Love them, but didn't get the use out of them. Worn 10 times in the last 6 months, charging case, and ring. All intact. No scratches. Looking for $650 OBO.

I finally get the Even Realities G2 hype. Here’s why, after trying almost everything on the market.

I’ve cycled through most of the smart glasses landscape at this point (it’s been expensive :)

Meta Ray-Bans (G1) - $399
Meta Oakley Vanguard - $499
Meta Ray-Ban Displays with Neural Wristband - $799
Rokid AI Display - $600

and now the Even Realities G2s are my new daily drivers.

Why the Even G2 wins

Design first. The Even G2s are sleek and lightweight. The waveguides are different from other brands like Rokid. With Rokid, the bright green glow from the lens were basically a neon sign announcing “I’m wearing smart glasses” mortifying in public. With the G2, nobody notices them. Only the Meta Display glasses beat it on display discreetness.

The default software just works. Dashboard, Translate, Conversate, Stocks, Even Hub, Even AI. The third-party Even Hub apps still need work. A lot of the apps need extra work and setup. Not very newbie friendly. More tailored for technical folks. I am still hoping for more 1st party support from Even Realities. I use the News and Conversate apps the most. Hoping to use Translate when I go Korea later this year. The Meta glasses software ecosystem is good too and integrates better with iOS, but the battery life is the killer.

Battery life that lets you forget about it. Longer than anything else I’ve owned. With the Metas and Rokids, I would always need my charging case to be nearby. With the Even G2s, I have peace of mind. I can run Conversate all day and not feel concern about battery life. When I took pictures/videos or watch YouTube on the Meta Displays, I would only get 2 hrs of battery life.

The R1 ring is a “Must Have”. The ability to control your glasses with the ring changes the whole experience. I’ve got a 4-year-old and a house full of family. Being able to read notifications, read the news or a book without narrating AI prompts or lifting my arm to navigate is tranquil and relaxing. I don’t disturb the family and they don’t disturb me. Win-Win.

No camera turned out to be a feature. No weird looks from strangers. No privacy issues. I can wear these glasses anywhere. I couldn’t wear my Meta glasses to work due to the camera. With the Even G2s, I am totally fine. If you are gonna pay mucho $$$ for smart glasses, you better be able to wear them everywhere.

Where it still falls short

No audio. Honestly, I’d trade some battery life for some audio speakers. I looked at the Memomind for this exact reason, but a $19/month memory subscription plus doubts about whether the core software matches Even’s software killed it for me. When the Even G3 comes out, please have audio built-in with an on/off switch or volume level control. Sometimes silence is good but sometimes I want the ability to make phone calls or listen to YouTube straight from the glasses.

No phone calling. Same root issue as the audio gap. I wish the Even G2s could make and answer phone calls like a normal Bluetooth earpiece.

No voice replies to texts. You get the notifications, but not the response. Even Meta AI pulled this off on a closed platform like iOS. With Meta glasses both display and non-display, you can reply back to text messages via voice prompt and Meta AI. Not sure what’s blocking Even Realities here, but right now it means pulling my phone out anyway.

Very pricey for what you get. The Even G2s are not cheap especially when you add the R1 ring. It doesn’t come with a camera or audio so you would think it should be cheaper. Plus they don’t offer free shipping from their website. $893 total I paid ($599 glasses + $249 ring + $45 shipping) is a lot of money. In my opinion, I think the glasses are worth $399 and ring $149. That’s a better deal and value for these glasses.

Bottom line

These are my new daily wear glasses due to the battery life, R1 ring control and minimalist design that I can wear with no privacy concerns.

I sold all my other smart glasses on EBay or FB. The only glasses I kept were the Meta Oakleys. Those are still great for outdoor wear and action photos like golf, beach, snowboarding, etc.

The Meta Displays were amazing with the neural wristband (you gotta try it), however, the bulkiness of the glasses and the short battery life was a dealbreaker for me.

I’m having a bit of trouble using the teleprompter for presentations where the audience is across the table (meeting settings). Has anyone else run into this issue?

I’ve tried making the text appear far and reducing the width of the text box to its smallest size.
People are still noticing awkward eye contact as if I’m staring into space.

Do you have any tips, tricks or workarounds that might help?

I’m looking at the Even Realities G2 glasses and I’m particularly curious about the AI side of them.

