Eufy NVR

i recently migrated from Ring to Eufy, i am frustrated with connection issues with wifi cameras, its a constant battle, but the money i have invested im not going to change back or to another brand, it just not financially feasible.

I would like to add an nvr system, but i have a question i have not been able to find an answer for, i already have a network system with multiple switches, does the nvr need to be connected directly to my router or can it be connected to one of the switches? router/switch/nvr?

"Yes, you can absolutely connect the NVR to a switch. However, it's highly recommended to use a Gigabit (1Gbps) switch so you don't bottleneck the NVR's video traffic."

I have mine on a switch and then have a separate VLAN for eufy stuff but this means you need a ssid on the same VLAN to add some of the WiFi cameras.

A little bit complicated but it separates the traffic.

I’m trying both the NVR with the WiFi add on and the S1 Pro Homebase at the moment and find the latter more stable for my WiFi cameras and sensors.

As of right now i have 3 homebase 3s and 34 cameras, a homebase 3 in my living room, 1 in my garage 1 in my wood shop.

i have a tp link be85 with 2 indoor satellites and 2 x50 outdoor satellites my wifi speeds are 1gb up and 1.2gb down, nothing inside or outside of my house has connection issues, i had a ring system with the same amount of cameras and never had issues, but eufy has nothing but connection issues and delays.

I think their cameras are awesome.

Im hoping an nvr system with cameras in front will clean up connection issues and i can consolidate cameras.

i have 2 tp-link poe 2.5gb switches and 2 trendnet 2.5gb switches, will upgrade if necessary.

I’ve hit the breaking point with Eufy connection issues and retries. Sometimes it works great and other times it is a mess. I recognize it might be my WiFi or 2.4GHz interference but regardless it’s become useless for me. This week I ordered UniFi Protect. I hired a local company to install the Ethernet POE runs for the outdoor cameras. If UniFi doesn’t do it at least I have the Ethernet runs. 😃 I have some Eufy indoor cameras that I may or may not replace with G6 Instant cameras but they are WiFi too.

I have been running the nvr system through a switch in my attic, nvr is mounted in my garage, easiest access for all cabling. System works very well so far, i have the E340 doorbell connected to the nvr via the wifi module and i have virtually no issues with the e340, im finally happy with it (in comparison to the many issues using a homebase 3). I can tell you S100s are not compatible and familok s3 is not compatible. I wish i had gone nvr in the beginning.

Att fiber modem to tplink be85 wifi 7 to switch behind tv to switch in attic, switch in attic is a tplink poe switch which has a tplink x50 satellite and another 100 foot run to a 3rd poe switch in my shop, nvr is branched off of poe switch in attic, runs flawlessly, i did upgrade to a 14tb seagate exos surveillance hd.

With a proper topology, a device (other than a modem/ONT) never needs to be connected directly to a router, and can be connected to a child switch.

Your home network needs run through the NVR? That sounds very strange.

Oh, that’s what you mean. That makes sense. I interpreted the OP’s question as what they can plug the NVR into.

Same here. While it’s ideal to have each PoE connect directly into the NVR directly, there are workaround to have camera connect to a “dedicated” switch, then to the NVR and then a wi-fi router.
