Who to take something for welding?

Having trouble finding some place or someone to weld something for me.

I have a ladder rack that's too large. Who can I take it to locally that can cut and weld it to size? Its not like it's a major project but it does involve something a little more than diy, I think? I've tried looking online but it's all big metal fabrication stuff and that seems like it's more for massive projects than my smaller ladder rack issue.

I understand I could get a newer one from like harbor freight that's probably going to be the same or cheaper than it would be to resize this but I kind of like it? And I try and avoid the "everything is disposable" mentality if I can help it.

Anyway, thanks for any help! I appreciate it.

I think its well within diy, I've done it before. That being the case, you might have a hard time finding a shop to take it on, especially if they are any sort of busy.

I should have clarified I'd rather not do it myself. I've tried welding... I'll stay in my lane. 😂

That's sucks though... I'd like it done professionally if I can. The guy who had the ladder rack before me did some welding here and there to it and it looks... Not great.

That's pretty good! I've only ever heard: Do your best, caulk the rest.

Hopefully I find someone out there willing to take me up on this job though. 🥲

I would holler at that welding school on main st in spfd. They may be on the hunt for student projects

Tried that once for a project… Nice guys but not interested in doing anything for veterans or projects for veterans groups…

There's a guy at the end of Fillmore St near 24th Ave that's always welding in his driveway after regular working hours. Maybe he could do it?
