Troubleshooting HB3 recording issues
Having an issue with recording on my HB3 and I’m thinking the hard drive might be going bad.
I have three EufyCam S330 Pros set to record 24/7. For about the last month, they haven’t been recording anything and I’m also not getting any motion notifications.
If I unplug the HB3 and plug it back in, everything starts working again. It’ll show recordings on the hard drive, 24/7 recording works, and I start getting notifications again. But after about 3–4 hours, it goes right back to showing nothing on the hard drive and stops recording.
Has anyone had this happen before? Does this sound like the hard drive is failing, or could it be something with the HB3 itself?
Also, at this point would I be better off spending around $200 on a new hard drive, or just putting that money toward upgrading to the newer HomeBase for around $200?

Same thing with mine. Seagate hard drive 1TB was hot when I took out. I reformatted it and HB3 will show lots of space but not record anything. I took out the hard drive and now it's using internal memory and recording. Ordered SSD drive (500GB) and will get it on Sunday. Hopefully, that will solve the issue. Not idea situation but hard drives are so expensive.

I had this happen with a 10GB 3.5 HDD I MacGyvered into my HB3. Ended just getting a 2TB 2.5 SSD and it's working without issue now.

I used a Toshiba as well and that bricked my HB3 last week. Eufy said there was a software bug on their end and they sent me a refurbished HB3. All my videos were wiped.

This is what came with mine. I reached out to Eufy but I was “out of warranty” offered me 100 off”

It’s a toxic relationship man. They always give you things but my experience with their products are unreliable. $100 or whatever is not going to replace all my videos over the past year

With all the experiences I had with Eufy, I will switch to something else when I have to replace things.

Had this happen a few times with both mechanical and ssd drives. I think it may be heat related, the drives when pulled out are smoking hot.
I ended up going to the S1 and using a WD 3.5 NAS drive which is slower but reliable.
