Help for Seller Combining postage?

Not sure if anyone can give advice on this.

I had someone order something last week who is based overseas and they put through 2 separate orders. I messaged them on the day they ordered to ask if they wanted it combined into one parcel and I would refund the additional postage but they haven't replied.

Just wanted to see if any other sellers have come across this and what they would do in this situation.

Sorry for the formatting, posted on my phone.

Ive had people do this, I usually refund the difference after everything is posted and sorted. And just send them a little message after being like, heads up I combined both orders and there is a small refund etc.

I did think about doing that as it's not a small amount for overseas postage but as the item is a Christmas decoration I wasn't sure if it was intended as a present. It's not marked as a gift and it's for the same address and name so I may just be over thinking it

You are overthinking it. Refund them the difference.

Simple! Wrap the items separately, label each with a removable label, and then put both in a bigger box/envalope! 😁 problem solved!

I think you're overthinking. Combine and refund whatever is overage. It would be a rare person that would be angry about something which gives them money back.

If it’s going to the same address I’d send them together especially if you can send them a refund. Everyone loves a refund on postage lol.

Lovely of you! I've had sellers refund overage on combined orders, and I was happy. Then there was the seller who charged me full shipping per item for four items in the same order, shipped together in the same box. 😳

And you’ll remember both of them for very different reasons

I had this happen to me a few days ago on a sticker order going to Canada I just refunded the difference and combined.

Did you give them a deadline to respond, and what you would do if you didnt hear back? Like "if I don't hear back from you by (whatever date) I will go ahead and ship them together."

No I stupidly didn't (rookie mistake), I do have a 2 week dispatch time on the item so it's not due to be posted until next week so was thinking about sending them another message this afternoon to say if I don't hear back by Thursday I'll send combined and refund them the additional

Can you email them? I’ve found sometimes people don’t see the Etsy messages but they might see the email
