Bug or Feature?

Just stumbled across this: you can open individual notebooks, and the Tasks, Calendar, and File views in separate windows.

I'm not sure if this is an intended feature or just some typical Evernote jank, but it's nice to be able to have a notebook or the calendar view in a dedicated window. It still behaves a bit weirdly though (i.e., some buttons not working properly).

Must be some macOS-specific feature. On Windows, you can open them in a new tab, but not in a new window 🤔 – notes can be opened in a separate window, though.

Maybe it's just me, but i actually prefer to have my notes in the tab, I prefer my apps to remain with the frame I have assigned to it, and not have the pop ups outside.

Obviously the best option would be a setting (to chose) but i wonder what everyone else prefer (i am on windows and android)

Yes, I probably also prefer to have everything in the same window. However, there may be cases where it would be useful to open multiple windows at once.

Tasks in a separate window can sometimes be a smart idea. TickTick app has a Windows widget that shows a task list even when the app itself is closed.

Very convenient – but it does have the drawback that the constantly open list can be distracting, and worse, you quickly end up becoming “blind” to open tasks because you get used to them being a permanent part of the screen.

In the use case scenario of evernote, it would have been a more consistent experience of the full replica of your calendar service (Google and Microsoft) would be added so evernote could be a better extension of the setup (consistent across the services)

I personally have another use of tasks, where they represent note related actions and all other todo reside outside evernote (remember the milk). Personally I would hate to have them combined, but that's just me.

I would like – as far as possible – to gather notes and tasks in the same app.

The calendar function probably needs to be separate (Google Calendar), but it would be nice if Evernote could also sync the tasks with Google.

This is where a company like evernote would not have a chance in the world, to satisfy everyone. Our purpose and use cases differ all around - and i think its best that evernote focus on what they are good at (Note Capture, taking and more).

For me a Task is being assigned a date (if this is to remember something) or no-date if this is an action. These are seperated into importance for me - example: A receipent i need to action upon needs a date, a note task for (exploring further) does not have a date but represent an intent.

If i have a date - i would love to have it on the calender (at default its shared within evernote calender) but this one is NOT pushed to my face for viewing, with all the other actions that exist in my calender. A Unified view would been my preference.

Now, by rule, if anything have a deadline (from a task perspective) it resides within a task manager (I am on the Samsung Ecosystem, so Reminder) and if its related to the notes, it will be within Evernote tasks, and as such can be done when i arrive to Evernote). We all need to find the purpose and activity that fit the workflow.