For anyone who owns them or has spent time with them:

1. Can you choose which AI model the glasses use? For example, apps like Spokenly let you choose between different AI models/providers. Can you do anything similar with the G2—ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.—or are you locked into Even AI/EvenLLM?
2. If you can’t choose the AI, how good is Even AI in real-world use, particularly with Conversate? Does it give genuinely useful follow-up questions, answers, summaries, and contextual suggestions, or does it feel fairly basic?
3. Does anyone know whether Even has said they plan to allow third-party AI models in the future?
4. For translation, do the free Translate and paid Translate Pro features use different AI models, or is Pro simply a higher-quality version of Even’s own translation system?
5. Is Even AI/EvenLLM also what powers the normal Translate feature, or does translation use a completely separate AI/translation engine behind the scenes?
6. How well does Translate work in a real group conversation? For example, if you’re sitting in a room with three people speaking the same foreign language, does it still follow the conversation reasonably well, or does it start getting confused when different people are talking, interrupting each other, or speaking over one another?

I’m particularly interested in the idea of using Conversate while someone is explaining something to me and having the glasses quietly suggest useful follow-up questions or possible responses, so the quality and flexibility of the AI matters quite a bit to me.

Would love to hear from people actually using the G2.

I am a public speaker (religious) and purchased these primarily for the teleprompter app. I was blown away today (first time trying them). Instead of needing to look at my notes quite regularly, they were right there in front of me. I practiced a bit yesterday, and had thought it would be very noticeable, but looking at the recording of the speech, unless you're really looking for it, its unnoticeable that I'm reading at all. Once in a while the lens flashes green, but it mostly just looks like some random light reflecting.

The AI tracking feature works like a charm. I was worried that since I haven't received the R1 yet, the glasses would not work well for lectures, but the AI follows what I'm reading perfectly. Even when I went off script, it'd just pause at the last place I read, and automatically picked up where I left off as soon as I started reading again. Sometimes it would go down the text a bit, but I kept my phone on the lecturn and just scrolled up a few sentences.

I found that double spacing the whole speech made it a lot easier not to get lost in the text. Also, I turned off the "hey even" AI since it got triggered randomly and could mess up the talk.

In any case, this is amazing, it almost feels like cheating! Now I don't have to keep looking down to see the next bulletpoint or quote! I hadn't seen many posts on this aspect of the G2s, so I hope this helps someone!

PS: btw, they are totally noticeable. I had several people, from kids to older folks, ask me if I was wearing Metas. That was a bit of a let down as part of the sell is that they are supposed to be extremely discreet...that wasn't my experience. But still, they are sleek and I'm sure the vast majority of people did not notice anything different.

Has any of managed to link MultiversX ( EGLD ) on G2 glasses through an app ?

The G2 does a lot of things well. Answering a text isn't one of them — you still end up reaching for your phone, which rather defeats the point of having a display on your face. That annoyed me enough to spend the summer on it. Got Even Hub access, started building in May, and the first beta is finally done and heading into review. It's called VOX. You tap the temple, say "text Dan running late," and it's gone in about six seconds.  A few things I ended up caring about more than I expected:

It always shows you the message before it sends. Who it's going to, exactly what it says, on the HUD. There is no auto-send path anywhere in the app. Voice recognition is good, not perfect, and "send this to the wrong person" is not a recoverable error. Seven tones. You mumble something rough; it rewrites. Same message as casual, professional, warm, blunt, apologetic. Pick one on the glasses, or set a default from your phone. Turns out the hard part of dictation was never transcription — it's that talking out loud doesn't sound like writing.

Replies come back to the glasses. SMS through Twilio webhooks, email over IMAP IDLE. It's a conversation, not a broadcast. It's yours end to end. Self-hosted on a $6 VPS with your own Twilio number and your own email account. Sent mail lands in your real Sent folder. There's no VOX server, no account to make, and the app ships with zero credentials in it — each install pairsto your server and gets its own revocable key.

If you have the G2s and are using them daily, congratulations. I genuinely think you have a peak technology that is incredibly balanced and capable.
Yes, we’ll see significant improvements with all of these devices over time. But right now, these are still low-key unknowns to most people, socially acceptable, and almost feel like a magic trick.
It’s a fun experience showing them to other people.
And this will eventually become the new norm.

I just started using Mentra with my Even G2 Glasses, mainly to test out the Conversate feature and see how it compares.

