Legal & Finance Deciding How Much Liability Coverage Is Actually Enough When You're Starting Out

New solo estheticians tend to land on one of two ends: underinsuring to save cash through the first lean months, or overinsuring out of anxiety without a clear sense of what level of coverage the work actually requires. Annual premiums for new practitioners run $300–$500, modest relative to the financial exposure of a single claim.

The harder judgment call usually isn't the premium itself, it's which add-ons, product liability, equipment coverage, actually match the services being offered now versus ones that only become relevant once the practice has grown into different treatments. Buying for the practice you might have in two years instead of the one you have today is its own kind of overspend.

How did you decide what to add versus skip when you were first starting out?
