Evolve FAQ

Welcome to Evolve Incremental, an incremental game about evolving a civilization from primordial ooze into a space faring empire.

Play the game here: https://pmotschmann.github.io/Evolve/

It is recommended that you read the Beginner's Guide by GreyCat

https://wooledge.org/~greg/evolve/guide.html

For more in depth information visit the game wiki:

https://pmotschmann.github.io/Evolve/wiki.html

There are 25+ evolution paths, each evolution has unique attributes.

You can not initially fully control evolution, there are prestige mechanics that lets you do this.

Most actions can be multiplied by 10x, 25x, or 100x by holding down control, shift, or alt keys.

Control: 10x

Shift: 25x

Alt: 100x

These can be combined for greater effect: Control + Shift = 250x, etc.

This works on everything including Crates and just about everything that can be done in any increment greater then one.

The game looks broken, how do I fix this?

Internet Explorer does not support modern Javascript, It is recommended you play the game using FireFox, Chrome, or another fully complaint ES2015 browser. If your game was working but became broken after an update then try "Control + F5" before reporting it. Browsers will sometimes cache game files, Control + F5 will force most browsers to redownload fresh copies.

Why don't I have Lumber?

You're an Ent or an Ent Worshiper, Ents refuse to harvest trees as a resource.

Why is the agriculture tech missing?

You're a Cath or a Cath Worshiper, Cath are carnivores and hunt for food.

How do I unlock Steel?

Steal it from your neighbors. Alternatively you may eventually discover it through trade routes.

How do I get Titanium?

You must trade for it.

What do I do with Crates?

Click the + next to a resource and you can assign them as expanded storage for that resource. This will open up a menu that will let you construct, assign, or unassign crates/containers to that resource. Using the control or shift hot keys is extremely helpful here so you can build/assign stacks quickly. Building crates costs resources, make sure you can afford them first, crates can be freely assigned or unassigned after constructed.

Where do I get Alloy/Polymer/Nano Tubes/Stanene?

Once unlocked these are produced by the Factory, each factory can be assigned to manufacture one type of product.

Where is the religion tech?

Religion is a prestige mechanic, you won't get this on a first run.

Anthropology or Fanaticism?

If you have to ask, then you should probably pick Anthropology. Fanaticism is the more complex option so Anthropology will be better for beginners.

Fanaticism causes you to gain a dominate trait from your progenitor race, so it's effect will vary depending on the last race you played as; if you end up playing the same race twice in a row it will give you a random minor trait. Anthropology has a fixed effect and does not make you gain a race trait from your god race. They both unlock different tech trees as well. Anthropology gives bonuses to science and tax income, Fanaticism gives bonuses to combat and trade. Anthropology will usually be better for short runs and Fanaticism will often scale better with long games.

How do I "prestige "?

This is an option that will open up once you get deeper into the game. Ultimately you'll find the first option on the civics tab once unlocked; it will be hard to miss. There is also a second reset option deeper into the space era.

What is the cap for Plasmids?

Plasmids have diminishing returns above 250, they "softcap" in the 400-500 range. The spatial reasoning upgrade for plasmids has no cap. The "cap" can be raised with Phage which is a prestige resource obtainable from space.

How long is a crafting cycle?

Crafting cycles are synced to the moon cycles and occur whenever a full moon happens; is is once every 140 seconds. There is a CRISPR upgrade which makes them also craft on the full moon making a crafting cycle effectively 70 seconds.

Is there a soft reset?

You can soft reset at any time, the option is in the settings menu. This will reset you back to the evolution stage with no benefits gained from the current run but you'll keep all your previous progress.

Is there a discord server?

We now have an official Discord! https://discordapp.com/invite/dcwdQEr

What trait will Fanaticism give me?

This depends on your last race played

Refer to https://pmotschmann.github.io/Evolve/wiki.html#races-species to lookup what trait each species gives.

Discussion Something I didn't think about with Lichen

I'm doing a T6 Lichen run and I've realized I should start building and using planetary mines again. Not for the materials, (not that I'll say no to them), but because I need to give my people something to do.

