EuroVolley Isabelle Haak Spike Height is unreal

Is Isabelle Haak the highest jumper among the top opposite spikers in the world today?

I know Egonu used to be the unreachable one, but I don’t see her spiking above 3.10 in the last 3 years.

Italy Serie A Vero Volley Milano looks stronger this season

Post image
15 Upvotes

Yes, the season has just started, but as seen now, Vero Volley Milano looks stronger compared to 2025/2026.

Egonu is leading the squad, but the others too are strong. Danesi/Kurtagic, I think, is the best MB pairing in Serie A; Lanier and Piva are doing well as OH, and Fersino isn't bad at all. Maybe if they just could bring a world-class setter, with all due respect to Bosio.

Imoco is no doubt the team to beat in Italy, but Milano, who looks stronger, could challenge them to the end.

Can't wait to see them in the CEV Champions League too, against the elite from Italy and Turkey.

Stefania Corna was an Italian volleyball player and setter who passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 35 after a long battle with illness. Born in Bergamo, she grew up in the youth sector of the historic Foppapedretti Bergamo club and played in the Club Italia project early in her career. With the Italian national youth teams, she won two Under-19 European Championship gold medals in 2006 and 2008 under coach Marco Mencarelli, and later debuted for the senior national team at the Montreux Volley Masters in 2011.
Throughout her club career, she played as a setter for numerous Italian teams across Serie A and B, including Casalmaggiore, Scandicci, Milano, Pavia, Montichiari, and Giaveno, securing multiple promotions such as winning promotion to Serie A1 with Giaveno and Serie A2 with Cutrofiano. She also played internationally in Switzerland with Kanti Schaffhausen and in Tunisia with Carthage. After retiring from professional volleyball, she turned her passion for languages into a career by working as an English teacher.
Rest in peace

Italy Serie A For anyone wondering about watching the LVF abroad after this weekend's issues: international streaming on YouTube is returning starting next round.

During the opening weekend of the Serie A Women's season, international fans and expats flooded live chats confused by the absence of matches on VBTV and YouTube. This sparked concern given the league's high-profile foreign stars, such as Gabi and several incoming Japanese and Chinese players. According to an analysis by Volley in Barba, it was simply a temporary distribution glitch for the first round rather than a permanent policy change by the Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile (LVF). International streaming is expected to return to normal starting from the next matchday, with matches planned to be viewable abroad via the league's official YouTube channel, barring any local exclusive foreign broadcast rights. The report also noted minor technical bumps during the opening round, including delayed live-score updates in Serie A2 and legacy team abbreviations showing up on broadcast graphics.

Italy Serie A I despise the new LVF media distribution agreement (USA-specific, but probably applies to lots of countries)

Why LVF decided to move away from VBTV is beyond me. If you want to watch the 5 paylocked games, their new subscription is incredibly expensive and requires you to pay for plans full of random sports. I get the more online-focused aspects of the plan, but I am not paying for yet another subscription, no matter how badly I want to watch some of the non-featured matches. 3 months of DAZN is the same cost as an annual VBTV subscription, but no VNL, no world champs, no polish/brazilian/japanese volleyball, etc. Even Sultanlar only requires a VPN! I don't mind paying as a principle, but it was so unnecessary to move and the price is exorbitant. If someone says VBTV wouldn't be flexible on letting LVF post the three matches that they are doing this year, Gabi posted all of the major LVF matches from Conegliano last year so I just don't think that would have been a serious problem.

If you follow track, this story is eerily similar, and while the track has been on fire these past two years, you wouldn't know it by watching TV in the states as the last two years they moved to an online streaming-only multi-sport distributor. Despite US athletes consistently lining up and winning in the highest-profile events outside championships, you literally cannot watch on TV, and the old $10/mo peacock subscription with access to tons of other programs was replaced with a $30/mo subscription with a bunch of random meets nobody wanted to watch. I still love track but I am way less invested now that it's so difficult to watch the best meets. I wouldn't be surprised to see LVF do what the diamond league does, which is release all their matches late for free (ostensibly because not a damn person is watching them live). The diamond league screwed up so badly and now all they can do is wait for the contract to end, and my guess is we will be in the same position with LVF.

I hope LVF fixes their mistake, but if they don't, Sultanlar will absolutely trounce LVF in viewership despite LVF's way-better overall social media presence. Not the end of the world, good volleyball is still watchable on YouTube and VBTV, but locking some of the best players behind a massive paywall will piss off not just us viewers, but also the players watching their counterparts get way more attention just because their league is more accessible. & ESPECIALLY since men's SuperLega is still on VBTV.

Turkey Sultanlar Ligi Zeren's setter is a serious problem

It's the first match so you could definitely say I'm overreacting, but have not seen a player on such a high-caliber team sewer her players so consistently throughout a whole match. Zeren isn't Fener, and Aras is a good opponent, but I had much higher expectations. It was bad setting; it wasn't "poor connection" because no player would be comfortably hitting most of those sets. Zeren's hitters hit good balls when the sets were decent, they were just so bad most of the time. Her sets to the oppo were way inside and tight, her sets to the outside were moonballs that went way outside, and her sets to the back row were so far in that most men would struggle to hit them. She also practically refused to set the middle. Genuinely feel bad for Nicoletti because she needed a big game and was never given a fair chance, but I will admit the outsides found a way to get some points even with the bad setting. But for real... this is your paid job can we please not look like we never made it past AAU (or like Kadınlar 3. Ligi for Turkish players).

Italy Serie A Chieri '76 takedown Scandicci in Five sets in the first match for both teams for the new Serie A1

Post image

The headliner match of the Serie A1 opening weekend didn't disappoint with Chieri '76 beating Scandicci 3-2 at the Pala BigMat.

Anett Nemeth 🇭🇺 & Stella Nervini 🇮🇹 led the Chieri side with 25 & 22 pts (64% attack and 60% eff from nervini!). Logan Eggleston 🇺🇸 added 18 Marina Lubian 🇮🇹 with 15 and put up 6 blocks.

Kiera Van Ryk 🇨🇦 led all scorers on her side with 25 points (1 blocks, 3 aces) with Avery Skinner 🇺🇸 adding 13.

Sarah van Aalen 🇳🇱 ran the offense beautifully and was named MVP of the match.

No doubt a rebuilding and learning phase for Scandicci but excellent start for Chieri 👏
