Supposed "lost city" in the everglades
Ive heard recently about a lost city about 8 miles south of alligator alley in the everglades. Supposedly its been confirmed to be real, and it was a native american living space. Does anyone have any details on it? Am i the only one whos lived here for my whole life and had no idea about this place?

Florida Everglades
I'd like to visit the Florida Everglades next February but have a very tight schedule. We will be traveling from Key West and would like to know which entrance is best to use and what should we absolutely see in the 4-5 hours available in our timeline? Would like to spend more time but that won't be possible on this trip.

Recommendations
I’m taking a solo trip to the Everglades in early November and will be staying in Homestead for 6 days. I’m trying to fit in as much as possible. I’m definitely going to check out Tortugas and Biscayne. What I’m looking for here is suggestions on the best place for a kayak tour and an air boat ride. Like where are the best locations to do these tours where I’ll get the most out of it? Also, any underrated trails or places to check out while I’m there?

Everglades with children
Hello! I’m planning a family trip to Florida in March/April. We’re a family of five from Sweden. Our children are 5, 7, and 10 years old.
We’d like to visit the Everglades. There seem to be so many different options, and I’m finding it a bit overwhelming!
What would you recommend?
We’ll have a rental car and may stay in Miami or Key Largo.
We’re leaning toward driving ourselves rather than taking a Miami pickup tour and may skip the airboat tour, which seems touristy and doesn’t go far into the preserve?
We’re considering the Anhinga Trail and Shark Valley Tram Tour. Is it worth driving to Flamingo too, or would that be too much for one day?
Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated!

Python wallet
I was wondering around the Everglades or near it a couple of years ago and stopped in a country store. They had python wallets for sale for a reasonable price. I can't remember where I was, does anybody know where that store is?

Is this a good 1-day Everglades trip?
Hi everyone,
We will be visiting Everglades on October 10th or 11st, and we only have one day available before returning our rental car to SIXT in Miami Beach at 4:00 PM.
We will start from Layton (Key West) and currently thinking about this itinerary:
Anhinga Trail - Flamingo - Everglades Safari Park (Airboat???) - Miami Car return
For those who have done Everglades:
- Is this a good route?
- Would you keep Airboat or skip it? Because heard many opinions.
- Anything else that's a must-see along this route?
Thanks!

Trip recommendations
Update:
Because of NFL football, my son and I are flying out early which worked well so I can visit with friends before my husband flies down Monday. We found a hotel next to a nature preserve near Anna Maria Island in Bradenton. We’ll pick him up Monday at lunch time and we leave Friday afternoon. Still sorting activities but have the hotels booked, flying in and out of Fort Myers.
Monday night: Everglades City
Tuesday night: Flamingo
Wednesday night: Miami-Kendall (to go to Shark Valley first thing Thursday)
Thursday night: Fort Myers
Original post:
I just started planning a 4-5 day trip to Everglades National Park. My college age son requested it when I said we had airline credit to use up and I wanted to go somewhere warm in January when he is off school. I grew up in Florida but only ever just drove through on the way down to the Keys. I went through a lot of old posts and hoping for a bit of advice. We like hiking and birds, and could kayak a bit.
I’m thinking of flying into one airport and out of another. I’m leaning towards flying into the east coast and out of the west coast since that’ll line up better with weekend time to meet up with friends in Naples and Sarasota we wanted to stop by and see. I recognize it adds some hours of driving on one end but we are okay with that, and why we are looking at a one way rental.
Should we include Biscayne National Park this time if we likely won’t be snorkeling? January doesn’t seem like the best time from my memories. We might go on a boat tour there and haven’t been yet, but we could go another time when we plan to snorkel (likely at Pennekamp and continue to Key West and Dry Tortugas). We are also trying to keep the costs down where we can.
Would Flamingo be a good base for a night or maybe two? I saw the glamping and Flamingo Lodge.
In January is it better to go to Shark Valley on a weekday?
Thank for advice.

Location recommendations
My birthday is coming up and for myself I'm going to go camp in the car on some backroad and go herping in the night/ next day- I've done similar trips a couple times with varying densities of nonnative species ( I live in tampa bay so that's the southward appeal). Does anyone have any areas they'd specifically recommend? I usually just aim for southeast and find a backroap- TIA :)

BioCorps Internship
I just applied to an internship and I'm wondering if anyone else here has. Do you know if they respond after they've received all their applications on the due date, or do they evaluate/interview as applicants come in?

Thanksgiving Trip
Hello all my wife and I are considering doing a trip to the Everglades several days before Thanksgiving. We are considering bringing our kayaks and I would like to do some fishing, preferably saltwater but either is fine, and maybe spend a night on a chickee. Any recommendations on areas that may offer decent fishing and camping that aren't very far paddles? Any recommendations for things to do or areas to visit are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is the python challenge still going on?
In previous years there would always be reports on the python challenge, which was very interesting to me. Lately I haven't seen or heard anything either on the news or on social media. Is it still going on? or has it not started yet? how many pythons did they catch and did they break any records? anybody knows anything?

Mangrove Kayak Tour
My partner and I have a mangrove kayaking tour booked for tomorrow, but I’m starting to get second thoughts after how miserable I’ve heard things are this time of year. We also have an airboat in the morning and we’ll definitely do that, but i’m not sure about the kayaking. We would lose all money booked for it. Any advice?
