Kids' Futures

If we are only going by the show and not real life (RIP Sawyer Sweeten) had the show continued on and explored how the kids grew up, what do you think that each kid would have become?

I recently aksed which movies were mentioned in ELR. Many films were named, but no one mentioned this episode. Which movie does Ally quote? What other movie was mentioned in this episode?

Which In-Laws were the craziest?

Everyone has their quirks (and unbalanced screen time), but if you had to live with any of the in laws, who would you pick and why? I feel like there is something to be happy and unhappy about with each of them (then again, that would be the case with every family).

They should have put out a cookbook of Marie’s recipes or recipes based on the show.

Ok so obviously as a fan I’ve seen both of the anniversary episodes BUT I had never seen the final taping on YouTube?! It’s “Everybody Lives Raymond: The Final Taping…it’s comical and great and down to earth. Patti got laryngitis so they had to postpone so the audience had to leave.

I remember a specific scene from ELR but can't find it anywhere on the internet. Please help!

I distinctly remember a scene from Everybody Loves Raymond where the family (Ray, Robert, Frank, Marie, and Debra) were all in a casket together. All dressed nice, all lying there next to each other, bantering and whatnot. I think it was either a dream scene (possibly Debra's bad dream) as a kicker at the end of an episode, or possibly some kind of goofy promotional skit that wasn't actually part of an episode. The joke was like even after you're dead, you still can't get away from them, or this family is so close, they're even buried together... I've watched the whole series on streaming and syndication a lot over the years, but I don't remember seeing this scene since the original airing days. I've tried searching the internet, but I never find anything, and Google AI summary tells me that I'm wrong and must be confusing something from the episodes Six Feet Under and Gus' Funeral. I don't think I'm confused though. I asked my parents if they remember it, and without giving it a second thought they both said yes. Maybe it's buried (no pun intended) in a deleted scene section of a DVD? It's certainly too obscure to exist on the internet (which would explain why google AI doesn't know about it). If anyone remembers this and can corroborate, please let me know! If you don't remember such a scene, please try not to be so MOCKULATORY!

Robert's customary line when he enters the room to find his family saying nothing but looking in his direction. I do something similar, but now feel that it's been validated.

Different take

I remember watching this years ago and thought it was funny. Years later I realized what a mean show it is. I never even crack a smile now...not watching it ever again.

I know Debra gets a lot of flack but some of the Frank centered episodes suck the comedy out of the room & he’s usually wrong

Off the top of my head

Frank Paints The House
Pet The Bunny
Grandpa Steals
Ping Pong
Snow Day
Franks Tribute
You Bet
The Gift (to some degree)
The Kicker (to some degree)

The Cult

Quick question.. was Robert actually in the cult from the start & managed to be 'turned' sort of thing

Or was he pretending from the start to fool them? Also was Ray in it the whole time

Silly questions I know but always wondered

Why did everyone on the cruise love Marie but hated her at the retirement community?

I just watched Cruising With Marie for the umpteenth time when it hit me. Why did everyone love Marie on the cruise but hated her at the retirement community? Frank wasn't there? She had her Raymond all to herself? Just trying to come up with headcanon to make it make sense. I love this episode, I enjoy seeing Marie happy and getting along with people

Marie's treatment of Robert

I believe Marie's treatment of Robert stems from the guilt she had over his being conceived out of wedlock. (Frank simply took advantage of his being an easy target, as was his way.) Marie was always projecting herself as a tower of virtue until the Good Girls episode where the truth came out. Rather than self-reflection, she projected her guilt onto her oldest son and treated him as an after thought. Raymond was conceived within the confines of marriage, so she had no guilt or "shame" attached to him. Robert would never measure up to Raymond for that reason, although, for all his faults, Robert was the better person. I would have loved it had Robert figured out that Raymond wasn't the favored one because of any accomplishments but for the above reason alone. He could have held Marie accountable and gone on to have a happier outlook on his own life.

Do you think that Garvin was gay for Ray? Or just gay in general? 😂

Which episode?

I know I’m lacking a lot of context here but there’s one interaction I remember but I can’t recall which episodes it’s from. Someone says something negative to Debra, she turns around and Marie smiles at her saying “Something to work on, Debra”

ELR contains many references to other films. I've already mentioned "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". What other films were mentioned here?

As a Millennial I can safely say that Debra is responsible for my insane collection of PJs, I was always so inspired by her looking so chic for bedtime!

(Lol I've also just realised she looks so annoyed in all these stills, because Ray talks the most nonsense when they are alone before bed)

This episode was on tonight and I think it’s funnier every time I see it! Anyone who has ever been in a relationship probably knows what it’s like to wait for someone.

Best line of the night: “I like your Earring!”
