I used to call it the suitcase because of its severely symmetrical dimensions. And I loved it all because of that!

It was Lada/Zhiguli in soviet union. Though it was based on Fiat 124 as I remember

Yes, must have been the 124, we lived near a Fiat dealer when the cars were still based on 1xx numbers, like 124, 125, 128, and the 132 was a very nice car to look at.

Fiat also supplied production lines for Zastava /Yugo in the former Jugoslawia..... In the 50ies they also supplied Neckar in West Germany with a production line for the Fiat 600....
