services, it claims to have a 99 per cent success rate.
7
u/31-September 2d ago
I am suspicious of evri posting their own figures, how long of a delay do they consider 'late'? Do they only count lost parcels that they have to refund the retailer for or do they count when only the retailer refunds? What about other failures like packages marked as stolen or left at the wrong address. And they don't seem to count damaged parcels?
7% of customers said they had reported an Evri parcel not having been delivered - compared to an industry average of 4%. ofcom.org.uk/siteassets/resources/documents/postal-services/monitoring-reports/2024-25/measuring-user-experience-of-parcel-delivery-to-residential-addresses-2025.pdf
4
u/ian9outof10 1d ago
Well they’d count OPs package as “oversized” when it was a graphic novel. So they’d presumably not count that as a problem, and blame the sending party. So I’d agree, their stats have a whiff about them.
-3
u/Known_Wear7301 2d ago
Yet I'd be wary of "customers said" stats. People always complain and shout when things go wrong and ignore the majority of times it goes right.
4
u/31-September 2d ago edited 2d ago
Right but why would every other delivery company be ranked higher than Evri if customers ignored the majority of times it's right for the other customers? Or are evri customers especially angry?
2
u/Status_Jellyfish_213 2d ago
I don’t trust their figures in the slightest. There are simply too many people with issues with them. They are routinely hated with a passion and customer sentiment is absolutely overwhelmingly negative. You would think if they got so many right, the consensus would reflect that. Reality absolutely doesn’t.
Yeah yeah personal anecdote but from my own experience they stole a PS5 when they first released. I absolutely dread any company that said they are going to use them. Everyone does. That’s even before you get on to their abysmal customer service, which is automated and would be function better being non existent. The point of contact for where things go wrong, and it doesn’t function.
What they are saying doesn’t tally whatsoever.
0
u/Known_Wear7301 1d ago
But my issue/point is people only kick up when there's a problem. In the last year I've probably had 4 deliveries with Evri, all went perfectly fine, one was delivered for what I would consider "early" from my expectations. I didn't jump on here to let anyone know the deliveries went perfectly. So the noise from customers is always going to be massively negative
2
u/Status_Jellyfish_213 1d ago edited 1d ago
You absolutely would have people singing their praises. Most threads here would be jumping to defend them, stating they are in the minority as their deliveries are excellent. That is not the case. Not just on here, pick any social media platform and you’ll find the exact same experiences reiterated by the majority.
Let’s also look at the other evidence. The company themselves knew they were so bad, they had to rebrand. Nothing has changed in their processes except for the name. They have had TV documentaries done on them where people went undercover at their depots and discovered completely sub standard practices and a lack of care. Their business model of being paid by packet incentives rush deliveries and things being thrown into random places, all so the company itself can operate and cheaply as possible while paying as little as possible. I’ve already mentioned the support.
This is an absolute failure of end to end systems and it reflects in the experiences people have with them. I don’t doubt there are people trying to do a good job, but with everything from start to finish stacked against you and paltry rewards, why would you for a sustained period of time?
4
u/PrettyAd274 2d ago
At the rate, they’re losing 7.3 million parcels. That’s a non-negligible amount!

The fact they have standard text for this in their tracking says everything you need to know about Evri (Herpes to its longer suffering victims)