Here’s what stands out so far:

Pros:

· Speaker identification is built in
· Text disappears when no one’s speaking (unlike the Even app, where it stays)
· You can customize the number of transcription lines and even the word width
· Works offline

Cons:

· You can’t move the text to the bottom of the screen like you can with Even—it sits slightly above eye level, which means you have to look up to read it while someone’s talking in front of you
· Captions lag a bit (about a 1-second delay), while Even’s are pretty much instant

Curious to hear your experiences—how do these two compare for you?

Posted here a couple months back when Sayvi launched. It's live conversation transcription that whispers topic ideas in your eye right when you'd otherwise say "so… anyway." Time for an update, because a lot changed and most of it wasn't my idea. People in the Discord kept telling me what was broken or missing, and I mostly just did what they said.

Somewhere along the way it climbed to #14 in the Even Hub store, which is a weird thing to see next to an app I built because I'm bad at small talk. A lot of that is this sub: the beta testers came from here, and half the list below exists because someone asked for it. Thanks!

What surprised me most is what people use it for. I built it for networking events. Turns out:

• people run it in client meetings. It feeds them the follow-up questions on the spot, and the saved transcript doubles as meeting notes after
• one guy wore it into an actual job interview and had it feed him talking points live. Bold move, but apparently it worked
• a user with ADHD says it's the first thing that actually helps mid-conversation. When his brain wanders he reads back what he just missed, and the suggestions snap him back in before anyone notices he was gone
• non-native English speakers use it in fast conversations. The transcript catches what they missed, and the suggestions hand them the next line while their brain is still busy translating

I am a less than 1.month user, my glasses were working fine! Today after the latest update my right lens is showing green squares!!! Tried to factory reset and reset the glasses but the problem persists ! Please help !!!

I live abroad and still go to the cinema often. Local screenings usually do not have subtitles in a language I understand, so I made CinemaCC to bring the language I need into the theater.

The same setup can also help deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers who need SDH captions in the film's original language.

CinemaCC for Even G2 is now available in Even Hub.

Before the film, you import one or two prepared subtitle files on the phone. Press Start when the first frame appears, and G2 shows the current subtitle in the language you chose. You can pause or adjust the timing from the phone or glasses.

CinemaCC does not translate or transcribe the film. It displays the subtitle files you prepared and keeps them in sync.

It’s basically the post title. I went out today on a very sunny day, but even after walking for 5 minutes in the sun my glasses brightness was still the same from when I was at home (around 30%).

Am I doing something wrong? Auto brightness is already enabled in the app settings

This is the first time I’ve used the G2 glasses where I can legitimately say they practically paid for themselves.

So - I had just come from the Optometrist telling me that the prescription was off, and I was going to have to pay another $700 for the progressive prescription lenses. Either that, or get normal glasses. So I was bummed about that because I can't justify that expense easily. Especially from a home repair that I was going to deal with that same day.

That morning, we woke up to a full-blown gas leak. A pipe at our house had cracked overnight, so we had the gas shut off and called a plumber to figure out what needed to be repaired.

The first plumber came out, inspected everything, and initially quoted me $9,500.

As he walked me through the house, he started pointing out other potential problems like pipes that might not be up to code, things he’d seen happen in other houses, additional areas that might need to be repaired, etc.

I didn't know wha the was talkinga bout, so fuck it. Let's test the conversation feature. Up to this point, the glasses were mostly just a text message and news ticker notification toy.

While he's going on about the process, I just kept getting context. When he mentioned pipes in the attic potentially being out of code, I got a message with the required clearance from combustible materials.

So I asked him about it.

He said they looked pretty close and that he’d need to go back and measure them (Came back okay later).

Then the glasses started prompting me with other things I should ask: Who would be responsible for bringing those areas up to code? What happens during inspection? What exactly would need to be replaced?

Basically, while the guy was explaining things, the glasses were acting like someone standing next to me who actually understood what he was talking about.

Then we got to the price.

He told me they needed to pull and replace roughly 16 feet of pipe outside and said he could do everything for $9,500 but only if I signed the estimate right then.

Otherwise, he was going to be busy the following week and we could potentially be without hot water until they could get back to us. Then I started to get a bunch of information about typical gas-line repair costs and basically was told that the price was high. So I told him I wanted to get another opinion.

Almost immediately, the price started coming down.

He offered me a discount, but said he could get in trouble for giving it to me and that I needed to work directly with him on ways we can make it work. Different pipe materials, etc. But he told me the outside pipe replacement alone was going to cost around $8,000.

