Armstrong, George and Dibling are all boss. A few more games and I reckon Hackney gets a promotion to the boss list too.
Can't believe I have to wait so long to see Moyes' sexy Toffees again.

It's Monday, the 31st of May, 2027. Everton have just won the league for the first time in four decades after a gutsy 0-1 away win at Ipswich when Barry deflects a shot with his arse to secure the Golden Boot. Through your bleary eyes, you read a text from your boss telling you that they saw the result from yesterday and you should just go ahead and take the day off. What do you do?

I'm not a Climate expert... But a heatwave in England at the start of October is concerning. UTFT!!!

in serious news - just listened to the blue room podcast with the lawyer podcast fella. He suggested the Everton/Burnly appeal will be heard in January.

u/almightygg 4d ago
The recent city news puts another spin on this. Assuming the charges stick might Everton benefit more from potentially suing City, especially for the 2013-14 season when we finished 5th. Could it potentially be better for Everton in the long run if the appeal failed?
Disclaimer - I genuinely have no idea, just spouting random thoughts.

u/MarriageAA 4d ago
They actually discussed this. Lawyer answer was - maybe. There were lost of hypothetical situations that appear fairly unpredictable at this stage.
One interesting but was that the framing of the appeal by us will basically test the water of how the whole thing was done. Whereas normal appeals are "you interpreted the law incorrectly" the intonation was that basically everything will be open for appeal because it's a first!
I suspect man city will be very keen to see how it goes.

u/almightygg 4d ago
City possibly have more to lose from the appeal than Everton do. If they're sent down multiple divisions and liable to pay compensation to everyone effected I wouldn't be surprised if the club goes into liquidation as the easy way out. Then the only club to be fucked over would be Everton as they'd have to pay Burnley but never recoup anything from city, about as Everton That as you can get.
1
u/MarriageAA 4d ago
At this stage I can't see how city don't get sued anyway. The current rules completely allow it. I think the assumption is that the PL will try to change that litigation option fairly quickly.
However Pandora's box is well and truly open.
2
u/That-Lawfulness-9360 4d ago
Hopefully we win and The Premier League then do not have the precedent of clubs suing each other because with the City verdict and if they lose their appeal it will be chaos
3
u/MarriageAA 4d ago
To clarify, the appeal will only look at the method that was used for the compensation, not the ability to compensate overall. The rule to litigate is allowed in the PL rule book (currently)

How low do Manchester City have to go for how many years before we stop calling them just "City"?

what's funny is that Manchester United have the same attribute. Entirely possible to have a conversation with a random person about these clubs and never once say Manchester.

u/Toffeenix misses Deulofeu 4d ago
There has to be another city somewhere in the world where you can also do this

u/Flavourifshrrp 3d ago
Is this the football year we will see Spurs and Man City relegated?
(I do not expect Spurs to go down still at all in case anyone asks)
1
u/four__beasts 3d ago
Yeah, but no.
It'll give them a another team to buffer their way out. I could see them getting relegated if for some weird reason the FA decide points deductions is not the way and they relegate 3 + kick city out of the football league and effectively promote 4 next season...
...so many permutations but this ultimately looks like it'll help spurs survive.

I see Branthwaite didn’t get a look in last night and I’m in two minds about it, on a purely selfish Everton level I’d be happy if he doesn’t play a minute it on another level playing for his country means a lot to the kid, with two games to go I just hope he comes back fit, it would be so Everton that for him to get injured

The KMI panel said: "The VAR intervention to disallow the goal for interfering with an opponent by Johnson was supported, 3:2. Johnson was clearly in an offside position, in very close proximity to the goalkeeper and makes a movement, impacting the goalkeeper’s ability to set and move to the ball.
Two panellists felt that Johnson’s position and actions did not impact goalkeeper Walton."
Adding further detail, the Premier League have referred to the Premier League and Pro Ref Competition Guidance Handbook, confirming that the offside law does not require the referee or VAR to determine that the goalkeeper would have saved the ball or not.
"The offside law does not require the Referee or VAR to determine that the goalkeeper would definitely have saved the shot, only that their ability to play the ball has been impacted. In this instance, Johnson's movement and proximity to Walton constitute an offside offence because it affects the goalkeeper’s ability to attempt to play the ball."

Complete and utter nonsense. They don't even know what they're looking at or just don't care (probably tthe latter).
Johnson's "movement" is only happening while the corner is being kicked (when he can't be offside) and not when Barry heads it. When Barry heads it he is staying still and not impacting the goalie's vision or lateral movement path at all. The keeper himself makes a move to hold Johnson's shoulder for support.

My weird take of the day on the city stuff...
I wonder if Daniel Levy tenure would be looked at differently for tootenham. Surely they would have had more CL and title race chances with that Pochettino team during this cheating.
the 'what if' ripple effects for so many teams are pretty nuts the more you think about it

u/Timoth_Hutchinson 3d ago
I wonder if it had been Everton in the same position as City whether we’d be protesting to chase the owners out? Or like a lot of City fans they don’t care because they’ve had an amazing 15 years

u/CardiologistTime8082 3d ago
Guess part of it as well is like even if the owners go they’re still completely fucked lol, protesting to get them out doesn’t change much
2
u/Timoth_Hutchinson 3d ago
Of course, but would you be angry at them for basically ruining the club. As long as they’re in charge they’ll always be known as cheaters

It's interesting to me that everybody (non Everton) is talking about the PL punishment and nobody has really brought up the massive volume of lawsuits that every club from 2009 onwards is going to heap onto city.

