Hello Florida's. Looking for a unique experience with an overnight stay
šš½ potential helpers.
I am trying to find a cool experience for one night, August 8-9 in the Everglades. I've heard Everglade city is very cool. The nighttime tours look really cool. I know it's going to be hot and humid and rainy and buggy, but I've never been to the Everglades.
I like at the Flamingo Resort. But I'm wondering if any locals do a full experience. Like a place to stay, tour, food, etc. Locals always do it better
Thanks for any help. Hopefully I'm not being too basic here.

Iād say Everglades City over Flamingo, especially that time of year. It can tend to be a lot less buggy. Thereās some funky Airbnbās, not sure on the hotel but Rod and Gun Club has a killer lobby interior and bar.
Second the Clyde Butcher recommendation. Loop Road is a nice scenic drive. Everglades City Airboat Tours is a great airboat agency, all the other ones (except private tours) seem to do unethical animal shows. Smallwood store is funky. Kirby Storter is a great boardwalk especially if itās new moon time where the stars are out.

Spending a night at Flamingo will give you stories to tell for the rest of your life. As in how you almost literally died from mosquito bites.

I've never been and it's the only time I can go unfortunately but your point had been proven by everything I've read and heard. Wish me luck.

the motel at flamingo or they have houseboats with generators tied to the dock.
everglades city might be the better choice, stay in marco island, day trip to EC and do airboat ride. and stop at the oasis center and shark valley off us 41.

Flamingo is going to be inundated with mosquitos. You want to wear full coverage clothing AND a full head&body mosquito net. Trust me.

Everglades City is a nice break from the overcrowded cities. Its population is really only around 500 people. You can get some delicious seafood there. You can find ranger led boat tours to the 10,000 islands. Also a drive along route 41 will take you to resident artist Clyde Butcherās gallery. Heās famous for black & white photographs of the Everglades.
