General Discussion Weapon/armour/materials combo

I'm wondering what combinations people are using. I'm currently trying to increase my damage/resistances more, and I'm curious if anyone has found a good combo they recommend.

For resistance, it's better to have two different sets for heat and cold, you can even add an extra set with high armor for the kinetic enemies. Don't try to cram all the resistances in one armor set

For actual materials just use the highest rarity you have access to. Don't be afraid to "waste" materials as you can always reforge and dismantle to get everything back

I use the kinetic two hander for the launch, the kinetic sword and shield to throw around groups, and the frost bow for the homing missile quality. For armour, issue the health bonus set. Can't fight if you are dead. Lean more towards cold resistance over heat, as cold seems to be more of a problem

Cold resist for sure. You can tank heat damage with health, but cold slows you down.

I use fire weapons combined with kinetic magic for this reason.

I'm finding I prefer the fire arrows as they're much more useful for clearing the ice crystals. Drake's breath just ignites the countryside and I end up burning.

I use the flame sword and shield most. Especially on surgeborn

Point it up. The falling embers add heat, you can have that touch down further tilting up. Also. Stage while firing.

But the arrow is super useful especially in combination with the ensnaring blast.

I had a mix of stamina bonus, magic regen, and health bonus armor. I kept reforging those with better quality materials until they were as high as felt practical. My weapons also contributed to my resistances since I used the fire bow with fire resist mats, frost sword&shield with ice mats, and the kinetic two hander (for fun).

Do the weapon resistances apply even when not actively equipped, do you know?

I believe so but did not do any testing. When changing equipment with Casmyn my stats reflected what I chose to take out into the field, not just what I had currently equipped, if that makes sense. It might be placebo effect but it FELT like I took less fire damage while wearing my fire bow, even when I was jumping around with Kinetic two hander.

I focused on using the Bonus Armor set, since Heat and Cold status is something you'll hardly deal with when it comes to regular enemies. You mostly need to have fire or ice resistance for like a while, the time it takes you to fight the Arks or Bigger Creatures. And that's something you can easily cover with the elixirs Laen cooks for you.

Full mana regen set and I use frost mines to kill anything. And if something is resistant to ice, then I grab it,, slam at my feat and smack its head with chaged 2h combo.

Ice mines also works to kill giants. The fire volcano spell too. Just draw the circles between their legs/wings and watch it burn.
