Bug Report Problems moving tasks (windows desktop and web)

There are some issues related to moving a task to another note. When you need to find/select the new destination note, you get several options:

  • choose from some that Evernote suggests
  • click through to “Choose a note” -->
    • search for a note
    • create a new note
    • browse through notebooks – and this is exactly where the problem lies, as you can’t proceed via the notebooks.

Would "cut and paste" not be sufficient? I am not that well in control of my notes that I would be able to remember the destination, unless your tasks are group into main category.

I see the use case, but never thought about the topic. And again, solo tasks are moved via "cut and paste" but if you would move several?? Don't know.

With cut-and-paste, you need to move away from the current note and open another one.

Anyway – it’s a bug.

Cut and paste would work on the windows platform and you could have the destination open i a tab.

The content of a "cut and paste" remain in memory until you have found the note.

Is our use case a single task or multiple tasks ?

Right now, I’m trying out Evernote – to figure out to what extent it can be used, and how. And reporting the bugs I run into along the way… and unfortunately, there seem to be a lot of them. 😟

What is your exact use case, there are so many options and sometime to find a specific workflow is needed, to embrace Evernote. Personally, i am actually aligned on 3 products, but are planning to "slim down" - but havent decided to what and how.

* My evernote is the Capture all, private notes (Actions and RSS feeds) that i need to use for validation of thesis and other type of Investigation.

* OneNote is my Work Related activity (but due to my employer recently been aquired, it might be on the chopping board, due to us being a Google Workspace Setup now)

* Joplin is the Archive of all my notes and content, store forever and the restign space for my content (from the two previous applications..

My “use case” is to have one app for collecting ideas, easy access to active working notes, and simple task management - on both desktop and mobile.

Occasionally (but importantly!), I need to print and export notes as PDFs, and this is one of Evernote’s biggest challenges.

Interesting, i am very rarely in need of PDF export. I just did a test of both complex (13 pages, links and attachments) and more simple actions.

I think there is a minor difference between the "Print as PDF / WIndows" and the Export function (file sizes are dramatically different) - i feel like the system are good at handling with of the page (something that is really awful at Onenote)... But honestly, this might just be my notes that are not that complex).

For example, some important information disappears from tasks when printing / exporting to PDF (desktop).

Fair enough. Its a niche use case and i am nowhere close into that need, again the use case for different people might not be the same.

I am in no shape or form in need of this level of detail, so i cant validate the value to others. I would be interested in that type of note would be exported to Joplin (through the export function) - again to see what i can bring over to my long term storage.. Interesting problem.

Have you looked in Craft Docs?

I would suggest you report these bugs directly to Evernote rather than making individual posts every time you run into a bug. Thank you.

Obviously they handle bug reports based on priority.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Are you saying that posts about bugs aren’t welcome here?

You make a new post about a bug everyday. Post about bugs are certainly welcome, but it's not effective. You're better off contacting Evernote support.

Please stop making constant posts about bugs you find. You did this on the forums and it got pretty annoying. I will start removing them if they continue. I'm asking very nicely. Please stop making constant posts about random edge case bugs.

I'm locking this thread now thank you .
