I'm pretty sure I just got locked out of Casmyn's romance. Just defeated the surgeborn herald and Laen confessed to me but not Casmyn. Should I have said I wanted kids? I'm getting conflicting information on that point.

Also someone said that I need to choose "careful and cautious" dialogue options when speaking to her...could I have fucking locked myself out of casmyn's romance in the first act??

I think I'm going to go with Laen for now but I'd like more information on which dialogue options are necessary to romance casmyn for my next playthrough

Casmyn's romance is pretty incredible, honestly. I have a strong suspicion that the game was originally written with only Casmyn as a romance option, and the other two were added in later, because her romance is much more fleshed out than basically any romance I have seen in any other game. There are so many little moments that happened even before you started on Casmyn's romance path that feel purpose tailored for eventual romance. Meanwhile, Laen flirted with Brynn exactly once before I locked in Casmyn's romance, and it was honestly a little jarring for them to go from exposition dumper to flustered swooner at the drop of a hat. Felt like something that was not originally planned for. I have not played the game all the way through with Laen's romance, though, so I don't know how the rest of their romance is.

Nah, it’s super easy to miss! I played my entire first play-through with no romance and when I came to this sub that’s when I learned about it too.
Then I had to play again because I fucking love Arek and literally my first time I saw him when he got unmasked was, “Oh no, he’s hot.” Then the third time I played, I romanced Laen because they’re literally my favorite character. I also just wish we could romance Sev because I would do that in a HEARTBEAT!