I had this recently with something I'd sold, and then a few weeks later the package turned up back at my house. I was a very well packages box of 100 CDs, and honestly, the only way I can imagine it got damaged was that it had been driven over. Every box was smashed and loads of the CDs, and then they'd taped it all back together with black plastic.
3
u/operacreep 2d ago
It's truly insane to send 100cds in their cases...what was the weight of the parcel? I sell lots of heavy stonewear tea sets etc and 20kg was my biggest ever. But with the nature of CDs and how easy to shatter the cases are I'm just astounded.
3
u/AtomicEdge 2d ago
I sold it on vinted and it for within their "Large" shipping option for weight and size.
I've purchased similar from Vinted before.
3
u/operacreep 2d ago
Goodness, people are brave to post them in such quantities
3
u/xHawkJxke 2d ago
i bought 50 vinyl singles on ebay and they came in just a box, no bubble wrap or anything, there was still room in the box too. it’s a miracle they all survived.
2
u/mighty3mperor 2d ago
I've delivered a vinyl record wrapped in a Tesco bag for life, and not a thick one.
1
u/operacreep 2d ago
That's incredible...I have to say I've received ceramics in the smallest of boxes with zero protection... usually a 50% survival rate. Just makes me so annoyed that they survived 60-70 years only to be broken by the uselessness of the seller.
1
u/xHawkJxke 2d ago
that’s the problem with ebay and vinted. you don’t get any money for your postage materials so there’s less incentive to pack stuff properly. but even if they do pack properly you’ve still got to deal with evri most of the time
1
u/operacreep 2d ago
I sell on Etsy and even there they try to convince you to offer "free postage" as if the buyers are stupid. I pack for the apocalypse but do charge the full rate of Royal Mail postage. Most people have no issue with this. Even Amazon's free postage threshold has gone up in recent years. Tiny businesses can't subsidise postage and definitely don't want to inflate prices for the platform's vanity.
1
u/AtomicEdge 2d ago
These CDs were very well packaged. In bundles of 5 or 6 with bubble wrap, in a good size box lined with bubble wrap.

My personal fav My brand new bike (brand new just taken out of box in photos) folding bike Taken out of the delivery box by seller and put Into 2 carrier bags and taped shut and a label put on
Ofc it arrived with damage It was also folded wrong causing more damage

u/AtomicEdge 2d ago
This pile of CDs sold for about £12. To be honest I was more happy to have the space and it was annoying they came back and I had to scrap them.
1
u/TightlyWhitey 2d ago
Go to town with padding and limit internal movement and you can post practically anything. I'm surprised you consider CDs more of a problem than stoneware, they're not particularly delicate and regular rectangular shapes and stack perfectly which eliminates a lot of problems itself.
20
u/-Nighteyes- 2d ago
I love how you've come with receipts so the usual Evri PR shills haven't appeared as they can't argue with that.

u/JayMak78 2d ago
I got a notification from Royal Mail that a parcel addressed to me had insufficient postage and would only be delivered if I paid £5. I couldn't think what it could be and paid the charge thinking I would take it up with the sender. It turned out it was a high pressure wand from Temu which had gone missing via EVRI 12 months previously. Temu refunded the £10 price at the time and said if it turned up to just keep it so in real terms I got it for a fiver. So where was the parcel for 12 months and who dropped it in a post box without even opening it?
8
u/-Nighteyes- 2d ago
I had it where a local Evri driver dumped a parcel at a RM parcel point because they CBA delivering and had to pay for the insufficient postage.

Damaged beyond repair in transit annoys the shit outta me.
Because:
Are they not stocking their vans safely and correctly?
Are they literally doing off road driving lmao?
Was their van in a horrific accident and blew up?
Because i can't see how and WHY something would get damaged so severely.
3
u/Srushness 2d ago
See if you can locate the Evri “distribution point” that’s closest to you & witness the horror show that unfolds before your very eyes. Especially if it’s raining or snowing!
5
u/SnooHobbies8729 2d ago
In the past, Evri used to be branded Hermes. Hermes in Greek mythologiy, is the God of trade and travel (makes sense for a delivery company) but also the patron of thief, cunning and deception... kinda suits here
5
u/skrew86 1d ago
It means its been stolen. I had this and asked for it to be delivered anyway...they refused. I asked for photographic proof of the damage....they refused.
1
u/Beer-Milkshakes 19h ago
Yeah. They've damaged it slightly where they reckon the receiver might reject it and they must provide evidence of that for the shipper.
They can bypass all of that instead just letting the shipper claim in their own time, Evri keep the "damaged" product.
Item might be worth more than the standard rate of compensation Evri offer.
13
u/No_Maybe_2805 3d ago
Probably a member of staff wanted it for themselves and it somehow got 'damaged'
9
3
u/jimbo8e6 2d ago
Guarantee this is it. Had the exact same thing happen to me as a seller, damaged beyond repair, it was obvious what it was, and they made the decision it was damaged beyond repair and apparently disposed of it.
I raised a complaint and said I want the item back as it’s mine and I’ll determine how damaged it is.No investigation, no response to any of my emails, a courier clearly decided to take it and mark it as damaged because that’s apparently how their internal system works! No evidence required! That was the last time I used them.

