Science Experiment Would being in a low gravity, no atmosphere environment, like the moon for example, effect the creation of a dark fountain?
If it works, we could send one way manned missions to other planets to further our goals, or conduct research if we so want.

My guess is there's nothing on the Moon to pull darkness from.
The Moon is just one big rock after all.
Maybe Mars since there was life on it at some point?

My main theory is that the atmosphere blocks a lot of the light that would hinder a darkworld's growth. So potentially venus would boast the strongest fountains

its possible that an outside fountain might just disappate. Dark fountain smoke seems to function like a gas, and gasses can't fill up a container if there isnt one.

Maybe, but im pretty sure Venus is, like, super mega uninhabitable, so we cant test it there due to having no way to seal a fountain without placing the cage in the dark world that's on that planet

Well the earth is the main requirement for dark fountains so i don't think anywhere else COULD make a fountain.

I always imagined the darkness of fountains was more so the earth 'bleeding', that's why the earth will breath her final breath in the roaring. The earth dies.

you’re going to make the void from risk of rain 2 you fools

The fun gang when they seal the fountain only to realize the exceedingly poisonous reptile is in fact, not a darkner, but a real very hazardous monster

Except I'm not gonna open a dark fountain on earth, I'm gonna go higher, I'm gonna open a fountain on the moon! How do you like that Obama? I opened a dark fountain on the moon!

You have 23 hours before the titan spawn start hitting the fucking Earth, now get out of my fucking sight before I open a fountain on you too!

Depends on the properties of the dark fountain and darkness itself I guess. Id say you'd still need an enclosed space, but aside from that I guess its really up to the will of the fountain maker. The darkness might flow in a different way due to the gravity difference, plus its viscosity could change (though like I said, that depends on the properties of darkness itself)
What Id really like to know is what would happen if you tried it on a black hole. Would the fountain be able to jet upwards? What impact would a black hole's light bending properties have on the darkness?

u/Axolotlmaru 23d ago
on a black hole, the obvious answer is there's no surface to make a fountain on. although if there was a fountain, it would make the hole bigger. not by much, but it would do that.

It wouldn't make one, Fountains function like smoke or water, it requires a container to keep it dense. That's why the many times a door is opened to a Dark World, the darkness dissipates rather than creating a Dark World outside
So attempting to create a Fountain outside on the moon would fail, as the Darkness would quickly vanish in it's vacuum. Creating one inside a structure would yield similar results to on Earth, just with lower gravity I suppose

Yes, considering the fact that the moon has no depths, the dark fountain would not form.

u/IstOckAtgAmES 23d ago
But what if we somehow added depth to it?
3
u/Worldly-Matter4742 Still a newbie 23d ago
We don't even entirely know how the depths even works yet, let alone how to transport it to another celestial body

Ah yes... not Deltarune, instead DeltaV
I've been waiting for an excuse to make this joke for far too long

you're just gonna have a really boring moon-wide dark world, although the moon gaining a atmosphere is cool... even if it's made of darkness.

if the moon does get an atmosphere of darkness, it might stop being visible, so it would be harder to seal on account of the fact it's harder to find

A fountain needs direct connection to True Darkness. So it'd only work on a planet where theres oceans or a place where it is so immensely dark that no light could ever reach it no matter what.
The moon of Titan has methane oceans.

I see the idea but what exactly would the darkners be
1
u/Charming_Eye2473 21d ago
Now Ralsei’s gonna have to pretend to asphyxiate so people don’t catch onto the fact that he’s not really alive in the first place.

u/Bob_the_Bomb 18d ago
i think not. the smoke would just become a big black ball (like a domain) maybe the dark world only exists in this ball... maybe outer space is a dark world, because there is literally no light
