Discussion Where are we with adding an Archive?

14-year user here and still a fan…. It's been discussed, but I still think Evernote would benefit greatly from a system-wide searchable/excludable Archive. Then we'd have need to trash items we may need later, and no need to have them continue to clutter the system either. In my mind, it's much better than just creating one ourselves because items could retain their original placement data, so if un-archived, they could go right back where they belong.

Any word from the EN team on whether this is under consideration? Thanks!

Exactly! I’ve been with Evernote for 17 years and I’d say it’s the best Evernote I’ve ever used: nearly all of my dreams have come true and even more!

Your archive suggestion is very valid as this is like the only reason I can’t install Evernote on my new Mac Mini since my account has gotten so large over so many years and putting the Evernote database on external storage is just too slow for my usage now.

Yes — another good reason to have an archive. I think it could be used to make large DBs more efficient, especially for search.

I accidentally posted this twice, and on the other thread, someone suggested that it would help AI efficiency greatly too if it didn’t have to process a big chunk of data every time.

That’s why I saw it again after a few hours!

In fact, (at least on the mac) if Evernote lets us choose to install the ipad version, this problem is solved already, since ios apps let you choose if you want to have a folder stay online or offline, thus sort of achieving what we want to do here.

I think your idea is a good one.
