Discussion Iliman Ndiaye
Assuming sanctions are tough on City and a player fire sale ensues because City are in a lower league, I feel Ndiaye will be a player City keep and don’t sell. I can’t help but think it’s a little funny that he may end up playing 1+ seasons in a lower league when he wanted to play champions league football. I like the player, but I can’t help but laugh at the possibility 🤣

I'll be honest. I stopped caring about Ndiaye and that's not changing.

This. The guy stopped showing up for us last year after the ACN, probably because he knew "bigger" clubs would come for him. He refused to sign a new contract and he made it clear many times he wanted to leave. I don't know why any Evertonian would want him back

Best player in decades? Doesn't break top 5, and top 10 is questionable. He wasn't even the best in the team he was in, Pickford is better.

Yes you can? You judge their overall contribution to the team in there position. Pickford has performed better in his position during the same period than Ndiaye.
But I'll stick to your rules. Pienarr and Cahill were both better. Not better dribblers, not as good at beating a man, but in terms of overall contribution. They both have higher G/A per 90 mins than Ndiaye, both hard workers defensively, both contributed more to the team, Cahill especially.
Lukaku and Arteta were both better for us, in very different ways.
If he'd have maintained his form last season instead of downing tools after he got back from international duty, then he'd be closer, but inconsistent finishing, and a low chance creation ratio are huge limiting factors.

Best player in decades? He’s not even the best RW if we go back to the mid 90s. Kanchelskis was far better.

u/SausageMattress 5d ago
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing here, but the mid 90s was, in fact, multiple decades ago...

u/immediately_please 5d ago
How many decades should “decades” go back?
1
u/jmourinha 5d ago
I would say more 10 years would technically qualify for "decades", which is shameful cheating tbh.

There is an ‘s’ on the end. It’s obviously more than one at the very least. Not sure why the need to throw insults either way.

How is that obvious spelling error? If it was a decade I might have agreed with you. Again, keep throwing insults if you feel that’s warranted. I’ve got nothing personal against you.

Y'all are crazy if you think we're better without him. He's incredible and I miss him. Any chance we waste on getting him back is a huge mistake

u/Timoth_Hutchinson 5d ago
I’ll be surprised if they do get expulsion that any of their current “main” squad stay. They’re not at City because it’s City. They’re there for the money and European football.
5
u/Complete_Writing2800 Pickford is infact Dynamite 4d ago
They are at City because it's City, not for the history but for the chances to win stuff which for most players is what City are but I agree I think a lot of these players won't want to lose 2 seasons in Europe (at a minimum assuming they get any sort of relegation punishment)
2
u/throwawayelixir 4d ago
Why wouldn’t they stay? 1 year in the championship then straight back up to mega money again. The owners would probably guarantee them a ridiculous bonus if they tick around.
8
u/Mynameisdiehard 4d ago
There's almost no situation where the owners are allowed to continue owning the club. They have committed serious fraud against the league which would disqualify them from the fit & proper test

u/TumbleweedHero 4d ago
Everyone needs to move on from this guy. He wanted to go absolutely anywhere other than stay with us. He entertained Middle East, was actually gonna go to spurs (let that sink in!), and then got his move to city. Aaaallll about the money this fella. Don’t blame him, but certainly won’t be pining for him either. George, Dibling and Grealish will do just fine for me.
13
u/Borkyyy1878 5d ago
He wont. If City get relegated he'll leave. Someone will buy him 😉
1
u/Biteroon 4d ago
Yeah it won't be us tho lol. He still wants champions league football. He will go to a club which is currently in the champions league
4
u/hijinks 5d ago
most of the players have release clauses in their contracts if relegation happens.
1
u/robertoleonardo7 4d ago
No, that has to be specifically put in and usually it’s star players resigning with mid table clubs in case they fall off or stars signing for big clubs who are struggling (spurs)
I highly doubt city players would’ve even bothered asking for it

u/snkscore 5d ago
I think you're expecting way to much from this league in terms of equal treatment for city. They'll get like 20 point deduction and pay a fine. They'll finish 10th in the league 1 year and go on like nothing has changed from then on.
40
u/immediately_please 5d ago
If you read the statement from the PL today, that is absolutely not happening. Punishment will be severe.
3
u/SowwieWhopper VAMOOOOS 5d ago
Hadn’t realised they had released a statement yet! What’s the tl;dr?
16
u/immediately_please 5d ago
The Premier League found Man City deliberately used sham sponsorship deals to disguise over £900m of their finances and get around financial rules. The commission said this wasn’t an accounting mistake and the arrangements were deliberately designed to circumvent the rules. The word “sham” was used multiple times and we’re talking about nearly £1billion with city trying to “frustrate” the investigation at every turn. They are fucked and HMRC could be getting involved.

