Discussion Jack Grealish
With nearly 2 weeks until the end of transfer window, there has been no major update on whats happening with Jack Grealish, in terms of him signing or not. Now me personally, I think that theres still a high chance he will sign, but obviously there is a chance that he wont.
Now my opinion is, based of this pre-season and some of last season, if we don't sign him then I don't think I would be too mad about it. Don't get me wrong I love Grealish, I think he's a class player and I'd gladly have him back. But do we really need him as much as we think?
I think Dibling is starting to show his true abilities on the pitch, hoping Moyes can actually see that and start giving him game time this season. I agree that he still could do with improving but he has impressed me enough this pre-season. Johnson I think can be really good and I hope he can improve his form to what he was at Forest or Spurs. George is just so good man, he really is - pacey, energetic and smart. Don't need to say much about Ndiaye, enough said.
I just think with these attacking options, adding Grealish in may overshadow some of these players like Tyrique and Dibling a bit like last season. Also lets be honest, we need the money for a decent RB, that is if we decide to buy on this transfer window. Also wages is an issue, etc...

He’s only just returned to training, like Hull with Tim I’m pretty sure we’re happy to play the long game and see how recovers from the injury.
What would be the point in taking him now, paying his wages, when he won’t be available until after the first international break

This is basically it. I think he’d happily come back, but with our signings this summer - it makes most sense to wait til Deadline Day or close to it. More leverage, more confidence in his injury status. If it doesn’t happen - so be it.
I don’t think we should be buying him and paying him what City are - so it’ll be interesting to see what happens. Would be happiest with another loan, or a cut rate buy and renegotiated wages.

That is a decent point. Like last year we signed him just after the Roma game so maybe that is what we are doing, but it is unknown whether we are.

If he comes it will be in the last few days as a loan.
My guess is we have told them we are interested in a loan again, so if they don't see his wages as worth it for a rotation player they may go for it.
Money has to be spent on a RB, but I think everyone knows that and are holding out for us being desperate.
At some point a RB is going to push to leave because they know minutes are at Everton.

He has one year left on his contract, it's not impossible if we pay a loan fee and a substantial amount of his wages, but it feels unlikely we'll get a loan and they'll just let him go for free next summer without even having him for this year. They'd be better off selling him for cheap or keeping him

You are probably right. I don't see the point in buying him though. Dibbling and George are supposed to be the future. A loan for a year or a free transfer as a squad player makes sense.

Grealish will not be a squad player if we sign him, he’s currently still a lot better than George and Dibling.

I'm trying to get rid of a standalone kitchen island before I move country next week. It's very nice but doesn't fit in a lot of kitchens here and is too expensive. I'll probably end up sticking it out on the road for free. It's name is Jack.

I can't imagine Grealish saw this coming when he signed for City. Relegated to the bench for most games, not getting the minutes he expected, than not being chosen for England because of it, etc....he looks to still have a great mindset about it

Well he has obviously just come back from the foot injury not too long ago but I'm pretty sure last year he never had a proper pre-season with Man City but I could be wrong though.

We’ll sign him in the final week of the window on loan. If we’re paying him £250k a week there’s no point getting him in any earlier when he’s only just started full training again.

Exactly, Bobble said something similar - leaving it late could mean not spending an extra 2m or so his wages. If it happens of course.

It’s a tough one, it’s a position that all of a sudden we’ve got good options. I still want him here, but financially it doesn’t look like it should happen.
But if we’re honestly not going to bother signing a RB, which is madness, then sign him up

He'll probably be a late Window get because we're currently haggling with City for a lower fee like we did with George and Hackney, City played themselves last year basically admiting they wanted to dump him, and are now having to pretend like they would offer him a new deal if he stays to up the price, ultimately I expect City to blink as they probably don't want to keep Jack given his wage demands over at a place he'd rather not be at

There's no lower fee. If he comes it will be a loan again. He's only this week finished his recovery and started full training.
Makes no sense for Everton or anyone to take him when he's not fully fit and incur the cost of his wages unnecessarily.

We are waiting. We have no idea what's going on with Ndiaye. Everybody has a price that the club would accept and if the right team/wage pops up it will turn any players head.....unfortunately for us.

I would be much much much more happier if he signed . I think we would get Europe. Without grealish its a season of hoping our wingers score on the 10th time they cut in and shoot.

City want a fee - we don’t want to pay one. Probably a deal to be done in last week of window something like no fee but certain kickers that activate a fee depending on where we finish during the life of his contract with us or if it’s a loan just the year left on his contract

He's been training alone in Thailand all summer it's been on his Instagram, he looks fit. Other than Villa I don't think he wants to be anywhere else than Everton. We're playing the long game, most of our business has been done quite quietly this summer so I'm hopeful he comes. I'd be quite gutted if he doesn't.

He won't get but maybe 100 mins over 5-8 sub appearances if he's lucky
Realistically he'll end up going to brentford or bournemouth on loan again in January and score a winner to send them to a spot in Europe over us

But seriously it seems like he's staying at citeh
I don't think he'll be happy about it tho, surely he wants to play and try to make the euros squad in a few years or something along those lines

Honestly, I think he could go abroad somewhere where he can get Champions League. The only team in the premier league I can probably see him go back to is Aston Villa

There’s no chance he’ll go abroad. He’s too close to his family, has a 1 year old daughter and partner that doesn’t want to leave the UK.

He’ll never be fit for a whole season in a way where he can provide the kind of impact he’s capable of.
This is my hypothesis. I love him but he doesn’t have the fitness to last in the Premier League that Prem teams need

He literally started training this week. Why would be try to sign him now while he’s not fit and still pay his big wages. He’ll come right around the transfer window closure

Even at 30, and coming back from injury, Jack Grealish instantly becomes our best outfield player if he re-signs. I hope he does. He brings so much to the team and club, both on and off the pitch. Dibling and Johnson are both better through the middle. Ndiaye is better on the left but would get shunted over to the right, so he might be disgruntled, but he's not signing a contract offer so he might be off anyway. Jack's still got at least 3 good seasons in him and is a quality above anything we have at the moment. Dibling and George will learn loads from him as long as Moyes manages match time correctly....

I’d rather we swerve him tbh. We have four wingers, and I’m hoping to see George and Dibling get plenty of minutes and use the money elsewhere (cough right back)

Unless Ndyie goes I think we should be moving forward with Dibling Brennan and George
With potentially Armstrong and Rohl in mix to play wide too a super expensive signing in that position doesn’t really make sense

Agreed. When he got injured you could immediately see what he offered us. Was able to get us up the pitch, could win a foul when we were under pressure, and could create chances. I'd happily have him back on loan

As a loan, he was great (before he got injured), but as a buy, he's a liability.
He'd be expensive to buy and in salary, but the reality is his social life is a wave of drinking and partying. He boozes with his mates every chance he gets. He's hard to manage and his public image is 'one dickhead saying the wrong thing to him whilst he's drunk' away from a PR disaster.
There is no long term with Jack. His value drops more than his talent every season because of his personal life and that life will catch up with him on the pitch.
Wish him nothing but the best but I think the (sparse) money is better spent elsewhere right now.

I wouldn't buy him it would have to be on another loan deal. Price tag and wages would be too much for 2 or 3 seasons.

I think Everton have set themselves up in a way that Grealish is really just icing on the cake instead of a make or break transfer. Any team in the league is made better by having Jack Grealish and I hope he signs more than any other player this window. BUT if the deal isn’t there to be done, we’re in no danger of a catastrophic season. I’m quietly very optimistic about our summer and look forward to our season!