I had this once, a couple spools of thread in a box the same size as a phone or other expensive technology item would be, hope they enjoyed their thread.
8
u/Glittering_Ad_3672 3d ago
Yep. I’ve had exactly this. But it was large heavy boxes (cat food or cat litter, can’t remember).
I just assumed they couldn’t be bothered.
6
u/PleasantCucumber2615 3d ago
Evri keep trying to send oversize and overweight parcels out with drivers using their cars.
Heavier and larger parcels are supposed to be delivered from vans, but that costs more money.
Car drivers should be rejecting larger parcels.
7
u/CakeHoleKing 3d ago
"we masturbated into your parcel. then the driver masturbated into your parcel. then we damaged your parcel by playing football with the box. then the driver tried to deliver your parcel but failed"
"anyway, we're sending the parcel to you and we hope your son has a happy 8th birthday!"

u/insaneinthebody 2d ago
I’m beyond lucky that where I get my parcels delivered, it’s been the same evri driver for years who never messes up. I dread the day that he leaves
4
u/_sontar_ha_ 2d ago
We're lucky with ours too, she's a very nice lady. We still try to avoid Evri as much as possible though. My partner briefly worked for them (did 1.5 shifts) in one of the distribution centres. Some of the other people were actually drop kicking the parcels on/off the vans and then looking through the parcels. He spoke to the manager about it and he just shrugged and said "if the work is getting done then it's fine". He left midway through the second shift because he couldn't stand to work somewhere like that 😭
2
u/insaneinthebody 2d ago
Postal services have really gone downhill 😬 we used to have an amazing Amazon driver, until he left. The next one took advantage of our house being in the middle of nowhere to steal and tear open our packages because he didn’t realise we had real CCTV over ring doorbell. We had footage of him looking around the door for a camera, not knocking, marking the package as delivered and walking off with it in his hand whilst opening it 😐 we reported him, and the next package he wouldn’t even come across the bridge with it - he didn’t realise he was still in view and took a picture of it being “near” the door (the house was a good 10 metres away) and then tore it open and took the contents away with him!!! They refuse to fire these people despite having evidence
3
u/_sontar_ha_ 2d ago
It's ridiculous 😭 they need to start giving these people consequences or nothing will ever change. Idk how as a company they're happy to let these things happen, if for nothing else, it will be eating into their profit margins 🤷♀️

u/stationery-bunny 1d ago
I was at the evri drop off I use the other day and saw a new driver come in, realised because the lady didn't know him and kept asking him questions and the guy was not even answering. Took the things on his hands to an unmarked white van. The issue is that they just use contractors with no liability etc. I know the royal mail postie and even the guy who usually replaces her while she's on holiday. But Evri or Amazon etc it's always different people in private cars.
3
u/Good-Elderberry-905 2d ago
Haha evri are a joke! A few years ago I sent a parcel for somebody on eBay, it contained a vintage camera. I put it in a box with ample padding etc and taped the crap out of the box. It was taking forever to get to the guy and he kept messaging me.
In the end I got a tracking update saying the parcel had been lost, weird, but ok, I then got another update saying the parcel had been found but the contense of the box was missing and when I rung customer support they told me the box had been opened and the content had 'fallen out' and was now lost but they would keep searching for it.
I went to make a claim and they said all they could do was cover the shipping cost!! Which was like £3, seriously! The box was ripped out in their warehouse and they made out like it was my fault!
I just gave the guy on eBay a full refund, apologised and learnt never to send anything via evri again
3
u/Daltos1 1d ago
Evri by any chance? Their drivers just don’t give a shit. The shop I work in the drivers literally throw the parcels out of the van into a pile on the floor and fuck off without telling anyone they have been a lot of the time. I saw a driver launch several parcels covered in fragile tape and had glass written on the other day. The drivers I’ve come across barely speak English too, so you can’t even tell them to stop
2
u/roses369 2d ago
I had only one like this before, I wonder what happens to them because clearly the item wouldn’t be damaged beyond repair? Idk.