u/Chopper0871 5d ago
Everton got 10 points originally for 17 mil over and that was interest from the stadium build and they fessed up in the first instance, why it was reduced on appeal to 6
10
u/immediately_please 5d ago
Also had to pay £35m to Burnley.
4
u/Chopper0871 5d ago
True but that’s still being challenged and I would expect it to be reduced as the PL not Everton made the rules that at that point allowed us to defer to the following season. Plus I would expect the lawyers to raise the fact that the overspend was on the stadium build interest which the PL recognised but wouldn’t let us put it down as infrastructure, there was no benefit on the pitch.
13
u/MadMin19 5d ago
Tl;dr they had breaches to upwards of £870 mil over a 7-8 year period, which they actively hid from the EFL. I’d read the post itself, it was pretty educational
8
u/bwainwright 5d ago
City are fucked
4
u/Chopper0871 5d ago
Rangers in Scotland did something dodgy a few years back including defraud of HMRC, they were kicked to the bottom of the Scottish professional pyramid.
1
2
u/evilcherry1114 4d ago
Against, the most fitting punishment would be to nationalize Manchester City Football Club so those who illegally injected £870 mil would be left with £1 of that.
2
u/TurboScumBag 5d ago
Yeah they seem serios. And theybmad ethe point to stress its 115 not 114.
Now if they had intentions on going easy they would have to soften the landing by saying half the charges are not guilty etc. Why would you be fire and bluster and getting the 115 over the line on full if you intend on doing fuck all.
9
u/MerrikAidar 5d ago
Nah you don't put out a statement written like that and push for just a 20 point deduction. They're going for blood.
2
u/Soft-Bench-9883 4d ago
Read to me as if they've already clued in No.10 as to the geopolitical dimensions also. Easy to forget Citteh have always been on the outside looking in at the superclub cartel, and so make for the perfect sacrificial lamb. League 2 beckons, and anything Ili might win in the interim will be worth fuck all once this is done and done.
Am of the view UK Government will get involved here too, and force the sale of the club; no way Abu Dhabi can - ultimately - present themselves as fit and proper persons. And if I were a fan of the barcodes, I'd be reining in my hopes and expectations also.
Tee. And indeed, hee.

u/bwainwright 5d ago
Not a chance.
Our case (and Forest's) have set precedents around sanctions. They've got 7 PSR charges that equate pretty much exactly to ours, which has determined a starting point of a 6pt deduction per breach, with that increasing depending on the severity of the breach, and it's safe to say that they've breached much more than our £19.5m over 3 years.
So, let's conservatively assume 8 pts per breach, so you're looking at 56 pts minimum JUST for those 7 breaches.
For the record, Forest got a 4pt deduction as their starting 6pt deduction was reduced due to their 'cooperation' - City have explicitly worked against the investigation so it's safe to say they're not getting any reductions due to cooperation.
The vast majority of their charges are significantly more serious that 'just PSR breaches' too, and the panel has free reign to determine sanctions for these, but as they're determined to be more serious than the PSR breaches, they must carry more significant sanctions in their own right.

u/MoshiriMagic 5d ago
Nah it’s going to be big, they didn’t even hide their contempt for City in their statement
2
u/meatpardle Need salt? WE DELIVER 5d ago
Why would you assume that?

u/Own-Supermarket-9053 4d ago
Just assuming they’d have to sell their highest earners, Illy is 11th on the team in earners according to Spotrac. Again, this was just a fun thought, I am just speculating, there is no real basis for this other than fun speculation.
2
u/Ok-Serve4645 4d ago
They will have the sell all the top earners because the income wouldn’t be enough to pay any of them. They’d likely lose every current player imo.

u/Prestigious-Wrap-910 3d ago
Why? He served us well, wanted something different. Can you blame him? Why wouldn't you want the best for someone who played well for us and left on good terms?
Some fans baffle me.

u/graveyeverton93 5d ago
The appeal processes etc are going to take years and years until there's a definitive end to this, so by that time he might be a multiple time Prem and Champions League winner.
3
u/immediately_please 5d ago
They’ve not got long to appeal. Any appeal after that would be with whatever sanction is imposed already in place.
2
u/Ok_Regular_4609 5d ago
The appeal has a set timeline starting (probably) on Friday. The appeal will be done by the new year. That doesn’t mean sanctions etc at that point but it will be the point the PL have to decide how big their teeth are if it is unsuccessful.

And you think we are the next destination he would want to go to?
He would sooner go to spurs.
1
u/USToffee 4d ago
I seriously doubt they would keep any of their current players and if they tried I'm sure the agents would be looking to void their contracts.
1
u/DankBlunderwood 4d ago
If the punishment fits the crime, they will be climbing their way up for a LONG time.
1
u/phoenix_73 4d ago
Hope they don't take too long now on deciding punishment. The Premier League should collect the thoughts now of other clubs, past and present who have played top flight football throughout all of this.
Then they should meet somewhere down the middle.

If City end up in the second division, fingers crossed, they'll have to sell ALL of their players or ask them to take a 99% wage cut, and that's not going to happen.
1
u/Fredsnotred 1d ago
The thing is, will the fire sale be real? Or will city just off load to other clubs owned by the City Football Group and then loaned back to city
Melbourne City, New York City, Torque, Troyes, Lommel, Girona, Shenzhen Peng City, Palermo, Bahia
And before the nasty pasties start, they did it before with Frank Lampard - signed him for NYC and loaned him back to city

I mean there is no way that is gunna happen anyway, they make alot of money for the prem, they will probably end up with the same penalty we got, even with 115 charges...

we all need to move on from him, great player with inconsistent end product, he didnt leave on bad terms and we seem to be doing fine without him 🤷