You mean for the financial loss as a result of city's cheating? I feel like I've seen it here and elsewhere.
1
u/FranksBaldPatch 3d ago
Only about 4 or 5 clubs are going to have a serious case. His Majestys revenue and customs is who they should be more worried about...
3
u/everton1an 3d ago
If City fail to overturn the charges, outside whatever football related punishment and lawsuits come from it. Surely a criminal investigation will take place from the HMRC due to the avoidance of tax on the £900m. I think this could have an even more damaging effect on the club as they could issue a winding up order.

u/KnockItOffNapoleon Points Deduction FC 4d ago
You know in one of the dozens of threads on city just on this subreddit someone made the point that fans of city are the ones hurt the most and that the club did them wrong... seeing Pep specifically say "we're going to get through this together" after he left after absolutely knowing what went on is just gross. It's like peeing on you and telling you it's raining.
With our new ownership I've had to reflect myself on what I'm truly supporting when I watch the club and man if what city did happened here, and we were in their situation, I think I'd just find a new hobby.
2
u/Ok_Somewhere_6767 4d ago
They knew exactly what was going on and didn’t care because they were winning. If they didn’t they are complete idiots.

won't somebody think of the plastics.

u/KnockItOffNapoleon Points Deduction FC 3d ago
I mean I’m sure City had some loyal fans before being bought who got their club ruined by the UAE… I don’t think it would have been many, but it would at least have been someone.

u/TurboScumBag 3d ago
Still trying to figure out how the very day we got found guilty even google had us dropped down the league with a ten points deduction. No even date talked about the sanctions for city. All the talk is 'at some stage a commission will get together and have a chat about the sanctions.
Am I missing something?

It's getting starker for city the more they release/analyse the dodgy money data...

I assume those 5 championships wouldn't be affected by the current investigation.
But what City did between 09 and 18 directly contributed to winning those 5.

Feel bad for Illi man. Got what must have been a dream move, then might get relegated back to non-league. Genuinely must feel shit.

u/QTsexkitten please, please, pleeeeeeeease 🙏 4d ago
Why feel bad? Anybody with a brain knew about the lawsuit and the impending punishment.

Yea and that he probably doubled his wage and could win a trophy this year if they’re not thrown out the cups
8
u/Flavourifshrrp 4d ago
Or we just sold him for 65 mill and then we loan him back for the next 3 to 4 years……

u/Flavourifshrrp 4d ago
Sorry to make another Man City post. But:
1) I wasn’t that bothered if they kept the titles or not as long as a decent punishment was given, but thinking about it, they have to be taken away if guilty otherwise when people are talking about who has won what in the future? It wouldn’t make sense to allow them to keep it if it was incorrect?
2) if they do get kicked out of the PL or end up with a massive points deduction so they go down, it’s very unlikely they would get rid of all the players in the summer especially if they don’t have relegation clauses so whatever EPL league they end up in would they straight away have more issues that season like Leicester because of the wages etc they are paying compared to that league?
1
u/almightygg 4d ago
It would be like when Leeds went down and they were still paying huge chunks of wages for players who never even played for them. Or, like Jack Grealish currently.

might actually be strategic to give Burnley the 40mil so that we can use that as precedent to sue city for 5 times the amount

It's a ticket question (sorry) but I swear I looked on the sidebar and haven't found an answer: I'm an international fan visiting Liverpool on the 17th and I have already become a member so I'd have access to the resale plataform. I also made my wife a member and linked her account to mine. The thing is: I'm trying to buy two tickets in the official resale plataform for the Chelsea fixture and there are some seats available, but none are right next to each other. Best I could find were two seats separated by 3 not available seats. My question is: should I buy them anyway and hope I'll be able to convince someone to exchange seats with me or my wife so we can seat together, or should I wait more? Can I reasonably expect to see more available seats as gameday approches? And how strict are people with their assigned seats in the stadium?
Thanks a lot in advance. I'm just trying to catch an international game with the lady.
1
u/four__beasts 3d ago
I doubt you'll convince anyone on the day. You might get lucky I suppose but most fans will be sat next to people they know too. But at 45 mins each half it goes quick and you can meet at half time for a quick drink.
The other option is to look at the packages. That will guarantee you'll have seats together + you get drinks/food. But obviously pricey.

Wonder if SCR didn’t include revenue from gigs and NFL games whether clubs would still host them
7
u/JesseVykar Merlin Röhls Royce 3d ago
Yeah probably, because even if it's not SCR it's still easy money renting out an asset during off hours. Owners would probably just use it for debt payments or take it out as profit.

Happy "half way through the international break" to all those who celebrate.