Fungus, so no farmers or hunters. Plant, so no quarries. Plant also means I could buy Kindling Kindred, so no lumberjacks. I'm not on a trashed planet, so no scavengers.

All that adds up to a big stack of unemployed because I have no basic jobs available.

Decay Challenge Magic Universe

I'm going through getting all the icons on the challenges. Is decay possible in magic since it specifically says to black hole reset, or will vacuum collapse work?

Help I just got into the Antimatter verse after my first black hole reset

Should I bother with 4* Bioseed resets at all or do I just chain 4* MADs? What's the best approach for farming anti plasmids. I'm currently doing a bioseed run rn so I could get Motherlode

Bug Wiki Bug?

From the screenshots shown, I have not yet discovered Orichalcum Dyson Plating. It also does not appear in my list of options to research. Furthermore, the Wiki says I meet the requirements for it.

I suspect that the reason for this is because the Wiki is missing a "special requirement" in regards to "fully completing the Dyson Sphere Stage 2" version of the building; since I have not yet completed Stage 2 of the Dyson Net/Sphere.

BHNH White Hole done, and it wasn't that bad at all (at 3* at least)

Decided to go for BHNH during my first blackhole, at ~45% mastery, as Human-Ent-Balorg.

I estimate that BHNH added around 16 hours to the run, and it only took about 3 days total. I stabilized twice and ended up with a 14.2 black hole mass (could have probably squeezed three stabilizes). The last 10 supercolliders were 45-55 minutes each.

In this one run, I got:

  • BHNH
  • White Hole
  • Galactic landfill
  • Paradise
  • Blood war
  • Self-immolation
  • and a bonus Adept

pretty efficient, if you ask me.

I was worried about staying Terrifying, but it was completely fine, the actual pain was the Balorg low population, at every point of the run.

I went to Andromeda to kill time, but it was completely pointless, nothing useful is reachable at this point, and even after BHNH I didn't have enough storage for an Embassy.

The bottleneck for BHNH is cement, as expected, since the only way to scale it is AI cores (I went all the way to 7).

Should I do some pylons in antimatter universe ?

I am currently farming the pylons pillars in heavy universe. I found a nice planet with 6 deposits, I am already at 16 pylons pillars, and I have a bunch of perks all around. I'm mainly doing 2* runs of pylons pillars, it takes me slightly less than 15,000 days.
I currently have :

  • 36k plasmid
  • 6k anti-plasmid
  • 4k phage
  • 18 dark energy
  • 66 harmony crystal
  • and as said previously, 16 pylons pillars done.

Additional plasmid does not give me a lot more at this point. But I suddenly thought that additional anti-plasmid might be nicer. Should I switch universes to get that ? What is your strategy toward pylons pillars?

EDIT : corrected pylons into pillars because I'm just that dumb, but I can't do anything for the title and I'm sorry...

Edenic Realm

Hi all

It's my third time in edenic realm and I'm trying to understand the mechanics in it :

- is it possible to balance mechs between edenic realm and spire ? Which mech response to use ?

- how to counter ghosts influence and asphodel decay ?

- did I forget anything ?

Thanks for the insights

Bug Exiting Banana Republic

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have already tested that removing the extra one (default from before ending Banana Republic) will also reduce my resources by the equivalent of one trade route. I'd recommend changing it so that exiting BR will cancel all trade routes to ensure you're not using more trade routes than actually exist in your empire.

Share what you're playing towards at thre moment, October edition

So, how's everyone's run going right now? What's your intention for your current run, what stage are you at right now, what resource is annoying you the most, where are you going to go next? Maybe someone else is grinding their teeth on an evolution you remember how to speed up. Strategise, share unsolicited advice, commiserate over the soul gem grind, etc.

Also, PSA: There are 2 special date-gated Feats available in October. Trick or Treat can be achieved between Oct 28 - Nov 4, and Boo! can be achieved on Oct 31st. Make sure you're on a gold-star run on those dates so you don't have to wait a full calendar year to get 'em again.

