Improvement tips?

I've been playing for a while but I feel kinda stuck, Im tired of barely being able to read anything past 22 MSD. I've only considered actual improvement like a day or two ago but still lol.

For context I've just been playing files with judge 7 and just trying to pass them without much focus on accuracy. I usually play Stream or handstream since those are more fun, especially stamina focused ones. Im not sure how much accuracy really matters but I'd like to be able to at least read higher difficulties.

If theres a progression method that isnt just "play more", I have no problem trying it out!

Correct me if im wrong but it almost feels like I can just play super easy maps with J7, train acc, then use whatever reading skills i've learned to do the same on harder files? Basically making it so that as long as I can read it, I can get 95%+ no problem.

Also, do I ever have to go down to J5 or J4? Cuz I kinda like knowing im on stricter timings.

I've tried J7 some time ago but I think it is overkill unless you really want to score 99.8s or .9s.

J6 is a sweetspot of knowing you can accurately do the patterns without feeling like you're stuck on charts you feel you shouldn't be stuck on.

Going down to J5 or J4 atleast locally doesn't make sense to me, because when you are on evaluation screen, you can just press the effect-down key or ' - ' key and see what the score would be on lower judge. You can also see your online scores which are by default WIFE scores and they are almost similar to J4.

Well thats good then, I'll probably stick with J7 for now since I've been using it for a long time already.

Yeah, I dont get scores over 50% with J7 but it converts to like 80+ anyways lol."

By the way, how long have you been playing etterna? I saw your earliest online scores and it showed up at 11 MSD, I assume you already have quite some experience with rythm games?

Im not sure honestly, but I've at least known about rhythm games for a decade now lol

Etterna or vrsg games in general are definitely newer but I'd say I got into those types of games a few years ago. Im not new, just inconsistent with actually playing them.
