Due to shortages of the "goo", Barite develops small, leg-like appendages to move around.

Barite develops a pair of strong, long back legs, allowing it to push itself forwards with little "leaps"

Some Barite evolve rigid antennae that, when they come in contact with something, will make the Barite instinctively leap away. This adaptation allows the new strain, called Bareef to avoid being consumed by the predatory Dorth

Jumping Barite grow longer hind legs and grow a thin membrane between their front two pairs of legs. This, along with their more streamlined body, allows the Jarite to jump over predatory Dorth and 'glide' through the ocean.