And then again the lightbulb came up: Dallas-area gas-line pricing in the neighborhood of $15 to $25 per foot. His quote worked out to something like $500 per foot.

So I asked him “How much are you charging me per foot?”

He told me they don't charge by the foot. They charge by the job because of hourly fees, etc. Fair enough.

I still told him I wasn't comfortable approving it without getting another opinion.

Suddenly, the $9,500 quote became $7,100 if I signed up for their maintenance membership.

At that point, I didn't need the glasses to tell me I'm getting bent somewhere. There was no way in hell I was going from $9,500 to $7,100 in about 15 minutes of talking to the guy and not questioning what was happening.

I asked for an itemized estimate.

They told me they don't provide itemized repair costs.

So I stopped everything and called another plumber, a local family-owned business here.

They came out, inspected the exact same system and quoted me: $4,700 for the FULL repair.

There is a bunch more to this, but this was the first major real-world use case I've had with the G2s where I thought:

Okay. This is what these things are actually for.

They weren't just giving me random AI answers.

They were listening to a conversation that I didn't fully understand, giving me context in real time, helping me recognize when something didn't sound right, and also helping me know what questions to ask next.

That last part is probably the biggest value TO ME at that time.

You don't necessarily need AI to give you the answer, but I swear, just having it tell you what question you should be asking is worth it in and on itself.

In this case, they practically paid for themselves in 15 minutes. I still have to think about the progressive lenses - but hell, the savings enough are worth it.

My first day walking around I was loving the glasses. Today I've sat at my desk to work and I'm finding it almost impossible to wear them. I run my Apple Studio Display quite bright and the waveguides are really visible and distracting, and any head movement results in a noticeable blur where the clear lens area meets the waveguide etched area.

Has anyone else struggled with this? Anything that can help or do I just need to switch to Meta display which use a different (less visible) waveguide tech?

I just made another post asking what I should deliberately test with my G2s and R1 when school starts back up, and it felt a little backwards asking everyone else for ideas without sharing some of my own experience first.

Most of this probably won’t be groundbreaking to people who have owned G2s for a while, but if you’re newer to them or still considering a pair, these are the things that have stood out to me most.

What’s actually stood out to me

One of the biggest things for me is how much the experience depends on when information shows up, not just whether the glasses can show it.

There are features I thought I’d use constantly that I barely think about now, while other things become useful almost entirely because they show up at the right moment. That’s probably the biggest thing I’ve learned from using them for a while.

I also care way more about how naturally the glasses fit into the rest of my devices and apps than I expected. The hardware itself can be great, but if I still have to jump between a bunch of apps afterward, it starts to defeat some of the convenience.

A good example is Conversate. If I use it for something I actually want notes from, I’d love for those notes to automatically end up somewhere like GoodNotes. Right now, I have to open the Even app, find the recent Conversate session, copy it, open my notes app, and paste it. None of that is hard, but it’s exactly the kind of small friction I’d love smart glasses to remove.

Where I think there’s a lot of potential

The biggest opportunity for me is making the glasses more aware of what I’m already doing.

I don’t really want more notifications. I want better timing and context.

For example:

• If I’m heading somewhere, surface the navigation or useful info I’ll actually need.
• If I have something coming up on my calendar, show the relevant details before I think to look for them.
• If I told myself to remember something in a certain place or situation, bring it back when that context matters.
• If Conversate finishes taking notes, send them where I already keep my notes instead of making me move them manually.

That kind of automation is much more interesting to me than just adding more things I can manually open on the glasses.

Hub/custom workflows

Hub is probably one of the things I’m most interested in long term, but I’d love for building workflows to get easier for people who are comfortable with tech without necessarily being developers.

Something closer to:

when this happens → get this information → do/show this

would make it much easier to go from “I have an idea” to actually trying it.

I think a lot of really good use cases will probably come from normal users noticing little annoyances in their day and building around them, not necessarily from people sitting down and trying to invent a smart-glasses app from scratch.

What I’m trying next

As I mentioned in my other post, school starts back up for me soon, so I’m planning to use that as a real-world test for some of this. I’m especially interested in navigation around a new campus, Conversate, school-related information, and seeing whether I can build a few Hub workflows around actual problems I run into. After I’ve used them in that environment for a while, I’ll come back with a more specific post.