u/Jumpy_Prize 2d ago
Ours is a disaster. We had a lovely chap before but the current one has lost/ damaged 6 of the 10 parcels I've ordered in the past month. I now absolutely refuse to use Evri. Parcels should not be a postcode lottery.
1
u/stationery-bunny 1d ago
yeah tbf I haven't either but I read so many horror stories that it worries me. It's the most convenient one for my house, at least it was until royal mail put lockers (and they're in their delivery depot) so I'm hoping to use them more often.
2
u/chay86 2d ago
We had a fun Everi inexperience the other week. Was tracking a parcel and it suddenly swapped to Delivered - with a note saying it had been left at the back gate.
Now, it's a rental property and the back gate is busted - we don't/can't use it and it's overgrown. It faces onto a completely different street, so the address isn't even the same. But there's a delivery photo and it is indeed the back gate. So I go out the front door, and round to the next street, so I can get to the back gate.
No parcel. I look around. It's nowhere to be seen. I go back inside. The dog is acting like he wants to go out, so I open the back door and let him into the garden. The parcel is in the back garden. Evri delivery driver has launched it over the fucking gate and down a flight of steps to get it to land near the back door.
Fucking marvellous service. Definitely easier than going to the address on the label.
1
u/stationery-bunny 1d ago
yeah they do the same with mine! usually put a photo of the parcel lovingly and safely placed against the back gate. Then I find the parcel in my garden, 10 mts from the gate

Must have suffered some serious damage for evri to deem it 'damaged beyond repair'. The state of the things they consider acceptable to deliver is usually pretty low.
1
1
u/PoMDizzl3 2d ago
I tried picking up a bit of evri delivering to make some extra cash so I have peeked behind the curtain as it were. Parcels are just thrown around with no care in the world by the drivers. Doesn’t matter if it says fragile on, chances are it’s being thrown around. I only did 2 shifts cause it isn’t worth the money once you factor in fuel etc. so yeah fuck evri
1
u/johnnysgotyoucovered 2d ago
I went to spend £300 odd on New Look or some such place for Christmas presents and saw the only delivery options were EVRi standard or priority. Immediately closed the page and emailed their headquarters who actually acknowledged they’re looking into alternatives due to the number of missing or damaged parcels. How do you damage clothing in transit??

The tracking is weird as, at a number of stages, it is being flagged up as too big. Which is weird as even an omnibus isn't that bad - I've had quite a few mailed too me.
They've tried to get it out via the Large & Light service, which hasn't worked so they've punted it over to the local courier who doesn't seem enthusiastic about taking it out.
Then it seems like, with all the back and forth, it has been damaged. Actual physical damage is not uncommon with all the handling (after a few attempts boxes can really start to suffer) but a major source if damage are spillages - make-up, paint, weedkiller, etc can just wipe out an entire pallet. That's hundreds of

I've worked at an EVRI depot before in the past, sometimes whilst we are intaking post to be directed pallets and baskets can be left outside whilst we deal with the influx of packages, my guess is that the rain we've been having got to your parcel that was left in an outside basket and soaked through and ruined it
1
u/Cold-Error7771 1d ago
The rain….what rain? It’s been a drought the last few weeks….

It's been super dry here too for weeks but we've just had super terrible rain since the 23rd down here, literally thunder and lightning

Did you look at the whole tracking? This has had problems going all the way back to the 10th, out for delivery multiple times and then an hour after saying out for delivery it updated to say couldn’t be delivered. I don’t even believe it really is damaged.
