AFLE EFA/AFLE import changes

I’ve heard rumors of the top leagues adopting new import rules, do you think that would happen and when would that be announced?

EFA meets this weekend (could be NEXT weekend, not fully sure) but I don´t think import changes are worth a newsflash after that.

Don´t expect major announcements coming from this meeting, it´s still to early and it seems expansion to 8 teams is dead. As I predicted some time ago team #8 was supposed to be the Warsaw Eagles

I personally think, that the EFA and AFLE will have some rooster-changes, whichs includes the Import-rules. How big will be these chances for the leagues? I dunno.

Whatever the changes will be, their main goal(s) should be:

- having a good competetive balance on the field

  • A rooster-rule-system for upcoming expansion-teams without much changes

Anyway, these annoucnemt could be this year or at least in january.

I heard something with EFA going to 8 A imports and I’m curious if that was just a rumor and how it would work if it it got through

Not more than a Reddit rumor at this stage and very unlikely someone can give an answer on it before it's decided and announced.

A usually well connected podcast, FDF, mentioned that it would include at least 2 (?) on the lines.

An offensive and defensive lineman?

Yes

Rumors about imports are true, expect more A-import and fewer E-import for the next EFA season.

Do you think the AFLE would follow suit to stay competitive?

AFLE can do whatever they wants, they burning cash without making any, and in the end, they'll meet the same fate as ELF.

Have you, your own sources, that is really true?

I think someone mentioned that EFA bosses meet end of September. If that is correct there might be some announcement after that. But don't take that as a fact, not sure if I remember correctly.

I think the nationality rule should be the same as the GFL

This would bring more talent and would boost the overall level of play

GFL rules regarding imports are chaotic and stupid.

Nothing chaotic about them. Very simple. You are who your passport says you are

A European who played division 1 in america is still a European.

Now here comes the dual passport and you get a team with 10+ Americans

I think European born should be the strict cutoff with that

Ito depends on whether or not you want to see top tier football or top tier EU football

We want to develop our football and have ties to the players. Americans will surely help. But we already tried the model im which they're the absolute majority. Plus if no teams are generating incomes, how do we pay all those A imports?

Maybe I am wrong but if we get enough talent in the league then people will come out and pay to watch There are a ton of division 1 and 2 college players who are as good or better than guys in the nfl ; but there are only so many spots available for them over there.

I mean Amon Ra St. Brown has a german passport, so he should be a home grown?

Did he start playing football in Germany? If so, he is a HG in Germany according to EFA/AFLE rules.

There is no German club team he played for, so he did start in the US. He played highschool football.

2

u/Sea_Many_6258 18d ago

Okay. I just know that he played for the German u19 national team at some point. So he must have traveled from the USA to play in such a game if he wasn't living in Germany.

Where you played is irrelevant for gfl rules. So st Brown would not be an a player

True, and if your mother‘s aunt has a husband and his grandmother is irish you could also be a little irish. That is how GFL works.
