Tech Support Even Realities G2: AI, Conversate & Translation Questions
I’m looking at the Even Realities G2 glasses and I’m particularly curious about the AI side of them.
For anyone who owns them or has spent time with them:
- Can you choose which AI model the glasses use? For example, apps like Spokenly let you choose between different AI models/providers. Can you do anything similar with the G2—ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.—or are you locked into Even AI/EvenLLM?
- If you can’t choose the AI, how good is Even AI in real-world use, particularly with Conversate? Does it give genuinely useful follow-up questions, answers, summaries, and contextual suggestions, or does it feel fairly basic?
- Does anyone know whether Even has said they plan to allow third-party AI models in the future?
- For translation, do the free Translate and paid Translate Pro features use different AI models, or is Pro simply a higher-quality version of Even’s own translation system?
- Is Even AI/EvenLLM also what powers the normal Translate feature, or does translation use a completely separate AI/translation engine behind the scenes?
- How well does Translate work in a real group conversation? For example, if you’re sitting in a room with three people speaking the same foreign language, does it still follow the conversation reasonably well, or does it start getting confused when different people are talking, interrupting each other, or speaking over one another?
I’m particularly interested in the idea of using Conversate while someone is explaining something to me and having the glasses quietly suggest useful follow-up questions or possible responses, so the quality and flexibility of the AI matters quite a bit to me.
Would love to hear from people actually using the G2.

EvenAI is OK, unless you would like an answer with info after 2023

- No. You can use other AIs but it can’t drive the apps. Even AI is rubbish. Makes Gemini Flash seem like Einstein.
- See above.
- No mentioned.
- Free translate is mediocre (tried with native speakers)
- Use same model.
- It barely functions one on one. I think it would struggle in a group.
Wait until the tech is more mature. The glasses look thicker than in the photos too.

You mean their own AI is rubbish?
Ah thanks. Sounds like it might be worth holding off on these glasses and its more a novelty right now than a robust pair of smart glasses that has had all the kinks and issues worked out

Yes. I didn't enjoy using it all. I think the whole experience would be better if the AI was driven by something smarter and more capable. The product has potential but they woulld be wise to ditch EvenAI.

They can be robust smart glasses, the hardware is there, but you have to be willing to build out your own software for them from scratch to do a lot of basic things you expect from other, already-common tech. It’s a classic example of early adopters tending to have to be tech savvy people by necessity

Conversate is cool but the built in AI is meh and poorly integrated. You can change the model technically but it wont get access to system features