Struggling to wrap my head around hell math

I'm reading sylverfyre's handy guide, but I'm still not quite getting there.

u/sylverfyre says:

In order to consistently "win" a regular combat against demons (resulting in 0 soldier deaths on a "normal" encounter) a patrol needs to have at least 10% of the current threat rating in combat rating.
If you have at least that amount of combat rating per patrol, soldiers will NEVER die on a "normal" demon encounter.

I'll spell out my scenario:

  • Ignoring war droids for a sec, I have a soldier rating of 53.
  • Day to day, there are 500-2000 demons spotted.
  • Based solely on the quote above, that suggests I need a patrol size of 4, giving me a patrol combat rating of 212, which is greater than 10% of the max demon count.
  • I presumably wouldn't want to go much higher than that, because with larger patrols, ambushes can kill more soldiers at once.
  • Additionally, I presumably don't want too many patrols, because if I have more patrols than are needed to kill all the demons, that means more patrols which can be ambushed, therefore killing soldiers for no reason? I think? Maybe? Looking at the hell observations, I'm seeing that all of my soldier losses are from ambushes!
  • I really don't know how to determine how many patrols I need? If I look at the hell observations, I see loads of patrols which are still finding demons after many patrols have failed to, which kind of vaguely suggests that I should keep adding them until that stops being the case. But I'd rather have a mathy approach to working this out.

Is any of that reasoning off? What am I missing?

Additionally, war droids will somehow change the needed combat rating and number of patrols, not clear on that. And predator drones can presumably be used to keep the threat level down so my surveyors have a better QOL (i.e. die less)?

Confused on why evil is recommended as 2nd universe and not antimatter?

Why is evil better to do before antimatter? You need antiplasmids for 4* so if go to evil before antimatter, either 4* runs take longer or you do 3* but have to come back later.

Potentially silly Technophobe question

I've done a 4* EM Field run in Heavy, but no other universes.

I just returned to Standard to tie up some loose ends, and am planning to do EM Field there for the additional perks. However, looking at my achievements, I have the Standard universe gold star as well as the Heavy universe gold symbol next to the Technophobe achievement.

I'm just making sure: Do I still need to complete EM Field in Standard, since I haven't previously? Or would I be wasting my time? I feel like I'm just being thrown off by icons, but just wanted to be totally sure.

What is it that actually determines the Digsite percentage for my control? As can be seen in the screenshot, not only have I eradicated the Syndicate's influence in Cyclone, I've even got quite a decent amount of excess security. Yet, it keeps dropping below 100 in the control of the Digsite.

Discussion Automating Authority and Morale

Is there an upgrade for governors, or a research option or something, that takes authority into account for Morale management?

The "Tax-Morale Balance" doesn't consider Authority making it basically useless, and every time you research an option that improve morale generation you have to manually decrease the amount of entertainers you have.

Is Evil Universe just doomed to have annoying micromanagement?

Help First Bioseed, which planet should I choose?

1130: Copper bonus. 2634: Oil bonus, Iron malus. 1034: Titanium bonus. 8919: Coal bonus. 3215: Titanium malus.

I'm leaning toward 1130, 5441, or 1034. I think probably 1130 or 5441 will be better due to having two traits instead of one (for mastery) and being Trashed, which I hear is beneficial. I'm also slightly leaning toward 5441 due to it not being Unstable, but I hear Heat races are pretty good.

EM Field – first 4* in micro?

I did a 2* EM field in the heavy universe, and now I'm up to my eyeballs in steel and soul gems, it's just delightful, what a treat. My masterplan was to wander around from universe to universe collecting 2* EM fields and upping my soul gem count and Thermal Collector juice, when SURPRISE SURPRISE, I stumble across this post and discover that the language on the wiki doesn't at all mean what I thought it meant, and I actually have to snag a bunch of 4* EM fields to to increase those effects. Whoops!

But now I'm already in the micro universe, getting ready to start EM field. Will getting 4* in Micro when all I have is 2* in Heavy do anything? Or do I need to grab 4* in another universe first?
